    Few things:
    1. This episode shows once and for all why Joel has such a fearsome reputation. He's 56 years old and still recovering from his injury and he utterly destroys multiple guys. Imagine how terrifying he was in his prime, like right after the outbreak in the wake of Sarah's death.
    2. David is even creepier here than in the game. The added note of him being a teacher pre-apocalypse opens up all sorts of horrible possibilities of what he did even before everything went to hell. Him telling Ellie the best part is when they fight back confirms he's done this over and over and over again.
3.The "baby girl" moment is every bit as emotional as expected. The emotional walls Joel put up after Sarah's death have fallen and he's gone all out to love another daughter again, even with the risks.
    4. Ellie killing original Joel is prime dark humor.

Is it contrary to expectations to have the character Ellie kill the original actor of Joel? Yes. In this way, it meets the criteria for irony. That the Ellie character offed the original Joel actor with a meat clever to his neck, and that he bled out like a stuck pig, something that would make the Joel character inordinately proud, is darkly humorous.

Technically penicillin shots should go in one of two places. The first is the meaty muscle part of the upper buttock. The other is the lower abdomen like an insulin shot. However, method of introduction doesn't really matter in this case just so long as the shot gets into Joel's bloodstream to begin fighting the infection. Of course there is always the upper pad of the arm about two fingers width down from the shoulder. A bit of trivia, the guy Joel knifes in the basement is the actual director of the episode.

Actors often try to put themselves emotionally in their character's state of mind and try to feel what their character is feeling to evoke the most natural looking acting. This episode is key though for the Ellie and Joel relationship storyline. Baby girl are the most important words from Joel ( he used to call Sara like that) letting you know that Joel finally let his guard down and let himself to love and protect this girl as his daughter.

Without question this is the *DARKEST* part of the game. And yeah, they show did not hold back. They made David in his last minutes even more disturbing than the game made him. And when David tells Ellie that she has a violent heart he had NOOOO idea. I would honestly put her near the top of the list of the deadliest people in tv or video games. When she is chopping the hell out of David it is cathartic at first but then you see the tragedy because Ellie needed to tap into all of the darkness and violence in her heart to survive. And then we get the scene of Joel hugging Ellie and calling her baby girl😭😭😭. Bella Ramsey is getting an Emmy or this show🤞🤞!
I kinda wished that Troy Baker (the original actor who played Joel in the game) was cast as someone far more important than James. Still he was amazing and he had an awesome death scene, and it was darkly funny that video game Joel was killed by tv Ellie. I actually screamed out “NO JOEL” when that happened 😂. Also wish that they gave Ellie her trademark bow and arrow, but hopefully we get that in Part 2.

I was waiting for this reaction. And here I am LOL at 6:00 min "never trust the Christian colonizers, you saw how that worked out for us!" LOUDER!!! 🤣🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Made my night watching this very emotional reaction!
Bruhhh this is one of the best reactions of the show I've seen in a while the way you're all enjoying it and losing it so much feels like the first time I played the game!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (now I'm at 23:00 mark lol)
Are y'all doing the WAH?! The Pedro's wah voice from SNL? #Dying gahhh this reaction gives me so much lifeeee!!!!
    HI SYLVIA!!! 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
This episode its a masterpiece if Bella is not given an Emmy and all the freaking awards imma riot. What a MARVELOUS actor!!!! What a performance!!!!! Bella's talent it's OUT of this world!!!
They managed to make David so much creepier than in the game, this episode it just gut wretching, breathtaking and the changes that were made were just perfect. I truly think TLOU will have a perfect season! Can't wait for next week!

The "clicking," was just the deer doing a "buck rub," or rubbing its antlers against a trees.
Also Nick Druckman said in the Inside Episode after i think Episode 3 or 4 that the Infected couldnt thrive in the cold. They may wander up north but wouldnt survive in near freezing temps.

You guys were KILLING me with the running religious commentary lolololol (you're so right and you should say it).
Hector's reactions to the penicillin and cannibalism was fucking hilarious. "Everyone eat your Dad meat" friggin sent me.
Bella deserves every award available. Can't wait to watch with you next week!

I cackled at Augustin hissing "sana sana" at Joel 😂
This was such a brutal episode, with amazing performances. It really says something when I'm less disturbed by the cannibalism than I am about David. This is definitely Bella Ramsey's top work in the show so far. Her rageful and traumatic screams at the end are so heartbreaking.

28:06 oh Joel murdered them all basically. The show doesn't really address what happened to the rest of the group and it felt kinda silly that they just walk away at the end. in the game Joel is savage

game-joel is a bit more show don't tell, interesting to see the reactions to the "finale" considering show-joel isn't shown to be as bloodlustful (they only really allude to it in dialogue and let it pop out in episode 1 and 8)
