    I've lived here for 13 years. My top pick is Tall Trees, because it is close to everything! One block south of CR 466, just west of Buena Vista. Polo Ridge is just across 466 to the north. Caroline is great because it is close to LSL (Lake Sumter Landing). Caroline, Mallory, Sabal Chase and Virginia Trace make a "U", with LSL being at the top. I would NOT buy any house who's street is connected to North Morse Blvd because it is only 2 lanes & you can hardly get out onto Morse during high season; Rio Grande & San Marino are the only streets that have a traffic light. I don't like any of the Villages off North Buena Vista, north of El Camino Real because you don't have very many Rec Centers or pools. I have always liked houses between CR 466 & 466A. You have to understand that most of the doctors offices are near the hospital off 27/441--the very top of The Villages. Lots of restaurants, too. Two new freestanding ERs just opened on 466A, which we are so happy to have. The Villages hospital, esp the ER, is crap. If you have major health problems, don't move here. Some people have moved back North because of the great hospitals/health care they have. There just aren't any medical training schools like we have back home. I don't know how all the new assisted living facilities are finding employees. Back to real estate, the big extension of The Villages beyond the turnpike sounds good, maybe in 10 years. The only Village I've seen is Fenney. I like it because it's close to all the big amenities. I can't believe people are buying houses close to the Turnpike--now they want walls built to help with the noise. There's also a gravel pit that blasts occasionally & rattles people & windows. Coleman Prison is just to the west--I haven't heard of any escapes. I would stick to houses between 466 & 44, except for Polo Ridge, which is just north of 466. Sign up for our blog, talkofthevillages.com and you will get great info there. 8/17/20

      Thank you for your input. One thing about those Villages north of El Camino Real. That is the quietest area in The Villages when the snowbirds are here. The First Responders recreation center will be up and running in about 18 months. It will have a beach entry pool and a Putt & Play. Walking trails too.

    Yes The Villages is a beautiful place to live and yes a city of nearly 150,000 but people want to retire here so they keep building. Once you live here you realize it's not as large as you thought. Many small communities inside one large city. There are so many residents that are in their 50's that they started a South of Sixty Club. If you can retire early why not! No better place to be then an active lifestyle community!

    What would you recommend as the most economical section of The Villages? Are there one bedroom condo units or places requiring low to no maintenance? I'm an apartment dweller type and I love watching golf, but I don't want to golf myself. I actually prefer to be close to a Catholic church. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    • @sonofmabarker
      @sonofmabarker  4 года назад

      Mary McNally The most economical would be the oldest section. Which is Orange Blossom and others on 441. It’s across the street from Saint Timothy. These are homes and not apartments. New apartments have just been built near Brownwood.

    Good video! For the haters here, keep in mind The Villages is a city of 120,000 and growing. You make it sound like there is an accident a minute here. You don't like TV's that's great. Find a place that suits you but don't crap on our community. As for sinkholes - well folks better be warned about Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, TN and PA as well! If people were that concerned in TV's they would be moving out. Instead they keep coming!

      You can only have 2 pets. If you already have 3, you can move in but if one of them dies then you can't replace it. No fences or hedgerows are allowed but some houses in the newer Village of Pine Ridge have fences. The drawback to Pine Ridge is that the land is actually part of the town of Lady Lake & you will pay higher taxes. There are several dog parks, mostly in the south end.

      Every Village has it's good and bad points. There is no such thing as a perfect location. People who are buying in the new section south of the Florida Turnpike will have to put up with loads of construction for the next few years. Plus, they will have to wait for stores and restaurants to come into that area. Myself, I would suggest a preowned home that already has many updates added. That can add up to a great savings.

      pre built home in the older section is the way to go. North of 466. Better built homes updates and low or no bonds. Better bang for your buck! Also the courtyard villa is very popular and in high demand. One will get higher resale value.

    All these rude comments about The Villages and sinkholes are unnecessary! All from haters who, most likely have never even been to TV's! Yes there may be one or two sinkholes that have done real damage to a few properties but those folks have insurance to cover it. Most sinkholes that show up are small and easily repaired. So calm down haters and go elsewhere! Oh and the top 5 states for sink holes are TX, AL, KY, PA, TN and yes FL. I worry more about the sinkholes in PA and west TX!

    • @iowawilliam
      @iowawilliam 5 лет назад

      I live near those condemned houses, and I CANNOT purchase a meaningful 'sinkhole' insurance policy.
