We left ice cold Illinois in December of ‘21 and stayed at a Red Roof Inn for a week, then we did our Lifestyle visit for another week, then we rented a house in St. Catherine which was supposed to be for 7 months during which time we would go and search for our forever home. And within 3 months we found our forever home in the village of Fenney ( Jurassic Park) and thankfully our landlord allowed us to break the lease since he already had renters lined up. Best decision we ever made 👍👍
Great story Victor and thanks so much for sharing...very happy for you guys! I know that Finding and securing a new home can be super stressful. So glad it all worked out. Welcome and hope to see you around town...Stay Awesome!
We rented in Hawkins for the month of April and ended up buying in Bradford. While we initially didn't want to be South of 44 ,the location suits us perfectly. We enjoy the walking paths and dedicated cart paths. I agree, we needed a month to really get a feel of what we wanted. As you said, explore and talk to people, we found everyone was very willing to talk to us about their neighborhood. We loved playing pickleball but was told that there are many accidents/injuries, wishing your wife a speedy and full recovery.
Thanks Anthony for the well wishes Shirley and I appreciate it greatly! Sounds like you did it right my friend and we're happy to have you as neighbors, Stay Awesome!
@@thevillagesdeluna That's good. My husband and I can't stop thinking of The Villages. We are not retired yet but keep thinking the lifestyle down there seems awesome. We are researching all the time and hoping to figure this out within the next year. Only played pickleball a couple times, but found it very fun!
I just returned home today from our second lifestyle visit. I was thinking of building a home, but when I took my husband down to the new areas, he freaked out and said it is too remote. Well, we are now thinking a resale home might be better due to it's location, reduced bond and not being in Lake County where the taxes are higher. It will need more work, but I guess you can't get everything you want.
Glad you guys made it Jill but I'm not surprised by your husbands feeling of remoteness. If you were looking in Newell it can seem far away from the action however Saw Grass Grove is pretty close and once Eastport opens up residents will have more variety. On the resale front that might be the perfect option for the reasons you listed, bond, taxes, etc. Please keep us posted and as always I appreciate you watching and sharing your experience with all of us...SA!

Hi Tracy Mike Whittington Circle if you can one day stop by my house. I just had surgery on my leg. Titian rod in my Femur. Just wondering if you might be able to help me out in May about Golf!!!!!! Thankyou Tracy.
I’ve never been to the villages, but hope to do a lifestyle visit this summer, as a retired widower.. How long of a “lifestyle stay” would be needed to see enough of the villages, housing options, activities, etc.? I’d hate to travel a thousand miles, and find I should have stay a couple additional days. Thanks
Hi rkoleda, first off, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it! As for LSV, I think a week is a good amt of time for your first visit. You can certainly do, see and interact on just about every level...if you're coming all this way a week would would be minimum. Feel free to reach out to me should you have any questions during your visit I'll certainly try to help. If you need to connect with a Villages Realtor reach out to Cheri Francis, she's great! Best of luck and Stay Awesome!
I saw a lady comment that she and her husband needed a month stay to decide what area to buy in, which included looking at a number of houses in various areas.
For me, I would rather be close to everything and especially hospital and doctors, are there anything like that ? And if so, what's village would be close to everything , hospital and doctors offices and shopping ??? Just like where, I live now, I am only 4/10 mile / 2 blocks from the hospital, my doctors are in the medical building attached to the hospital, in my region really everything only 5 miles or less from each other. Thank you !!!!
Hiya debbiec6216, we are really close to our doctor, the medical center and several walk-in's. So on the health care front we are covered pretty well. It's the retail shopping that is lacking. Thanks you for watching and commenting, greatly appreciated! SA!
I did contact Hometown Property Management. I somehow thought they were connected to The Villages. So I was shocked when they were very unfriendly and not accomodating. Person was very curt. I'll try somewhere else.
Hi Nana, that's very disappointing for sure! Sorry you had that kind of interaction and I too would move on! Try "Rent from a Villager"...As you can see from the above comment Ryan and Karen are ready to help you! Keep me posted if you can and hope you find the perfect fit!
@@thevillagesdeluna thank you for your quick reply. I didn't express myself well. I meant if I were to buy a home, would there be a market for renting out my Villages home in the off-season. But you still answered my question! While so many of my friends are looking to go to Mexico and rent for the winter because of the lower costs, my husband is an avid golfer and golf courses in the remoter areas of Mexico are not that plentiful. I very much like being surrounded by the ocean and lakes...snorkling with manatees is my idea of heaven. That's why we're looking to spend time in an area such as this. Thank you again.
Sorry, I understand now...yes you can rent your home here during those months. Just keep in mind being off peak it could take longer and if course rents will be lower for the off months. As for golf, its getting more and more difficult to get tee times when all the snow birds come back. Im hearing a lot of complaints. So, visiting Mexico might be a great alternative 🎉. Hope this helps!
I did rent for The Villageshomes for rent. It was great! But I wondered do all websites have you referred to The owner of the home to make your payments.?
Hiya Susan, we brought our two on our LSV and there was no problem. On the rental side you would need to ask the owner directly. There are a lot of dogs in TV so I would expect you would not have any issues. Thanks for watching and SA!
so there are NO apartments for rent, just houses?? unless you are an employee of the Villages ( Morse family) and live on the outskirts of the Villages? I love playing Disc Golf, so all the golf course are traditional ball golf course???
Wow, tough call for me to make Jackie. Two homes equals double the cost but if that fits then it may be an ideal situation! Remember renting will limit your costs to however long you stay in TV. Keep me posted please and thanks for the question!
Hiya Frank, thanks for watching! However, sorry to say I have not heard of shared housing in TV. If anyone has more info on this topic please feel free to elaborate and thanks!
Hi Frank, I have been looking into that myself as I am single, retired lady and am interested in sharing rent on a house. Have you found out anything since you last asked about it?
@@lindascott2008 Not as yet. I figured that with most housing being med to large single family homes, that a lot of singles might want to double up to share costs and for companionship. But it may be that the average villager is fairly wealthy and with so many opportunities to meet socially, folks value alone time. Home as a place of refuge. The Villages is really a different place than “normal” neighborhoods. A roommate app might be a good business opportunity. I could be that this is something people might want, but there really is not a forum for it.
@@lindascott2008 Re reading your message, I was thinking alone the lines of a single owner renting a room. But your idea of 2 or 3 persons renting a house is good. But either way, an app is needed. The initial idea came from a news story about the trend of folks renting a room to save expenses and to bring new people into their family’s lives. I can handle a group home as long as I have my man cave :)
@@Frank-nh9fe It sounds like you are onto a good business idea. I used to be fairly well off, but some things happened and now I live on social security which is rather low. If I had the money I had before, I would just buy a house for myself with no need for a roommate, because as you say, with all the socializing there, home would be a peaceful refuge. So, I think the market would be for people like me who really need to live somewhere to have a sense of community, friends, social life that I don't have where I am now, yet can't afford too much. I am willing to adjust to share rental as I have had enough of feeling isolated living by myself where it is affordable enough for me to do that, but it is very rural and I feel super isolated and stagnant. I feel I could make the change to a share rental to be able to live in such a community as the Villages. I am pretty good at keeping to myself in my own room when I need refuge. Also, it can be nice, as a woman, to have a guy roommate to kinda have my back in terms of making it safer in terms of men not seeing me as a "sitting duck" if you know what I mean.
Lifestyle visit, do I get perks of playing executive courses free? As a home owner, how much does it cost to play championship courses? I’m 45 and retired, is there anyone my age in there? Thanks
During a LSV you are provided with 2 rounds of golf typically and I do believe you can mix and match. Playing Championship can be affordable if you play after 3pm. Off season rates are just $10 dollars per person, great deal I think. As for your age there are some young people here for sure but I would contact TV directly for accurate details. Thanks for watching!
Hiya Frank, renters are required to get a guest pass which then allows them access to all amenities. It's a fairly simple process...thanks for watching and your input!
