Thanks for the informative video Rick. We purchased the same cart last month - 2024 version. I’m so glad we went with the lithium battery. It’s very easy to plug in every day or so. No range anxiety, great pickup, regenerative brakes, no fueling up, no nasty smell, no loud engine noise. I believe in 5 years they won’t be selling many gas models. Also, not sure if you mentioned it but self canceling turn signals are a must. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I am so happy to hear that you are also enjoying the EZ Go Lithium lifestyle. Yes self canceling are a must and I mention in the video it's not a standard feature but it should be as we consider it a must have. Fun fact on my Golf cart if you push in or pull out the turn signal the horn for the cart will honk.
I think the only controversial part of the video was the 49s logo! Now...if it was the Steelers it would have been fine! Thanks for including the amazon links!

No different than an auto, we all like what we like. When we moved to TV in early 2022 the inventory of both new and used carts was severly low. Fortunately for us, we have a friend who was a former car sales colleague of my husband back in R.I. who now lives in TV and works in sales at Villages Discount Golf Carts and sold us exactly the cart we wanted which is a 2022 4 rear facing seat gas Yahama Quiet Tech which back flips down to make a cargo bed. After having this cart for a year we have absolutely no regrets in purchasing it and where we putchased it from that has provided us great service. And having the two extra seats we are able to take our two grand daughters when they visit by golf cart to the pool, squares, rec centers, etc. And I can say the same purchasing a home with 2 plus a golf cart garage as I can't imagine not having that extra space which has turned onto my she shed where I do all my crafting projects. Glad you are as happy with your cart that meets your needs as we are with ours that meets our needs.
Great comment. If I were to add an additional vehicle it would be another golf cart and it would be a 4 seater for the very reasons you pointed out above. Thank you so much for the view and the wonderful comment.
Electric carts have been know to start fires in garages in The Villages. It has happen many times in the 10 years I have lived here. Also, as the battery ages, you will get less and less distance and power from your battery. You can buy a lot of gas for the cost to replace that battery, and it will eventually need to be replaced.
While you entitled to your opinion, and i totally appreciate it, I would like to offer some facts for people to decide with. According to the Villages Golf Car store "No EZ Go Lithium cart has ever caught fire in a garage." So I would be curious to know more make and model of the Lithium carts which have caught fire. I am sad to say you are ill advised on Lithium battery aging. Lithium's do not age, meaning a loss of power and distance that is a lead acid idea that no longer applies. I will agree that you can buy more gas in fact $3000 worth of gas because that is essentially the upcharge difference in Lithium versus Gas. People will have to decide for themselves if the upfront investment warrants the long term benefits. I could also say you fill an empty tank for $15 and I charge full for less than $2. It's worth mentioning that the most recent Golf Cart fire in Brownwood was a gas cart that went up in flames. On Sept 30 at Brownwood a Gas cart erupted into flames and here is the article. www.villages-news.com/2023/09/30/golf-cart-fire-erupts-during-event-at-brownwood/

You can continue to be skeptical all you want as is your right. However TVGC Store has one of the largest data sets in the world pertaining to Golf Cars since they sell and service one of the largest fleets. You are implying they are knowing selling fire starters with little data to back it up other than some vague references. They have a reputation to maintain in the community as the leading Golf cart retailer and you don't do that by burning customers . I agree the fire department data and even insurance claim data would be beneficial in reviewing. If what you say is true it would be more to insure due to the risk and that's just not the case. Thank you for the civil debate I enjoy the back and forth.
Respectfully disagree. I have an electric car and would never go back to gas vehicle. Even if the battery does need to be replaced it will have value and... at worst case can be recycled/reused for some other purpose. Also statistically a gas vehicle is more likely to catch fire than EV. As an owner with experience, I've discovered a ton of misinformation out there.
One thing you didn’t mention was the bar in the middle of the windshield (to allow the windshield to be folded down). We test drove several golf carts before buying, and that line was right at my wife’s eye level. We purchased the Yamaha QuieTech II (gas) cart and do NOT have that issue. It has the folding bar, but it is not at either of our eye level. I do want to change the rear view mirror on mine, as (being 6’1 myself) is a bit too low for my taste. If you know if a better replacement, I’d CB love to hear it. Pretty much agree with all your other must haves (except seat belts … I’ll have to consider that addition) 🤔 Another great video … keep up the good work.
That is a fantastic point, I did remove my "Air Damn" or Air "Dampener" which I believe was the term the Villages Golf Car store used to describe that particular part. It was the base holding the larger mirror in place. It really is unnecessary and you can see my cart functions very well without it. The low profile mirror that I have now is the one that Villages Golf Cars store installed and I couldn't be happier. I have a much more unobstructed view. I did feel the same way initially towards seatbelts on a golf cart, but the only time I use them is when traveling to and from on any road with other vehicles or the multi-modal trails. Golf Cart accidents do happen and it is possible to be ejected from the golf cart. In theory the seatbelt should stop inertia from causing you additionally bodily harm. Great point and excellent comment as usual. Thank You.

@@GolfingTheVillages not to get off subject of your cart video, but how are you watching Niner games live in Fl.? RUclips TV? Been researching options since we are leaving the bay.
Great question, but Yes we have had RUclips TV for over 3 or more years and we were excited by the acquisition of Sunday Ticket. I have been able to watch every glorious snap from every game. Before that I would either have to watch Redzone or hope they were playing a nationally televised game. One other thing I will mention it's feels foreign at first to not have football start at 10am (pst) on Sunday mornings however living on the east coast I find I can get out play 9 holes, run a couple of errands if necessary and still have plenty of time before 1pm (est) kickoffs.
@@GolfingTheVillages Perfect, appreciate the info. I’ll need to get used to that time difference for sure because I’m an early bird but I like your thinking, T-time first, football after, sounds like a near perfect Sunday!
Thanks for bringing up some points I hadn’t thought about like a higher roof. I’m 6’2” and like you are semi-use to living in an average height world, not always easy. I’ll be down later this month for my first visit to TV and also scheduled a Lifestyle visit for April, hoping TV lives up to all I’ve seen. Yes, awesome, I am glad this video added some value for you. I have no doubts you will enjoy your both your visit and your lifestyle preview. However come back and comment with whatever your experience is. We love to hear both the sweet and salty. The greens are going to be in great shape for both of your visits so that will be nice. Thank You for watching.
TALL people should get a Yamaha. I did, the are 3 to 4" taller than a Club car and the seat of a Club car will fit inside the armrests on a Yamaha. This extra width will allow you to get a center armrest if your looking for custom seats such as El Tigre.
Fun!! Definitely needed this video, I don’t have any experience owning a golf cart, so this was good! As a Seahawks fan.. I must say your cart is hideous.. :-) however makes me excited about the idea of moving down there, watching football with fellow fans and eating potluck.
Thank You so much, I am glad you enjoyed it. You will be in good company as I have seen a handful of Seahawks themed Golf Carts tooling around The Villages. I spoke with one on my lifestyle preview who was thrilled he made the move.
The Villages is a sport lovers dream fandom. Between all the various clubs for cites, teams, the neighborhood parties, outdoor restaurant/bar seating, you will find like minded individuals to watch games with.
I am a golf cart geek and I love your video. You brought up an important topic pertaining to range. 50+ miles range with the lithium battery and the ability to travel with the only sound being the friction between the road and rubber tires. How often if ever would a person find themselves traveling more than 50 miles in any given day? I guess it could be done. I guess if you feel you might be going more than 50+ miles per day, then you should get the gas cart. I know for sure I will be taking a serious look at the lithium battery golf cart. Enjoy driving in silence!
Hello, Thank You so much for watching and commenting. Yes I agree completely with your comments. If you need 50+ miles in a day that at this point then a Gas cart is your friend. As this video ages the villages is getting bigger and battery range is improving. Kevin Butler was the Sales Associate at The Villages Golf Cart store in Magnolia that helped me with some of my questions for the video. I am sure if you give him a jingle he can give you the latest specs on the Lithium models they are stocking.
Rick, Thanks for doing this video. Loved all of the bells and whistles on your cart. Love the lights and the side curtains. I am surprised I did not see a golf cart fan on your rig. I live in another over 55 community. Ours is fairly large and has 63 holes of golf. The electric EZGO is the way to go. I would guess that yours new is a 17-18k plus cart with all of the features. I would love to get that cart. However, have to keep my 1999 Club Car (named OLD RED} because I need a new roof right now. Enjoy your cart. The 8 year battery guarantee is a big selling point. So if you assume a 10 battery life, buy the cart new, replace the battery at 10yrs for $3200, you get to $1000 per year for 20 yrs at the end of the cart's life with a dead battery and some kind of salvage value.
Hello, Welcome it was my pleasure. Thank you for all the kind words on my cart and for watching. I haven't had the need for a fan as of yet however I do own a Mr. Heater for the cold. Last time I had to use it was when I was in lived in Texas. I do so enjoy hearing about other golf communities due to the fact that is how we became interested in and ultimately found the Villages. Correct the EZ GO Lithium does place about a 3K premium on the price versus Gas carts and you are spot on with the overall price point I paid. I should also mention that The Villages Golf Car store no longer even sells a lead acid battery cart. I believe the quote was, it's a dead technology. You are down to just lithium battery or internal combustion engines. Thank You so much for watching and commenting. I hope to hear from you again.
Thank you for the post. We’ve been in the Villages for a couple months now and are getting ready to purchase a cart. Other than a couple test drives, this is new to us. But, we are leaning heavily to a lithium cart. Was wondering if you investigated other manufacturers, especially the Club Car, and what your opinion is on them.
My pleasure, I am glad to be of some assistance. As of the time of posting The Villages Golf Cart store was only selling EZ-Go and Star-EV Lithium carts. There are a number of other retailers in the area selling other carts, such as the Atomic Cool Cart etc, but I am unable to provide an informed opinion on them. I am aware that Club Car has a Lithium model but at the time of filming TV Golf Cart store didn't stock them. I don't know the status of the Club Car Lithium model as it pertains to TV Golf cart store at this time. Thank you for the comment and questions.
Thank you Rick - great informative video. I understand The Villages Golf Cart Store requires an annual service to maintain the warranty. Why would there be a need for that with a LI golf cart? Very minimal parts compared to a gas
Great question, so with my annual service I was asked to bring in the charger. As I understand it they monitor the overall health of the battery (covered under warranty) along with applying an updates to the cart as well as addressing any manufacturer recall/updates for any outstanding model specific issues. Of course they also have a multi-point inspection of the cart which they perform as well. It was a flawless process and I was even provided a complimentary loaner for the duration of my service. The Villages Golf cart store completed the service in under 5 hours. I was very happy with the process and I have no issues with having that be my regular maintenance program. Wonderful question, thank you so much.
Great video Rick for those of us looking into moving to the villages that’s great information you gave us. Congrats on the 49ers they’re an awesome team. Just wondering, were you born or did you live in California?
Hi Jon, thank you so much for watching. I am glad the video added a bit of value for you. Yes I was born and raised in SF California and was treated to the Montana dynasty in my Youth and then a little extension with Steve Young.
In my opinion, golf carts are the way to go due to the fact that you don’t have to spend extra money filling up the gas tank. If you really need to go out that far, you’re better off going out in your car. The biggest thing with golf cars is keeping the batteries charged And not over charged. I learned this from my husband as he is a diesel mechanic. Thanks for the the video. Do you have a new subscriber?
Thank you so much for watching and for the excellent comment. You bring up a great point about the charging, what I didn't show on camera was the special charging unit which came with the cart. It allows me to plug into any standard wall outlet and it regulates the charge. Thank You so much.
You should have gotten a Yamaha. Their carts are about 3" taller which I like because I am 6' tall. The Yamaha seats are about 4" wider, you can take a club car seat and it will fit in between the armrests on the Yamaha. Also I have a gas cart, so I dont have to pay $700 to $800 for batteries in 5 years.
Yes I agree that the extra height and width of the Yamaha would be nice to have in the EZ-Go; however but I can't stand the smell of exhaust fumes and the running noise of the so called quiet tech motors on the Yamaha. To me both of those negatives cancel out any potential benefit of a roomier cabin. According to my Villages Golf Car paperwork I have a 3 year factory Warranty from EZ Go and 8 Year Unlimited Amp Hour Battery Warranty so I am sleeping well at night. After 8 years, I'll be happy to update the video with any out of pocket costs I am hit with. If it were really worrisome I could have used my gas savings money to fund an account for possible battery replacement, but again I'm just not worried. According to some other comments my cart will have blown up or caught on fire by then so 8 years feels like an eternity. Thank You for the comment, i appreciate your point of view.
Thank You, yes the handles are built into the roof. As a driver I find it useless but as a passenger it provides you the ability to stabilize yourself. With the armrest up and riding as a passenger I have used it many times.
$19600 for my Golf Cart, I would guess another $600 or so on the accessories. The accessories I have shown are displayed in Amazon Affiliate links if you are interested in real time current pricing. Thanks for the question.
We have made many trips from our house in the north to south many times in our ga s GC. W e have his and hers gas GC both with hard side option. Our car rarely leaves the garage we enjoy the long drive in our GC. Same goes for don’t get made at GC because they pass you just ❤like a car might. Also we didn’t have seat belts on the MC so on a GC isn’t neaded. In the end a GC a personal choice.
That's quite the trek if you are traveling from the Spanish Springs area down to Southern Oaks, it's an hour plus each way. I also suspect you aren't doing that on a regular basis but from time to time which proves my point about range. The extended range which is the major selling point of Gas over Electric is rarely realized. If your daily round trips are more than 60 miles a day in The Villages then yes you need a Gas cart. Plus the Villages is only getting larger you may need a Gas cart if you are coming from Spanish to the new Eastport area. Who knows, one day The Villages Golf Cart store or the town squares will open up charging stations for Electrics. Wouldn't it be great to be able to charge while you putt around the town squares. The future is fun. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@GolfingTheVillages twice a week traveling south. I realize you are an electric person, me nope, gas is great. Plus I help contribute to maintain the roads with gas tax.
I installed the speaker myself. It has several types of mounting brackets and installation options included with the unit. The battery is that large unit on the back it just clicks in place. The headroom in my cart was a bit low as I showed in the video but you could mount it into the frame of the golf cart by drilling some holes and using a bolt up system. I installed it on the canopy frame/basket section of my cart which I think worked out very well and gives me access to the buttons and rechargeable battery. Wonderful question, I hope my answer was helpful.
Great question, I have a west facing garage which can be especially hot during summer especially at sunset and I have had zero issues. I have charged the cart during the day, evening and I have had no issues at all. From what I understand the charger has overcharge protection and some people leave it plugged in all the time. I charged the cart and left it unplugged for 2 weeks just sitting and the battery was still fully charged and ready to go. My experience has been a positive one.
The answer is it depends on the classification of the Polaris as a vehicle type, and you would need to clarify with a district representative . The DistrictGov.org website which sets forth the guidelines current reads as follows "Multi-modal paths are intended for the enjoyment of non-automotive traffic such as bicycles, golf cars and pedestrians. Vehicles are not permitted on any of the multi-modal paths in The Villages, which includes automobiles, smart cars, motorcycles or mopeds." Here is a link to the District Website; www.districtgov.org/ and here is a link to the PDF for the Multi-Modal: www.districtgov.org/PdfUpload/VCDD103_Multi-Modal%20Paths_Flyer_5.5x8.5_0123.pdf I hope this helps a bit. I'm getting some strange audio around the 6:30 mark, like something else is playing. (And FTR, I know it's not since the other audio quits when I pause it.
Are you able to describe the strange audio sound more specifically? I reviewed the audio with my headphones and I'm flipping the cooler lid up and down and I don't hear anything other than Amy saying "Nice" in the background.
At about the 6:00 the audio starts talking about undercarriage lighting while the video is demonstrating the removability of the cooler on the back of the cart. That seems to be where the problem starts. You can clearly hear the cooler being opened and closed and a woman speaking along with the narrative which is obviously speaking of something else entirely.
At the 6:09 mark I hear the microphone getting bumped, but that's about it. I have voice over audio which was recorded in post production and the other audio is from the shoot day. I'm sorry that you are having issues with the audio.
@@GolfingTheVillages, it's rather obvious you added the narrative after the video was shot. But at around the 6:00 mark you start talking about the LED lighting while the video is concentrated on the cooler and ball washer. It seems to go back to normal for the next segment.
The Atomic Cool car's are another type of golf cart which is enclosed. Due to that fact they have built in AC units. Typically you run the flaps (sunbrella material) down when it rains, and leave them up when it's sunny. You get plenty of free cool air when you are riding along, including when you drop the windshield down. I have seen a couple videos of makeshift AC units that can attach to golf carts on you tube, but it's an awful lot of work for something that has such a small benefit. After living here full time for 2.5 years I never once have said, "I wish I had AC in the Golf cart." Great question, thank you for asking.
Walking does help but unfortunately it wasn't the only answer. The 30 pounds I lost in the last month are 100% attributed to what I am eating, or more specifically what I am not eating. However I appreciate the encouragement. Thank You.
The only problem I have with your golf cart is that stencil on the hood, because I grew up in Southern California, yes I’m going to say it I’m a Dodger fan. Sorry. How ever my wife was born in San Francisco she had to be a Dodger fan and Rams fan
I totally understand loyalty to a team and location. Even though my beloved city by the sea has turned a bit salty over the past few years the sweet note is that my beloved 49ers are currently 4-0 as of this reply.
2-2 is not bad and their is a long way to go. If the Niners win the Division the Rams will need to rack up wins for a potential Wildcard spot. I say the have a decent chance.
Same here: Gas only (no interest in anything electric, be it a golf cart or EV). And that's partly because -- even though I wouldn't be going out every day -- when I DO go out it's likely I'd do more that 50 miles. Presently, I'm looking at a gas Club Car Onward Lifted 4-seater. If I need to go OUTSIDE The Villages, I'll have my Jeep. :-) -- BR
I am sorry you feel that way. I thought I made the case for Electric over Gas. I mentioned the crucial speed limits for Florida LSV. I also made a case for springing for the upgraded seats, getting the self canceling turn signals, side mirrors are standard, upgrading to the narrow rear view mirror, getting the floor mats, getting the speaker, not getting the under carriage lights, not getting the wheel lights, getting the club and ball washer (for golfers), and getting the net for grocery shopping but yeah I guess no information at all.

I’ll be down later this month for my first visit to TV and also scheduled a Lifestyle visit for April, hoping TV lives up to all I’ve seen. Also enjoy all your GTV videos, can’t wait to get out on some courses!
Great video, Rick! It's a good looking cart and the endless option would confuse any consumer. Thanks for your opinion.
Thank You so much for watching, I am glad you enjoyed it.
@@GolfingTheVillages the football 🏈 hangouts must be off the chain!! Was there a draft party? The draft is so much fun to watch with fellow fans
I am sure if you give him a jingle he can give you the latest specs on the Lithium models they are stocking.
wow nice ride!
Thank you so much. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
Super helpful video!
Thank you so much, glad to be of assistance.
Wonderful question, thank you so much.
good video - very informative - what is total amount of $ for this awesome ride?
We paid the Villages Golf Car store $19600 total, and we received a slight discount for an all cash purchase.
Nice job, appreciate the effort!
Thank you so much.
Thank you and keep up the good content!
Thank You again and will do!
My eyes are very sensitive to the sunshine, so I purchased the sun visors option.
Excellent comment, that is a great available option to share with people in a similar situation. Thank You.
I'm not sure how I arrived here. I clicked on a playlist of diesel trucks ripping through golf courses and this video came up. 🤣 Go Algorithm!
Wow that is strange, I have been down the RUclips rabbit hole a few times as well. Hopefully you find something interesting about it.
Like the speakers
Yes, I totally agree. It's performed well for over a year and a half in all the weather conditions.
Nice cart for sure. Does the roof have handles? Why?
Thank You, yes the handles are built into the roof. As a driver I find it useless but as a passenger it provides you the ability to stabilize yourself. With the armrest up and riding as a passenger I have used it many times.
@@GolfingTheVillages thanks. I thought it helped with parking in the garage
Don't have one yet...really appreciate all the good info!!
No worries, I hope you are armed with a little more knowledge if you do decide on a golf cart. Thanks for watching!
What did you pay for your cart and accessories?
$19600 for my Golf Cart, I would guess another $600 or so on the accessories. The accessories I have shown are displayed in Amazon Affiliate links if you are interested in real time current pricing. Thanks for the question.
I really like the world of EV because of its stealth like characteristics. Especially when I would head to Brownwood’s Dunkin’ Donuts!
I agree, and put me down for a chocolate old fashioned donut, lol. Thank You
We have made many trips from our house in the north to south many times in our ga s GC.
Yes indeed.
Who installed the speaker system and battery? Was it hard?
I installed the speaker myself. It has several types of mounting brackets and installation options included with the unit. The battery is that large unit on the back it just clicks in place. The headroom in my cart was a bit low as I showed in the video but you could mount it into the frame of the golf cart by drilling some holes and using a bolt up system. I installed it on the canopy frame/basket section of my cart which I think worked out very well and gives me access to the buttons and rechargeable battery. Wonderful question, I hope my answer was helpful.
A big help. You whole video and tips!@@GolfingTheVillages
I am so glad to hear that, Thank you for reaching out.
Great video , thanks
Thank You so much!
Would there be a problem keeping your electric golf cart in hot garage?
Great question, I have a west facing garage which can be especially hot during summer especially at sunset and I have had zero issues. I have charged the cart during the day, evening and I have had no issues at all. From what I understand the charger has overcharge protection and some people leave it plugged in all the time. I charged the cart and left it unplugged for 2 weeks just sitting and the battery was still fully charged and ready to go. My experience has been a positive one.
IS THERE A RUN ON GOLF CARTS.
No, The Villages Golf Car stores appear to be flush with inventory.
Love that 49ers
Thank You so much, we were heart broken with the Super Bowl loss, but still die hard 49er fans for life. Thank You.
What brand are the seats?.???
Great question, the are El Tigre American Sportster Highback with two adjustable Arms.
No pool noodle holder?
Not a specific location when we are loaded up with Golf bags, but when the bags come off and we head to the pool the noodles sit in the bag well area.
Can I use my Polaris ranger sxs on these routes?
Thank You
@@GolfingTheVillages thanks for the info 👍🏻
My pleasure.
It’s important to yell at the speeders and immediately report them.
Personally I avoid altercations but I have witnessed what you described. Who do you report speeders to?
@@GolfingTheVillages I was kidding Kind of.
It's all good, humor is always welcome!
Thank you for the info.
How much?
I assume you mean for the Golf Cart, We paid the Villages Golf Car store $19600 total.
What about air/conditioner?
Are there carts with that by now ? Good god man you’d roast in that ! With all that sumbrella material
Walk the course it’s great for weight loss.😉
@@GolfingTheVillages
Yeah after the Rams last Super Bowl they have been pretty bad it looks like another bad season.
2-2 is not bad and their is a long way to go. If the Niners win the Division the Rams will need to rack up wins for a potential Wildcard spot. I say the have a decent chance.
New golf carts are way overpriced in the extreme. Easy to find a used one under $10,000 that will last 20 years or more.
Absolutely, buying a used golf cart can be a smart and cost-effective decision!
I will be buying a new home so it will be gasoline , I don’t wanna have to worry about range.
I understand and respect that decision. The Yamaha seems like the most popular Gas Cart option.

Man overboard! 😛
Thank you for watching.
This is mis-named video. It should be look at what I did to my cart. No real information here.
