Listening to Graham and his passion for what he is doing and has done at Carus Green, makes me really want to go down there and play and give him my money. Loved listening to him. One of the best things I've ever watched on youtube.
What a thoroughly enthralling character and speaker Graham is! Very genuine, smart, and honest throughout. A real insight into the ownership and running of his club, and I'm sure every member of any club in the land could do with hearing some of the home truths about what it takes to keep their courses and clubs open and in top condition! Thanks guys, loved it!
What an insight on how to build up a club, can’t believed I watched a whole video without skipping through. Definitely a consultancy opportunity there for Graham and his business partner with municipal and members clubs.
“All good businessmen should have an exit plan, and you won’t be surprised to find out that I haven’t got one”. Brilliant. This is a cracking video. As a member of Carus Green I am very grateful that we have such good custodians in Graham and Morris. The truth is they have overseen year on year improvements to the course and facilities. It just keeps getting better. And even with increases in fees, it will still be a great deal for members. Thank you to Graham, Morris, and the whole CG team.
I think this is one of the most honest and genuine interviews I've ever had the pleasure to watch on RUclips! Graham comes across as an amazing individual with a focus on all of the correct things in life and not just the £££ a business can generate. I'm fortunate to be a member of a club with an owner which I believe is in a similar mould and who puts so much back into the club which they only took over 3 months before COVID struck and which was in need of serious help. Now I'm a proud member of a club that has 2 full 18 hole courses, driving range and decent clubhouse run by mainly brilliant staff who genuinely want to be part of it. Interesting to hear the discussion on membership fees and makes me feel grateful that I'm a member of a club with 2 full courses (all be it not great condition this time of year as clay based!) but with a 7 day membership of around £760, amazing value even with the little golf I can actually play still keeping it affordable. Keep up the amazing journey and would love to play at your club some day. @Liam if you are ever in th3 Bedfordshire area, would love to show your around our club/courses as really enjoy your content and sure Ebay Pete would love it too! 😀 Cheers
What a great podcast guys, very well done. Absolutely loved it. As for Graeme the owner he should be so proud of what he’s achieved with the course but the fact he also sings the praises of his staff & business partner in helping him achieve his goals shows him as a true gent also.
Like I said on Today's video, you've set a high bar with this 1st podcast on 'Fore Four Two'. Good luck with the channel, and good luck to Graham and Carus Green. Such investment of time and money, deserves success.
Genuine gem Graham is. Had me ready to help bring a course back to life. Lost me at not playing for years. Very much want to holiday there more than the famous courses he mentioned.
This is a video all members of all clubs need to watch as it may explain many things and stop a lot of the vocalization of varying frustrations given the greater understanding this will bring. Hat's off to all at Carus Green and this is one course and stay joining my list.
Fascinating stuff. As a retired Bank Manager of over 30 years, I can understand completely where Graham is coming from. He is a man who lives and breathes his business. His commitment to it over the past years and going forward shows his belief in his labour of love!! The club I am a member of is also privately owned and I have discussed the VAT issue with the owners….they also have a Top Tracer driving range!! Most importantly he has got the right people in the key positions to help him and looks like he now is reaping the rewards. Good luck going forward Graham.
My son and I were at Carus Green yesterday for an unforgettable training day with Adam Lynn and Simon Edwards. I hadn’t seen this interview and we passed Graham a few times without realising who he was. What a lovely and impressive bloke. Congratulations to him on creating such a great facility and recruiting such committed, genuine and brilliant people.
If this is the first of this type of video, sign me up, fantastic to see and hear the blood sweat and tears from the owner, on my list when I return to UK, great work guys.
I played at Carus Green over the summer, an event Liam and the club organised. It was a fantastic day and experience; the golf course was a pleasure to play in a beautiful setting with a cracking clubhouse. I got to meet Graeme, and what an absolute gentleman! Love to return someday ⛳👏🏼
What a pleasure to listen to Graham tell his story, but the questions from Liam and John were first class, in their debut podcast. If this is the standard we are in for real treat with this new channel, good luck, please many more if you can.
One of the most interesting podcasts I've seen and loved every minute of it. Graham comes over as a boss that you would go the extra mile for, a real nice guy. And the prices, half of what I have to pay at my local club! I'm sure the club will go from strength to strength given the team he has managed to surround himself with. Looking forward to watching more, John McG is a great addition to your team.... Well done!
We played here today - met a top guy on the driving range (excellent) who joined us for the round. It’s 15 Dec 22 and it was -7c when we started at 11.30…and was -4c when we finished. Loved every minute and we’re looking forward to going back. Lovely set up - had a great bacon buttie before the start, and mince pies afterwards. A top day, thanks.
Super podcast. As a business owner myself his direct answers were refreshing and had me shaking my head in agreement. And I’m also fascinated by the economics of golf. Wonderful job guys!
You’ve set a standard with that interview, really enjoyed the company of Graham. I played the course on Sunday in the frost and we loved it, can’t wait to go back in warmer climates. 👍❤️
Excellent interview, great questions and allowed Graham the chance to talk without butting in (my pet hate of most interviewers). Gave every golfer an insight to what goes on behind the scenes and the dedication required to make it work.
I've been on a golf committee for over 12mths and never come close to knowing this type of detail. Fabulous insight. Great interview with quality questions and 1st class, honest answers! Well done lads! 👏 👏 👏
Carus Green, what a fantastic insight into owning and running a golf course what an amazing story from beginning to end you have set the bar incredibly high for these series , wishing this format every success.
I don't watch many podcasts all the way through as I have a very short attention span. I was truly entertained by Graham's story and what a journey all the best.
That was a fantastic podcast, to listen to a club owner !! I am the first to moan about my golf club but when you listen to a owner explain about costs and investments it does make you realise how tough it is to make ends meet and keep everybody happy !!!! Brilliant Liam and John and thank you Graham for your honesty !!!👍👍
Best 49 minutes you will watch. What a behind the scenes look at the nuts n bolts of a golf club. Scary the cost that there all facing now. Liam great vlog for your 1st on the new channel
Enjoyed that chat, Graham seems a top chap who has worked blooming hard to have built what he has got up there in the lake district. If I am ever up there I am popping in.
Wow what a genuine honest guy. Membership bargin everywhere round Leicestershire is £1000 plus and some clubs there is a waiting list. Great podcast guys
I know this has been out for some time, watched it again, Graeme’s passion for the course and club is amazing, 50 employees, it’s a little village of its own. He has contributed so much to the community, a brilliant chap. The VAT aspect is really poor, the government needs to step up and support this business that employs 50 people!
Fantastic podcast really good watch and insight into how a club and course are set up and run. Great course great club house best in the county. Food is excellent and not expensive well worth a visit for any golf mate that hadn't visited. Carus run some excellent opens throughout the year.
It’s great when RUclips chucks a suggestion at you and it’s a gem. What a great video, and I could listen to Graham for hours, his enthusiasm for the course and what he’s made is there in buckets. Thanks for the video guys, I’ll off to view some more of your content, if this is the standard then you’ve got a new sub and regular viewer.
Bonus….. Just seen the Dowdy video, so I’m watching that now. I also used to referee local football in Stoke-on-Trent, and I remember Phil refereeing some of my matches when I played in the Hanley & District league when he started out. I then progressed to refereeing up to the Senior League, Phil used to come to our Referee’s Society and did some much for local referee’s. The area has produced so my great referee’s, and Simon Bennett has just been out to Qatar officiating in the World Cup, and Phil will have helped him when he started out.
Amazing honest insight, good to see a businessman who had an clear idea of what he wanted to achieve, put everything into it, and is now reaping the rewards. Top video.
What a fantastic Pod Cast with the owner Grahame giving us a fabulous insight to the ownership and running of a golf course. He seems like a very genuine and down to earth guy and he deserves every success.
What a brilliant interview. So refreshing to have someone so open and interesting. Having played there, huge respect for everyone involved in CARUS - great course, facilities and people
Briĺliant interview as ever! It was really interesting to listen to, well thought out questions, and expertly answered by Graeme. Can't wait to find out who you've got next.
What a refreshing watch ! Bravo Graham. Some friends and I are in Bowness in January 2023 and (weather permitting) We will play at Carus Green. Our Bowness trip is an annual thing and last year a smashing chap that We met advised Us to play Carus, sadly We chose otherwise. However. In '23 albeit January, at MINIMUM We shall visit Carus, for at least We can use Your TopTracer Driving Range for a Virtual Round and put Our Money into Your Investment. SUGGESTION: Your Annual Membership is MUCH less than 50% of what I currently pay here on Merseyside, MUCH LESS. Why not offer a "Second Membership Membership" for those of Us with an England Golf Number (or indeed Scots, Welsh or Irish) ? We pay You the fee once We renew locally and You give Us "Secondary Membership Fees" at Carus Green. Perhaps set at the cost 3 Players for a weekend Fourball ? (with suitable reservations) That way, You get prior payment. Best of Luck Graham & Carus Green.
Liam. Your association with your "Hero" John McGinley is an inspired move. This new channel is opening the other side of golf that few of us have the opportunity to Know. I'm looking forward to seeing how it blossoms/⛳🌳🌳
Excellent interview! Pretty eye-opening for a lot of Golf Club members I'm sure. Especially those who always complain about fees and course conditions.
Carus Green ..⛳⛳⛳i really enjoyed this episode .. what a humble honest man Graham is .. a family man following a dream .. and made it happen .. good luck to you Graham ⛳⛳⛳
Loved this podcast, best one I’ve watched for years. Graham comes across as such a great guy. Passionate and caring, i could listen to him for hours. I’m sure he makes a great gaffer. Cheers golfmates.
Great first podcast guys. The bar has definitely been set high! Looking forward to more. Graham was very open and honest and was interesting to listen to 👍👍
Firstly let me say what a really great video as a look from a rather different golf presepctive than normal was I felt it was really quite spell binding & got me '' hooked like the proverable kipper' & as a business man myself, the logical & perhaps honest answers were eye opening & actually factual I believe & quite a subtle different point of view you usually don't get to hear, which in itself is very refreshing & to me the way both John & you allowed Graham to have time to give his answers his way was again a refreshing twist we very rarely see from interviews nowerdays so a very 'big up' for that. It was clearly a success story from where he was from his original purchase to where he actually finds himself business wise today which believe me does not come without dedication, major risk & loads of effort so well done to him also the way he also realises the part the other people play in making this golf club such a shining example to so very many around today. When you said you were going off down this road I did wonder firstly why & would it work ? Well if this is anything to go bye then more of the same please, this was not your usual bish, bash & bosh a laugh every minute this is as far & away look at real life so as said earlier more please. Perhaps this maybe unfair to say butI wish we could find more Golf club owners, CEO's or chairman share his oulook & views then maybe it would become far more inclusive rather than exclusive picture golf currently portrays itself, so more like this Liam & thank you for this cracker...👍👍
I have just given up as Treasure of a members club that just increased their subscriptions by £20 to £350 for full membership and some members complained about the size of increase ! Generally members have little idea of what is involved in maintaining a golf club and they would do well to view this excellent video.
Carus Green. This is the most enjoyable golf video I’ve watched in years. Graham is such a down to earth person and didn’t avoid answering any questions. If the other podcasts are anything like this one you’re onto a winner. Would love to play the course but I’m in South Wales and its a bit of a trek. Looking forward to future podcasts 👏👏👏
Love Carus Green and fantastic too see the face behind the club, great interview, top bloke, wish him all the luck in the future, will be back at Carus in 2023, and good luck with 442 , very good watch keep up the good work
Liam. What a great first podcast. I will admit that when I first saw it, I was not that interested in watching. But once I watched the clip, I started and really enjoyed it. All the best for this new adventure, and I can't wait to see more of them. We'll done Liam ⛳️🏌♂️👍
Absolutely class podcast, real honest insight to the reality of running a golf course. I’ll definitely be giving it a visit to offer my support. Hope Graham and his staff go from strength to strength.
Great interview boys I spent ten mins talking to graham at the golf mates day never realised he was the owner top man and what a fantastic venue he’s created 🙌🏻
This was a great insight into owning a golf course. Could listen to the three of you chat about golf all day. Graham especially a joy to listen to. Keep it up boys.
Wow what an insight into the ownership & frightening costs of running a golf course. As members of golf courses I think this podcast has opened a few eyes maybe we won't be complaining of the fees as much. We'll done Liam & John great first podcast only going to get better this new channel.👍
I started coming to Carrus Green back in 2005 as a visitor, mainly to use the driving range! Wow it’s change so much since then! What Graham and Dave Turner continue to do here is truly magnificent, and I continue to come through each year with my family to enjoy this amazing family friendly club. #magnificent 🏌️
Loved this format. What a guy he is...speaks with great pride and passion, a true Captain of his team. Maybe we could have a new series called ' True Gems ' to accompany the Hidden Gems 🤔
really enjoyed that , great interview , some very honest and insightful answers. Graham seems like a genuine great guy who has done great things there so long may it continue.
Absolutely love this, it must be challenging for clubs to maintain their standards in these difficult times but we as visitors have to do our bit where we can to ensure these clubs survive and thrive. I will definitely be visiting Carus in 2023. Well done on showcasing this course and look forward to seeing more podcasts in the future.
Listening to Graham and his passion for what he is doing and has done at Carus Green, makes me really want to go down there and play and give him my money. Loved listening to him. One of the best things I've ever watched on youtube.

What a brilliant start, Graham is a great bloke
What a top bloke. So good hearing things about behind the scenes with running and improving a course. Top video
Liam. What a great first podcast. I will admit that when I first saw it, I was not that interested in watching. But once I watched the clip, I started and really enjoyed it. All the best for this new adventure, and I can't wait to see more of them. We'll done Liam ⛳️🏌♂️👍
“ no one remembers the semi rough “ great quote Graham 😂⛳️👍
What a mate, hands on knows how things work and run, and just there for his members.. couldnt ask for a better owner
Absolutely class podcast, real honest insight to the reality of running a golf course. I’ll definitely be giving it a visit to offer my support. Hope Graham and his staff go from strength to strength.
Fantastic start to the podcasts, what a great fellow Graham is.
He is a top man
Great interview boys I spent ten mins talking to graham at the golf mates day never realised he was the owner top man and what a fantastic venue he’s created 🙌🏻
This was a great insight into owning a golf course. Could listen to the three of you chat about golf all day. Graham especially a joy to listen to. Keep it up boys.
Glad you enjoyed it b
I dont normally do pod cast, but I really enjoyed this one.
That was absolutely brilliant
Makes you respect all the work staff and members do at our own golf courses
Fantastic podcast. I own a course in Cheshire and Graham speaks so well for the game.
really enjoyed that , great interview , some very honest and insightful answers. Graham seems like a genuine great guy who has done great things there so long may it continue.
great viewing , great content , looking forward to more . thank you Liam ,Graham and Super John
Graham is an inspiration, wonderful to listen to him. Thank you.
Thank you
Absolutely love this, it must be challenging for clubs to maintain their standards in these difficult times but we as visitors have to do our bit where we can to ensure these clubs survive and thrive. I will definitely be visiting Carus in 2023. Well done on showcasing this course and look forward to seeing more podcasts in the future.
Superb and honest interview opened my eyes to what it takes to run a golf club and what people take for granted 👏👏👍
