Thank you Nicole - I have wanted to know how to create a leather cuff forever and cannot wait to see how to finish the project off with the clasp. Love you on instagram - where I first found you! Your work is amazing and so , so inspiring! ❤
Wow! This is one of the best videos I’ve ever watched. It’s so appreciated how you describe exactly how you’re doing something, WHY you’re doing it that way, and exactly what materials and tools you are using. I will be watching more of your videos for sure. Would you please do a video showing how to finish the band with some sort of clasp?
Great tutorial Nicole!!! I have made rivets before , but it has been a while, so thank for showing the Nicole way to make rivets!!! There is nothing on RUclips or there was nothing about 1 year ago about using sterling silver rivets the way you attached your rivets through leather and a bezel or a beautiful fern that you designed. I’m looking forward to your next tutorial… thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I also checked out your website and hopefully soon I can take one of your classes that you offer… your work is so inspiring. And the truth is the truth your instructions are very clear, calm and straight to the point..❤❤❤ Hugs 🤗, Michelle
GREAT tip on using only the weight of the hammer when creating the rivet; sometimes less is more. Do you have any worries regarding the leaves of the fern catching and being bent away from the cuff?
That was awesome! I definitely want to try it out! When mushrooming out the rivet on the backside of the feather, would you advise laying it on a piece of leather or something soft so the front does not marr?
That certainly wouldn't hurt. I sometimes lay mine on a sand bag. However, you shouldn't see much (if any) marring if you only use the weight of teh hammer and don't apply extra force.
Great question! It really doesn't need to be protected. When flaring the rivet I am only using the weight of the (light-weight) hammer. If I were to be using more force I would probably rivet on top of a sand bag instead. Does that make sense?
Absolutely makes sense … I enjoy making cold connections, but I admit I’m a bit of a brute when it comes to any kind of hammering and usually have some clean up to do. Probably why my first thought was “how come she has no marks?” 😁
I’ve been making leather bracelets with a slide setting for my cabs but would love to try this, any precautions for stone setting with the rivet inside the bezel setting? Also can’t wait for the closure video. Been buying button studs but would prefer to hand fabricate everything.
Hey Nicole. Great tutorial. Do you anneal your wire before you cut length to use for rivets? Do you find the wire bends? Is it easier to rivet or too soft? Half hard? Thanks as always.
You share such beautiful creative projects. 🤩 Also, thank you so much for all of the wonderful information you share. 👍🙏😊
I have learned something new and beautiful with leather, and even to make washers, what a great idea Nicole! Thank you so much for be an inspiration🙏.
I was just thinking today if I could rivet a bezel set cab to something. And there you are. Thank you so much!
Awesome! How timely!
This is so great! And wonderful close up video. Thx

Thank you so much! I’ve never seen such great instruction for rivets with leather. 👏🏻♥️
Yay! Thank YOU!
Thank you!…❤ I am going to be looking for the next tutorial! You’re so generous 😊😊😊
So pretty. Thank you thank you❣️

Thank you for your kind comment! Yes, I plan on adding the clasp as my next tutorial later this week. Stay tuned!
Yay for Nicole. Love this.
Absolutely bloody brilliant!! Wow!!!
Can't wait for the class!
Can’t wait to see how you make the clasp. Always interesting to see how someone else has done this. My attempts have seemed way more complicated.
I'll try to have that recorded and uploaded by the middle of next week!
You are fabulous thank you so much for the tutorial

Come play!
I learned something new ❤ thank u
Thank you! ♥️
Thank you for class 😉
GREAT tip on using only the weight of the hammer when creating the rivet; sometimes less is more.
Do you have any worries regarding the leaves of the fern catching and being bent away from the cuff?
I don't given the thicker gauge of the silver, and I bend the fronds downward toward the metal.
That was awesome! I definitely want to try it out! When mushrooming out the rivet on the backside of the feather, would you advise laying it on a piece of leather or something soft so the front does not marr?

What are you protecting the fabricated fern piece when riveting? I did not see any marks on the “rib” of the fern when you were finished.
Great question! It really doesn't need to be protected. When flaring the rivet I am only using the weight of the (light-weight) hammer. If I were to be using more force I would probably rivet on top of a sand bag instead. Does that make sense?

Just be sure that the rivet is super flush against the bezel back plate. I will make the closure and post the tutorial this coming week. Thank you!
I love this, I’ve watched several times now. Does the rivet under the cabochon make the stone wobble?
I haven't had that experience. You just need to be sure that the rivet is super flush with the bezel back plate.
@@ringgoldnicthank you! I have been collecting old belts for this purpose but never could quite figure out how to do it ❤
excellent! I'll next show how to fabricate the clasp, so stay tuned! Let me know how it goes on your end.@@flowerabby
Hi from Argentina! Love your video, wanna know wich kind of flux do you use to avoid firescale? Is from Rio grande?
I use My-T-Flux and yes, I do get it from Rio Grande
Hey Nicole. Great tutorial. Do you anneal your wire before you cut length to use for rivets? Do you find the wire bends? Is it easier to rivet or too soft? Half hard? Thanks as always.
I use half hard round wire and I don't anneal. Otherwise it would bend too easily.
