if you are doing a stitch filled patch, stabilizer is enough! If you are creating a patch without a stitch fill, you'll need fabric as the back ground. So it depends on the design.

@@ricomatv In that video you guys used a special (and I assume very expensive) heat press. Don't you think the durability would be much worse with an iron like in this video?
HI there, thanks so much for watching. From scratch - takes longer due to the process and cleanup but is cheaper. On a blank - faster and easier but more expensive since you will need to purchase the blanks. Hope this helps!
Could you have placed the adhesive paper, under the stabilizer and hoop it. And thus sew the design into the adhesive paper itself and save the step of having to melt it and cool it?
Hi there, thanks so much for watching. This is a great question to ask in our Facebook support group, Embroidery and Custom Apparel Mastery. The fact that you are putting it in the hoop with stretch it out by itself. Place the backing on the bottom part of the hoop then press the top hoop into it and voila.
If I need to do a patch that includes fill stitch plus applique, should I use fabric and cut away to create the patch? or just do it straight on the cut away? and if I had to use fabric as base does it has to be 100% poly? or it could be any kind of fabric? Please reply

Because in some cases (like print on demand) you wont be able to predict what color and what size shirt will be ordered. So the patches are made ahead of time and can be pressed in seconds rather than doing the long process of embroidering the shirts after the order is made. Or you may have a customer who wants just the patches to press on various blanks for themselves.
Nice work... I would like to see how you digitized this patch please make a video
Great suggestion!
Another great tutorial! Thank you! I want to make some patches for my frontline RN buddies!
Go for it! Thanks for watching
Awesome! I would also lime to see how its digitized!
Great suggestion!
Helpful! Also, do you need a base fabric for the patch or creating the patch directly on the stabilizer is acceptable? Thank you!

Don't see why not!
I’m a newbie! What are the pros and cons of embroidering onto a blank patch vs making one completely from scratch? I need to have quite a few made.

How do you stecth the stabilizer without it breaking???
The fact that you are putting it in the hoop with stretch it out by itself. Place the backing on the bottom part of the hoop then press the top hoop into it and voila.
Hi this video is so helpful thank you. Do you think I would be able to use this same method to make a name 'patch' ?
Don't see why not!
How durable is this method vs sewing it onto the shirt?
Obviously sewing it on will be more durable but also require a lot more alignment

Hi, may i know what type of stabiliser you're using?
Hi! We used 2 sheets of thick cutaway.
@@ricomatv is there any difference if i use tearaway?
It won’t be as stable
im a bit confused. if your using cut away or tear away wont the it just tear away from shirt and leave the glue behind on the shirt?
Hi Jonathan, in the video we use cutaway which will not "tear away" and the glue is supposed to hold it firmly.
@@ricomatv ohhh okay. So if im using tear away. should i remove it all from the none embroidered areas before applying heat n bond to it?
Thank you :)
You're welcome!

Hi there, thanks so much for watching. For this episode, we used two sheets of cutaway stabilizer.
Where do i get the heating bond ? Thank you
HI there, you should be able to find it at your local craft store!
Is it okay to wash it? Or the patch will damage?
You can wash it!

Why would you go through all these lengthy processes instead of just directly embroider the same to the shirt??
