    In this embroidery machine tutorial episode of Embroidery Hub, Manny gives a tutorial how to embroider the side of a hat. Embroidering hats doesn't have to be a painful process. There's always a high demand for embroidered caps, embroidering the side of caps is a great way to offer more variety to your customers and a great way to up-sell them from traditional cap embroidery. That extra custom embroidery design on the side of a cap gives them a more finished and elegant look. In this episode Manny uses a Ricoma MT-1501 commercial embroidery machine.

    From my understanding, the cap driver can embroider 270 degrees around. What is the maximum width in inches for digitizing? What is the maximum number of the x-axis settings on the machine?
    What if I have an image that I would like to embroider on the front of the cap and another image on the side of the cap by using only one digitized image so that I don't have to keep stopping and changing .dst files?

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  6 лет назад +3

      Hi Ricardo, the maximum width is 12 inches for digitizing and the maximum width of the x-axis on the machine is 320º.
      Yes, you can setup multiple designs on your digitizing software in one file. You can set up a template in your digitizing software with the maximum dimensions of the cap embroidery area, which is 12" wide and the height depends on the type of cap that you want to embroider (typically it ranges from 2.2" to 3").
      Once you set up your template just place your main design in the center for the front of the cap and then place your other design on the left or right side depending on which side you would like to have it embroider on the cap.
      Make sure to run a test to make sure you get the spacing just right.
      I hope this helps, let us know if this helps :)
      Also, we have a facebook group with a community of experienced embroiderers that post their work and help answer each other's questions. If you would like to join you can check it out here: facebook.com/groups/embroiderymastery/

    Hi, how I can embroider on my ricoma TC using cap driver, design larger than 2" ??? I have seen a lot of custom caps embroidered with monograms in size about 3 or 3.5 inches? My machine doesn't allowe me to go more then 2"

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  6 лет назад

      If you go to "Emb Param", then "Frame", and change the Y size on caps to "75" that's roughly 3 inches,
      but we do not recommend maxing out. Try to keep it under 2.75 inches max for best quality.

    hola, tengo una duda con respecto al ancho de bordado de un diseño, ojala me puedas ayudar, te comento, haber si me explico. tengo una letra que tiene un ancho de 15mm le he quitado la opcion de division en las propiedades de la puntada satinada, pero cuando llega a bordar a esa area, la maquina se para continuamente marcando un error, le vuelvo a dar comenzar para que continúe bordando pero se vuelve a parar con error, no se si sea porque el ancho de la letra en sus columnas sea mayor a los 12mm recomendado . Espero haberme explicado bien. gracias

      Hey there. The hooping was done off-camera but we are pretty sure that Manny did use a stabilizer. If he didn't is because the cap was a very tough structured cap and didn't need it.

    Im totally new to this but can this be done by hand and if so will it be as good as this and how long would it take if the design is kinda more detailed?

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  5 лет назад +1

      Hi there! Thanks for watching.
      Hand embroidery is possible on caps, but it will take a lot longer, especially if the design is more detailed. Machine embroidery can be completed in minutes, on the other hand. There is also more of a learning curve associated with hand embroidery, especially since it's an artistic ability, whereas with machine embroidery the machine does the work for you and you get a clean, professional finish. Hand embroidery stitches tend to be larger and less "tight" than machine embroidery stitches so creating detail is harder.

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  5 лет назад +1

      Hope that helps! Let me know if any other questions. Check out my latest videos for more on machine embroidery!

      @@ricomatv thanks for the reply i don't have the money for a machine which i think the good 1s are like 300- 1k let alone the space to store it but i wanna try making my own patches for my hats and jackets as the patches i buy cost 20 n up for large and detailed pics im pretty good at drawing was thinking of like doing a large back patch of snoopy which imo would be a easy as its a pretty simple design to make for a beginner
