this ship is cleary (for me) based on those ww2 transport boats, which basically were four walls and a huge landing ramp

Remember when erveryone used grey baseplates as background in Lego reviews?
Lego is just jacking up it's prices by the month. I can't afford even small sets anymore.
Think of how expensive is the SW:TFA license. Don't just blame on Lego, they're forced to make these overpriced sets.
people say lego sets are being jacked up in price but this is only true for liscensed material, for example take a look at the current ultra agents line, the ninjago line, or the brand new nexo knights line, these sets all remain near the 10 cents per piece mark with the exception of sets containing a lot of minfigures or exclusive pieces. lego is not jacking up the price.
I more meant they are just too expensive.

The most I can afford is a small mini first order tie fighter in this small bags that you find at target. It's just sad. It's both that people don't get payed enough and prices are way too high.

I don't like any of these new Lego Star Wars sets! Way too expensive and overpriced for the price per piece ratio!! :(
+TheFettuck they are too expensive, I've personally gone off on lego star wars I want to go back get some 2008-2013. I got lotr and hobbit when they were around but with these prices I'll probably buy these. Unfortunately not all of us are fortunate as David is with money.

When you see that 2013 clone face on a 2015-2016 mini figure that's when you know Lego stopped trying.
It would have been nice to have a new head, but I don't mind. The helmets are on most if the time, and if you need it off for a moc, you could just swap the head. Still better than a plain black head like Phasma :/
it's not really them stop trying it's mostly because it's unknown who's behind those helmets especially Phasmas face. You can mix the lego faces with those black officers in that battlepack to make it look like there is a variety even mix resistance troops as well

Ayden Allen when the set came out lego was not aware of the many things that the Force Awakens mentions like the fact that clones were not a good idea using regualr people. Look at the first order battlepack it has black and white people in the set.

This one and the first order snowspeeder are my favorites to get for grey pieces. For figures, its this set and the first order troop transport battlepack. I cant wait for the first order star destroyer set to come out! :)

Guys the black head is because captain Phasma is barely in the movie and is never seen with her helmet off, so they literally didn't know what she looked like.
This was before the movie came out... I'm pretty sure everyone knows that now yah goof
well by that logic all storm troopers should have black heads because not a single storm trooper has ever removed his helmet in any star wars film with the exception of finn

apperently the "first order battlepack" was a let down, only 2 first order stormtroopers (and they each look different) why lego why!!!!!

They shoulda done a stormtrooper officer (the guy with the red pauldron from the kylo ren set- his printing is the same as a reg stormtrooper)
They wanted us to make an army builder of each solider one group of that another group of that... etc. Also cool your sht theres another battlepack that comes with 2 first order stormtrooper a snow trooper and a flame trooper comin maybe 2016 at december or so :)

why? sounds cool, and great army builders, but snow troopers and flame troopers aren't in the same place. most battlepcks have a timeset like utapau troopers or clone walker. it doesn't seem right for lego to make that... ill look into it

The black heads are a throwback to i think some of the early clone wars sets
Love the set.
It is a hovering ground vehicle rather than a spacecraft, which is clear from the box and the opening of the force awakens. That's why the wheels are there

the wheels on the bottom are clear for a reason. they are supposed to simulate hovering and make moving it while playing with it easier

God I hope there's a battle pack with the flame troopers, I'm definitely looking forward to getting them with the storm troopers
For me, the problem is that I have too many good guys, so this set is good in the way that it makes the resistance look vulnerable
the wheels make it look like it's hovering, and more playable set.

I was watching this video in my car, then on a billboard I see a trailer for Star Wars 7. Coincidence? I think not!
The wheels are there more easier mobility, and to avoid them being seen, they are transparent and hidden by the bulk of the ship
this set looks really awesome and great minifigs but actually still a little bit pricey for its size...And there are also many things that they didn't cover up like the back and the landing platform. Some empty space too. the set is not bad, but there is better in this wave IMO

my favourite so far. I prefer the older millennium falcon (2012 episode 4 one), the Shuttle is very cool, but doesn't appeal to me (so far), the others are a bit naff, but very detailed, but the only other one that I would like would be the new X-Wing, but I still wouldn't spend my money on any of these because I would buy any of the 2007-2014 sets (especially clone wars)
JJ has made it very clear that there's a reason we haven't seen Phasma's face or learned Finn and Rey's last names.

You talked about possibly modding this set to lengthen the chassis. Is there any way to get or order bricks that match the colors of this set? Or are these standard greys that you can get with other cheaper sets?
those are standard light grays produced very frequently from lego, i modded this set using a personal collection of gray pieces
Pablo Aries That is good to know. I too would like to get this model and maybe a few starter packs, modify the chassis to be longer and fit an appropriate sized landing force on it.

The set is great but it is not worth $90, had it come with a couple more minifigures (Resistance and Transport pilots). But it really is cool, my first Force Awakens Lego set (planing to get the Tie, X-Wing, Rey Speeder and the Snow speeder).
This had soooo many figs. I got it for 70 like right when it came out.

In the Star Wars Force Awakens trailer, in one part you can see spaceships around Kyro Ren's Command Shuttle, which I suspect are the First Order Transporters.

seen that amount of lamps, I foresee a great amount of lens flares when this comes up.
