The bullying and mistreatment didn't start until the end of middle school through high school. I was raised better than that, so I was nice to her. I should have really put my foot down and stood up for her. I think because of the way she was treated, it stunted her and made her unsuccessful in life. She turned to a life of prostitution. @@adararelgnel2695 it could be or it could be smth else. I never asked her directly, but her skin was really white and her hair was red even tho her parents had brown skin and black hair.
black skinned people share the same pain...
@@adararelgnel2695 Albinism is not always absolute, you can be albino and still have some pigmentation. Also, hair can be coloured by carotine too, which would make it reddish if the melanin is gone.
I dont care
Those six siblings were raised with much love, it shows in the way they are united and haw they spoke about each other. Beautiful amazing family bound and inspiring story about they condition as South Asian people with albinism.
What a beautiful, unique family 🥰 my husbands cousin is an albino and she is legally blind but has the most positive, uplifting personality of anyone I’ve ever met. Congratulations on your award!
Thank You all for sharing those stories and for being positive roll models for others with Albinism. I have a Cousin who was born with Albinism and have Personally witnessed People staring at Her,walking away from Her saying "what the hell was that?", and stroking Her hair to see if it's real. None of which are appropriate behaviors.
I agree, but some people arent educated and dont know about albinos.
@@tomfooIeryz that’s still not the correct way to handle something you don’t understand. That’s why we need to educate people on this sort of thing and teach them that that’s not the correct way to act.
Thats very rude.
I love them because they are like my mother ❤ She is full blooded Native American and has faced the challenges of being legally blind, discrimination by tribal members and those outside of the tribe who believe (because of her skin and hair color) that she is pretending to be Native American. She's an amazing potter who is carrying on the tradition of making traditional handmade pottery like her mother, grandmother and Anasazi ancestors. I'm so grateful she has handed down that tradition to me and I'm so happy that this family had each other to turn to. 💗
You should contact someone to make a documentary about your mother. It sounds fascinating!
That is so special, sounds like you love her so much. She sounds like an amazing woman
Im a little concerned with how the younger generation praises the albinism asthetically. constantly referring to it as pretty. Not that thinking their family is perfect the way they are is wrong. but it feels like they are comparing them to themselves with their dark skin and dark eyes and is thinking that having albinism simply makes you prettier because of the lighter features.
That's what I thought too when the girl was talking. Like it's because albinos have fair skin, so she make it seems it's better than dark skin any time.
That thought popped into my head as well.
Unfortunately colorism and superiority of "whiter" skin in Asia is a thing
Aww how sad.
@@zeldawolff358 It's true, because here in Asia those who have darker skin are deemed as from poor families who work under the sun since ancient times. Sadly, that mindset didn't change still.

I really like to hear such old stories. 💕
Wow that is so old
If he was in England he wouldn't be looking so different right?!
In my village, there was also a family that had albinism too. All their sons (3-4 sons) turned out to be albino whereas a daughter born normally. Their parents actually were born normal too but their mother was the one that carried the gene of albino. A decade ago, the mother died to sickness and the father remarried again after that and lives in another village now. I feel sad about their sons actually coz since the mother died, the father neglected his children. One of their son died too (dunno the reason but villagers said due to same sickness that mother had) and another son is suffering with depression perhaps due to their family's conditions. Two sons still living at their old house, but again, i feel sad whenever i see the oldest son, riding his bike around the wet market to buy foods. He looks so weak and older even we are around the same age
Both parents have too carry the gene
@@vmw861 No not true, if someone has albinism and it affects their hair/skin as well then they have oculocutaneous albinism (OCA). That can only be passed down if BOTH parents carry the gene.
@@mmjkk I'm not a scientist or doctor, so i don't know well if both parents should carry the same gene of albino to pass to their kids. But the villagers kept saying that the death mother was the one that carried the gene as the father remarried and got normal kids with his new family. Sadly enough, i think people with albino (from what i looked around 3-4 people already) looks older than their real ages....
You can carry the gene without physically being albino
@@mmjkk my grandma is with albino but not my grandfather so my mother and all my uncles are not but my brother has green eyes and some kind of touch with extra fair skin n different hair color. Life is so difficult for an albino person. May may grandma's soul rest in peace.

Asia alone literally has more than half of the whole world's population in it, so it's impossible to lump everyone in Asia in any category except "human".
Fascinating story. It also shows (once again), how pointless it is to compare people on how much melanin they have….
Ok but like seriously.... They're bloody gorgeous 🥰🥰
A beautiful tale of a family which shines with inner confidence and love.
There are a few people confused with thier identity in the comment section. They are British Pakistani. There ethencity is Pakistani and were born and raised in Britain.
Some people are confused with term 'Asian'. In Britain we also us the term Asian for British South asians.

I wish more and more people spoke about less known skin conditions. As a person living with vitiligo and not many people having an awareness can be very distressing when strangers gawk at you unknowingly.
I am living with vitiligo for the past 30 years. I can empathize with you.
Ah person gawking you might just lack something more impirtant than just patches of colour. There weren't many of that were nice to her or even spoke to her. I really think because she felt so out of place and that most everyone was mean to her, she didn't know how to interact with people. The bullying and mistreatment didn't start until the end of middle school through high school. I was raised better than that, so I was nice to her. I should have really put my foot down and stood up for her. I think because of the way she was treated, it stunted her and made her unsuccessful in life. She turned to a life of prostitution.
