I'm albino, born in Brazil, never had any kind of problem because of my condition. I'm a musician who produce records for a living, and live a fully happy life with my wife, family and friends, and I can't stand to watch this for more than 10 minutes. To us albinos this situation in East Africa is impossible to bare, I'm in tears and heartbroken by these people who didn't have the same luck as I did.
It's amazing how widespread this belief in magic is. I taught a student fresh from Malawi, and one day he told me that he loved being the US because he was able to show that he was smart without worrying. I told him that I was glad that he was happy here, but I was confused - why worry? He told me that in his home town if a student was very smart then they either were accused of having used witchcraft to steal their intelligence from other people (i.e. blamed for someone's mental disabilities) or a witch would try to steal their intelligence using magic. He then said, 100% serious, "It's great - Americans don't know how to do the magic."
@@thegarge7476 Often, but certainly not always. There are plenty of occult paths that are practiced in the US that aren’t tied to new age appropriation.
@@ashleyhearts8561 witchcraft is real and it does work. Its just not as these people make it look like, you cant put a spell on someone who didnt allow the spell to work on him. There are witches who sleep with animals in the US and some who practice psychotheraphy with the help of their demon or drugs. Its not like its a secret or anything, people just dont want to explore the reason behind these issues, most people still believe hypnose is not real. As a Tanzanian, I have to say that is one of the horrors about my nation that I truly hope will stop. This guy really did the documentary well, and represented the country in a fair light. And I like how he didn’t just say that this happens in Tanzania only. That’s the stereotype most documentaries with this subject like to portray. In Congo, malawi, and Uganda it happens too. As well as other African countries too. I like how he made the point to point out that reducing demand will reduce the motivation for people to supply albino parts.
You're right !! Even in Mali, Senegal.. my aunt has albinism, when she was a little girl she had to leave Mali to live happily in France, her life was threatened every single day... This shit has to stop !!
Gaïa I agree 100%. As long as we hold on to illogical superstitions in Africa, we won’t progress as a continent. We of all people should understand the tragedy in the devaluing of lives, that’s the legacy of what was a great part of our modern history. Now to see that we can then find divisions amongst ourselves is simply disappointing. It just should not have started in the first place.
But we learn that those doing the killing in Malawi are coming from Tanzania. Its likely the same trouble makers traveljng from Tanzania to the other African countries within the region. In West Africa, Ghana, no such thing happens. So its on you Tanzania.

@@GamingDad I think he's trying to say that it sounds hypocritical and condescending for people who've been doing evil and injustice for so long to now teach others about right or wrong.
@BePro99 Look, man. Sure, the people who've done wrong are dead, but the damage and scars they have left behind is quite unforgettable, no? As such, who'd want to listen to their subjugators' inheritors? How can it be a place for the inheritors of said oppressors to talk so high and mighty about such issues as if they know everything? Even today, Europeans don't even apologize for what they did, (some don't even acknowledge it btw) despite hoarding their palaces and museums with stolen goods? Who in their right mind would want to listen to such people?

This was one of the most hearthbreaking videos I have seen. To know that these beautiful innocent little children are hunted, mutilated and killed for money because of their skin color is incomprehensible. You can clearly see how traumatized that 15 year old boy Fester is, and what a brave and talented young man he is.
@@damnskippy7220 African people with albinism are black people! Their unusual skin color is only the result of a combination of genes ... both parents must have these genes, otherwise there will be no albino children. The possibility that two normal-looking parents will have an albino child (if both have these genes) is 1: 4. With such a high rate of people with albinism in the Tanzanian population, it can be assumed that a large number of people carry these genes. It is therefore important to accept that these people with albinism are just another (one of many) color variants that black people can have ... and should therefore be treated as normal like everyone else. They are not aliens or anything like that ! They are humans and part of society! .... and they arise from the genetic variations of the respective population. In addition, it is important to uncover the machinations of people without scruples, who enrich themselves at the expense of the suffering or death of other people, on the basis of an old superstition. And yes, in other African countries it also affects children with dark skin tone, who are simply stolen by so-called witch doctors because it is said that it is lucky to put parts of the body of children in the foundation of a newly built house. Because such sick people don't care what skin color someone is, they just want to make money! This is definitely also worth a second documentary .... to expose the machinations of this child trafficking .... and thus denounce these witch doctors and the buyers of these human body parts .... and educate people how wrong that is. For that, you sometimes have to put your finger directly into the wound ... so that we cry out in horror in our hearts ... the same applies if children were actually fed to crocodiles as you say ... Children are most precious to us, in every country, no matter where we live or what skin color we have ... It is not for nothing that all children are related to all people in the world, as the saying goes ... normal people think that way .... But there are some people who are simply sick in their heads in their greed for money .... and that makes them evil in their hearts .... By the way, not only in Africa, you can find such people everywhere . To show how abnormally they act destroys their business!
The little boy who had his hands hopped off was so innocent. Even his smile was precious. Wtf is wrong with these people?!?!? How can you be so evil?!?!!?

@DragonDriver100 I am East African and I can tell you that the belief in witchcraft and sacrifices is real. People will believe that a witch doctor who lives in hut will put you in a mansion and do whatever he says because he has a direct line to the gods!!!

There's actually a huge but largely unknown problem in Africa where people will accuse children of witchcraft, and it leads to them being abandoned and left to starve, or killed. ):
Because of the over-colonization from European powers back in the 1500’s-1800’s, many african countries have been frozen in a time before wider understanding of things like this. Its saddening.
I'm from Liberia West Africa. Here albinos live in unison with everyone. But some ignorant will bully them because of their poor eyesight.

Black babies were ised for alligator bait on the sputh.

Cut the quadriceps, put the toxic on the leg, it is the highest pain man can experience without dying, then feed him to piranhas
He just met him and the boy feels so comfortable with him. What a blessing ❤
That 15 year old boy... wow. Just wow. I have no words. What a beautiful child.
This is so sad, it's not their fault that they were born this way. My heart bleeds for that poor boy! 😢
@@dukcy7450 Stop blaming everything on the Europeans.
Where in Africa there is like 56 countries in there 🤦♂️
@@envinyatar5712 I mean it's true they got Native Americans killed and spreaded lies among other cultures, but that was the past 😌
@@envinyatar5712 Is he wrong tho?
Very brave of you to go there and document this. Well done! I hope it raises awareness and will bring about change.
I'm from Liberia West Africa. Here albinos live in unison with everyone. But some ignorant will bully them because of their poor eyesight. Then also I've always heard that they don't they, they just disappear. Now I understand they might have been killed for ritual. Oh and thanks to this guy and his team for this great documentary.
Eugenia albinos live in most africa unbothered there are always little pockets of the region where they are persecuted. I live in the Uk , ginger kids are being beaten regularly .
@@PHlophe well that's bad. I think people who pick on others are just ignorant and they also have some psychological problems.
I'm redheaded myself but I'm from Ireland. Ireland has the highest density of redheads yet we still get abuse.
Ignorant & hateful people will never change.
Eugenia Nyekan Very likely definitely been murdered because they have no pigment in there skin not the their fault . It is there genes.
Eugenia, it seems so superstitious still there. Have they stopped the belief that having sex with a virgin will stop AIDS? Or got in under control more? Must be so hard to be even a little different there. My prayers are with your country. God bless.
15:10 I almost 100% sure that his speaking problems were a result of that trauma, how can you have the soul to attack a 7yo child
They took some of his teeth too
Poverty can turn people into monsters.
And, yeah, his speech disorder is absolutely a result of trauma. I had both a horizontal and lateral lisp after growing up in a house where my father was abusing my mom and brother, and my brother was abusing me. Some people still struggle to understand me, but I've put a lot of effort into fixing my speech.
@barung1 what a small-minded opinion lol
@John jameson doesn't mean it isn't a small-minded, bigoted assertion with no empathic or historical context behind it.
I sobbed when that little boy was drawing
girl, please , get it together.
Same!
How was his drawing so good

I couldn't look at what they did to his hand. It is heartbreaking to know what ignorance and brainwashing can do. They can literally kill.
I did too!
It’s absolutely shocking and inhumane to the extent of what they did to this child! So heartbreaking to know that these things are occurring in Tanzania. These witch doctors are awful and they should be hunter down! Hats off to the Doctor for the reporting in this documentary of these atrocities. It’s overwhelming to know that there are people in the world with these mentality.
Festo is such a strong young man. His story is incredible and he has overcome so much. When the teacher was describing the attack I started crying I just can't believe someone will do that to a 7yo little baby boy.
he is so cute it makes the children so happy that he is there showing them that they are not alone
The little boy who got his hand ruined doesnt stop him from drawing beautifully, hes gonna make it in life💛 and im so proud
Can you define "make it in life"
@@dillo1594 successfull in life
@@99xrai Im still confused. I guess if your definition of success is success then sure but last I checked that was a subjective thing
@@dillo1594 Dude he just said the kid is going to be successful
Oscar was very brave to go to these places and I am happy that he found the experience a positive one. He comes across as a very thoughtful sensitive person and this looks like a very confronting situation. It is truly heart-breaking and almost unfathomable how these people have suffered, I do hope that it is correct that these horrors are becoming less frequent. I am inspired by this rather than depressed, thank you.
