Thank you for making this and being kind enough to do so. I really hope persons with albinism in our African communities get better treatment in all aspects of life. And we most definitely need more awareness to demystify the condition.

i literally am actually crying bc it hurt my heart to see a child who wasn’t just born deformed bc that’s one thing, but instead mutilated for some greedy killers & ridiculous beliefs, yet he draws so well & found how to adapt. that’s so lovely in its own way but entirely upsetting… i am in no way religious or spiritual but it’s like do whatever you want IF IT DOES NOT HARM ANYONE ELSE. speechless but not surprised there’s such cruelty in the world; no matter where. i wish i could like take every single albino out of that country, even move the entire community that surrounds them so they won’t lose those connections… if only. can the billionaires of this fkn world help do more actual meaningful things thanks !!!
i went into this video not expecting what was to come bc it showed up in suggestions so i clicked outta curiosity & i was fine just observing until the drawing 😭 & just imagining the pain he went through during the mutilation is going to sit w me for a while

but it's mostly because Albino people are still an oppressed (large) minority. All the people in any form of power, that includes advocates--were not Albino. That means that Albinos are not afforded power. The adult albinos he did talk to lived in extreme poverty. Notice that not one teacher was Albino, it's probably rare.

It's amazing how widespread this belief in magic is. I taught a student fresh from Malawi, and one day he told me that he loved being the US because he was able to show that he was smart without worrying. I told him that I was glad that he was happy here, but I was confused - why worry? He told me that in his home town if a student was very smart then they either were accused of having used witchcraft to steal their intelligence from other people (i.e. blamed for someone's mental disabilities) or a witch would try to steal their intelligence using magic. He then said, 100% serious, "It's great - Americans don't know how to do the magic."

There are witches who sleep with animals in the US and some who practice psychotheraphy with the help of their demon or drugs. Its not like its a secret or anything, people just dont want to explore the reason behind these issues, most people still believe hypnose is not real. Sure, the people who've done wrong are dead, but the damage and scars they have left behind is quite unforgettable, no? As such, who'd want to listen to their subjugators' inheritors? How can it be a place for the inheritors of said oppressors to talk so high and mighty about such issues as if they know everything? Even today, Europeans don't even apologize for what they did, (some don't even acknowledge it btw) despite hoarding their palaces and museums with stolen goods? The self control it must have taken to confront a vicious murderer is really admirable. Oscar and his crew did an amazing job by bringing such a horrific issue to light. No one deserves to be discriminated against let alone hunted and mutilated worse than animal. The fear and despair they must be living in is unimaginable. Who ever can, please advocate for these people in a way you can.

    • @andreamuller9009
      @andreamuller9009 3 года назад +17

@@damnskippy7220 African people with albinism are black people!
Their unusual skin color is only the result of a combination of genes ... both parents must have these genes, otherwise there will be no albino children.
The possibility that two normal-looking parents will have an albino child (if both have these genes) is 1: 4.
With such a high rate of people with albinism in the Tanzanian population, it can be assumed that a large number of people carry these genes.
It is therefore important to accept that these people with albinism are just another (one of many) color variants that black people can have ... and should therefore be treated as normal like everyone else.
They are not aliens or anything like that !
They are humans and part of society! .... and they arise from the genetic variations of the respective population.
In addition, it is important to uncover the machinations of people without scruples, who enrich themselves at the expense of the suffering or death of other people, on the basis of an old superstition.
And yes, in other African countries it also affects children with dark skin tone, who are simply stolen by so-called witch doctors because it is said that it is lucky to put parts of the body of children in the foundation of a newly built house.
Because such sick people don't care what skin color someone is, they just want to make money!
This is definitely also worth a second documentary .... to expose the machinations of this child trafficking .... and thus denounce these witch doctors and the buyers of these human body parts .... and educate people how wrong that is.
For that, you sometimes have to put your finger directly into the wound ... so that we cry out in horror in our hearts ... the same applies if children were actually fed to crocodiles as you say ...
Children are most precious to us, in every country, no matter where we live or what skin color we have ...
It is not for nothing that all children are related to all people in the world, as the saying goes ... normal people think that way ....
But there are some people who are simply sick in their heads in their greed for money .... and that makes them evil in their hearts ....
By the way, not only in Africa, you can find such people everywhere .
To show how abnormally they act destroys their business!

Oscar was very brave to go to these places and I am happy that he found the experience a positive one. He comes across as a very thoughtful sensitive person and this looks like a very confronting situation. It is truly heart-breaking and almost unfathomable how these people have suffered, I do hope that it is correct that these horrors are becoming less frequent. I am inspired by this rather than depressed, thank you.

This documentary is well made, touching, informative. It was so heartwrenching to see the kids asking the DR about how he is treated in his country, given his albinism, vs how things are in Tanzania for people with albinism. The prejudice, ignorance, hostility and violence towards people with albinism needs to be eradicated.

If you think that is bad study American history as it relates to blackfolks 1619 until today

@@martinwilcox6011 you're right it relates, but not that much, superstitions are already a common thing in African countries and also in almost every other country. Difference is in some they're properly fought against. Even if American history didn't have as much influence this problem would still exist in East Africa.
