I love how casually the narrator is over some of this stuff
"A variety of unlockable outfits for Ray" *As Ray stands there in a full frog costume*
"A final shooting gallery" *Shows Ray shooting a meteor in space with a pistol*
Jordan3D NNNNYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS
Chris Redfield & Ray = best Bros
Meh... when you've been in the business as long as we have kid do you stop questioning things like that and you just learn to go with it I used to be like you... fisheyed and surprised by the little things, Enjoy it... *eyes glaze over*
It's funny that Reggie was against bringing Xenoblade to NA back during the Wii, but now Nintendo has so much faith in the game, they ported it twice. It's also Nintendo's premiere 1st party rpg franchise.
Perhaps unironically, also a Monolith Soft game lol.
Another reason to hate Nintendo. I've lost most of my faith in this damn company
What about Pokemon?
@@VGMStudios33
.... Over a ten year old incident.
@@VGMStudios33 You know Reggie is gone right?
This game doesn’t seem too bad in all honesty.
It's great, filled with motion control gimmicks but it was still hella fun, I replay it every few years
Hidden gem
Lot's of fun.
Two Best Friends Play did an LP of it a few years ago, it's janky as hell but it's a lot of fun to watch.
The Disaster series is a fun, unique franchise. This is really what I liked least about Reggie, great as he was in most other aspects. I happen to love games that work on going off the beaten path, and Reggie had a reputation for hating them and in cases like this, fighting to keep them out of the US.
I noticed that when Bowser came in, janky but creative games, like Deadly Premonition 2 coming up, are starting to pop up.
WOW Ray went to the same Rock punching Gym that Chris Redfield went, D:
i'd say a better one, this dude can actually break a stone. Chris could only move one big one, one time.
@@ArcRay20 I think that the student Beat the master xD
He-Man started a gym? o.O
For context: in the first episode of the '80s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon, He-Man punches an incoming meteor into a bunch of smaller rocks. It was *awesome.*
@@KizulEmeraldfire naw he studied under chuck Norris
I remember when this came out and my brother was obsessed about it.
He had a big smile on his face when he saw Ray in world of light
Wait for reals?
Cool!
Wholesome
Same here. Played this game back in 2008, really liked it and was so excited to see it being represented in Smash as a spirit at least.
It's always nice when a really niche title you like gets attention of any kind. I thought this game was amazing back in the day lol
Why this title isn't Reggielocked is beyond me. Missed oppurtunity
I hope it's ok that I steal the term "Reggielocked" because that's honestly the best way to describe Nintendo of America's tendency to not want to release games the rest of the world already had, like this or Xenoblade
I was looking for this exact comment. Reggielocked would have been so good.
@@BigRobertsons let's hope that won't happen anymore now that the king of the Koopas is run the show now
Reggie thought Ray was Lucas

Reggielocked - Mother 3
This game is the GOAT. While people were wasting their time on shoddily produced, hackneyed franchises like Uncharted, the upperclass was experiencing the electric dynamo that was DISASTER!
Huh. Didnt expect to see you here Matt
Yo Matt didn't expect to see you here ^^
Shut up, Matt. You cant let it out how good this game was or else the prices will get jacked
Hey Matt, one of the best LP's🖖
Figured I'd see you here, Mr. American Dream
Disaster Day of Crisis: No
Ninjabread Man: Yes
But without Ninjabread Man,we wouldn't have gotten that classic "D-Club" moment on Game Grumps🤣
ninjabread man wasn't published by nintendo though
Ninjabread man was laughable and overpriced.
HD Remaster for Switch please (with a cheeky easter egg going "hey Reggie we're in America now!").
With the added line Bowser gave us our green card
Come on Reggie give us Disaster: Day of Crisis!
How about this instead?
**Leaves Nintendo and becomes a professor**
@Mr. Flash I agree, it plays like your typical average low budget PlayStation 2 action adventure game from back in the day.
Well it doesn't matter now because he doesn't work there anymore!
Packed in with Mother 3 right?
Now we have to ask Bowser
"It's incredibly boring and predictable and... WHAT?... WHAT?"
This game should really have a remake with today's graphics and mechanics.
So that's what Gladio was up to when he disappeared for a bit in FFXV
He also doesn't want MOTHER 3
Yeah, he didn't want a lot of good games, which is why I wasn't sad when he retired
Eric P
He prevented this game from coming over, which is good. It’s kind of average and boring lmao
@@peppinoandweskerfriendsfor3450 he also blocked mother 3, fatal frame 4,fatal frame 5,tales of graces, xenosaga DS, captain rainbow, Soma bringer, and tried to block xenoblade, the last story and Pandora's tower, among many, many others
Who the fuck cares about MOTHER 3 anyway..
Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean everyone in world doesn’t care
Oh, I've got this guy's Spirit. Neat.
I was watching the video and noticing the character looked familiar to me and I was like "Where have I seen him before?" then they show the clip of his spirit in Smash and I'm like "Oh, that's right" XD
@@BlazeHeartPanther HaHa!
@@BlazeHeartPanther
For me it was like, "Oh, discount Gladio. ...I'll take it."
there was one disaster Raymond couldn't survive: Galeem.
I remember reading about this game in Official Nintendo Magazine as a kid. The premise of the world ending and images of the disasters scared the hell out of me lol
4:25, 5:19 holy crap, that run XD
He runs like Waluigi!
*WAH*
Never looked at the game, I thought it was just some weird shovelware where you rescue people during natural disasters.
this game sounds awesome, what the hell Reggie
"lets hire a company to make a game in a genre they have no experience in making, and that genre being one that never sells well here"
*the game obviously doesnt sell well there"
and yet despite that, the game looks like a fantastic wii game that makes more use out of the wii remote than any of the Wii Sports games.
and it was made by a team that didnt know how to make an action game, thats amazing to me.
What the fuck are you talking about they had experience with action games before this they are well know for their action RPG before doing this game just so you know this game ain't a survival horror game
This is cool cause when I saw the Raymond Bryce spirit in Smash I assumed he was from metal gear or something at first. It’s cool knowing what game he comes from
"-Former- Clefairy" LOL
I was so salty when this wasn’t coming to the West, but then I just modded my console and imported the game and loved it!
I'm pretty certain Europe and Australia are still considered the west.
@@VelvetKitsune it's not even considered part of the world as far as America's concerned
@@dylanragon Damn straight, America is all that matters.
@@VelvetKitsune Traditionally, yes. But neither is in the Western Hemisphere. Hell, Australia's name literally means "eastern land."
Man, this was my most expecting game in the Wii days.
I still remember how I worked in a online gaming forum with other fans from South America, sharing every gameplay and trailer we could find. Heck, we shared even the full soundtrack when I managed to found it. So yeah, it was a low blow for all of us T_T
And now since Nintendo announced a Xenoblade Chronicles remaster for Switch, I still hope the same thing for Disaster.
Ray looks like Gladiolus from Final Fantasy XV. Like, eerily similar.
This actually seems like an interesting game. I hope it gets an HD remake with a US release. I wonder if it has a cult following.
It has, at least in Europe (was released here, me and my brothers got a day 1 copy and when I moved out I bought a copy of my own)!
Flash back to the earliest days of Super Best Friends Play the disaster day of crisis episode
One of my favorite's of there LP,s
@@DarkLordOfSweden back when they hammed up the acting? Mat was all dumb a ND Pat was always super mad
@@sadtoast6122 yep, and Wooly was just a legend told to scare us children
Hey, that guy is a spirit in Smash Bros!
One of the most entertaining and interesting games on the Wii for sure.
I enjoyed Disaster Day of Crisis. I picked it up soon after it released. I liked the way it switched from lightgun to driving sections.
The animations of this game looks really good actually :D
You gotta give credit, the developers of Xenoblade and breath of the wild are really through with giving us a fulfilling experience
Wow this is a great video! I can’t believe I haven’t watched this video yet.
I could see this game getting a rerelease on the Switch, and launching in America also.
One wish I still want to come true is Project Hammer getting picked back up and released.
Now I’m interested in this game. Glad I have a WiiU but now I need a Wiimote, Nunchuck and Sensorbar 😅
Region Locked is my favorite DYKG series.
I hope you make an episode on Slime Mori Mori 3! The translators are also very open for interviews
Gladio from FFXV had a starring role it seems.
MAN, I love the Patreon things at the ends of these videos. (Especially figuring out how they'll make the Patreon names sound psuedo-natural in conversation, even though I can only ever remember Ya Boi Beowulf)
Happy Late Anniversary Monolith Soft!!! Glad to see a D:DoC rep on your anniversary art
7:20 looks so fun
The main character looks so similar to Billy from Resident Evil Zero. The hair, the face, the tribal tattoo, the build.... Is this a trope of male characters in Japan-made games, or something? Because the male character in Fatal Frame IV also resembles Billy.
If it was only stopped from one region, I feel it's more Region Blocked
Man, this game had such diverse gameplay, it was crazy.
I played it not too long ago, back in 2017. I played through it at the same time as the florida hurricane and Mexico earthquakes happened. Creepy coincidence...
10:34 an M in Australia is a T in america.
The game was rated M in America though
Australia has the worst fucking videogame laws
It was surprisingly very entertaining to play. So much so I went through it 3 times. An underrated pop-corn game, with nice and diverse controls.
As a huge fan of Monolith Soft and of Wii games, this is one of my most desired Wii titles. Shame it never got a release here in America.
This is what made me mod my Wii. I love this game and it’s a shame it never got released over here. I finally was able to get a copy of the game for my collection recently.
Those sprint animation was hilarious
I remembered playing this game years ago and I struggles driving through a section where there's rock falls in one of the levels.
We need a remaster or remake of this on the Switch!
So this is the game that kicked started Gladiolus' acting career.........
It's no wonder why he got the role in FFXV.....
This was one game i was really excited for in 2006 when it was announced. I have yet to play it to this day. Really want to
Did you ever got a chance to mod your Wii or Wii U yet?
@@MrDmoney156 i did. But at the time i had them hooked up i wasnt real knowledgeable on going past the homebrewing step of them. Now they are packed away safely in storage. I may have my wii somewhere in my house though. Is there a rom for it?
@@Squigglestheduck yeah there is, you can find it at AlvRo's Google Drive site or Wiiuiso forums
If you need the download link i can hook you up with it if you like.
Had a blast speedrunning NG+ quite a few years ago. Too bad the driving segments were a nightmare, but the rest was actually a joy to play.
Best game on Wii, no joke!
Fans should also check out Disaster Report (PS2), Raw Danger (PS2), Disaster Report 3 (PSP-RegionLocked), Disaster Report 4 (PS4).
Oh I remember this
I thought about asking you to cover it
Anyone else think the main character of this looks like US Kazuma Kiryu?
He also didn’t want the fatal frame series obviously, fatal frame 2: Wii edition was fully translated into English, but never came to America, fatal frame V was digital only in the USA, and Reggie never bothered to explain why.
i miss him has much has the next guy, but lets be real he did not build a very good localization team. it boggles my mind how he was so hesitant to localize xenoblade back in 2011 - 2012, I mean that was a critically acclaimed game with at least 4 or 5 perfect review scores that was the kind of game that was going to sell no matter what.but yeah even in retirement, he still refuses to acknowledge the fatal frame community, he acted like we never existed. :(
I really enjoyed this game back in the day. The story, OST and the use of the Wii remote are really good in my opinion. Also, I used to think that the graphics were pretty good for the Wii in 2008.
I noticed that when Bowser came in, janky but creative games, like Deadly Premonition 2 coming up, are starting to pop up.
This was always Reggie's biggest problem and what I liked about him the least. I love games that work on going off the beaten path, Disaster included. Reggie hates them and tried like hell to keep them out of the US.
What an awesome game hope theirs more Region Locked Episode
I finished this game a years ago. It's amazing, alot of motion gimmicks but everything is really fun
*The Nintendo Game Reggie DIdn't Want*
Isn't that called Mother 3?
The first time I heard about it was with the initial line of Wii games. Then I only heard about it again when I saw his spirit on Smash.
I watched the Let's Play for this game on some channel "Two Best Friends Play" or something and it didn't seem to be all that bad. It's INCREDIBLY cheesy, overtop, and melodramatic and I think it would fit in somewhat well next to the campiness that Resident Evil is/was. And no I'm not comparing the two. I have a soft spot for anything and everything cheesy. Also that bonus at the end had me fall out of my chair laughing! That was pure gold!
I wonder if the game would find an audience nowadays with the switch if it ever gets a remaster. it generally has a lot of intriguing concepts and looks like a campy action/disaster flick that you can have some dumb fun with.
This game doesn't look bad in all honesty. Probably not as good as Nintendo wanted it to be but I'd like to see this game get another chance. Maybe an HD remaster on Switch with some things reworked to fit the Switch's control scheme, and maybe a sequel to go along with it considering the plans the team had.
I mean, if Deadly Premonition is getting that treatment then surely Disaster deserves it.
The thing is a game about “surviving a natural disasters while fighting terrorists” sounds like the most American video game ever made
But America was the only one to not get the game
In case anyone is interested in this game, the Super Best Friends Play channel did playthrough a while back! It’s pretty good and is definitely one of their more memorable playthroughs to me.
Being a rescue worker for natural disasters sounds like an incredible game idea. This title doesn't look too bad either, but I can only imagine how a sequel would've expanded on the concept.
It's too bad this never saw release in the US. It sounds like it actually utilized the motion controls in a unique way with different environments, instead of so many games where they felt tacked on, like "we need to justify the wii somehow, let's make this 1 action motion control based."
This game looks absolutely amazing! Why have I never heard of it!? This injustice must be corrected I need to play it.
Mission 4: Ray goes to see The Phantom Menace.
I've got this game, it's f***ing sweet, probably one of my top 5 games on the original wii. With the exception of house of the dead, super paper mario and Metroid.
Mitchell Nield super paper mario is a beast of a game
All about excite truck and okami
This actually looks pretty fun I wouldn’t mind trying it
Fore those that are interested, Super Best Friends Play made a great let's play of this game many years ago
I remember I played this game through during my first term at university. I really enjoyed it and it made its way round my student house.
Had no idea this was a Monolith game. Makes me want to play it now.
I had Totaly forgotten about this game, had a millisecond flash memory of something today, 1 hour later I was able to digg up this title 😂
"Raymond Bryce would appear on the US over 10 years later. But, only as a spirit within the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch"
Ohhhhh... so that's why I'm very curious why I haven't heard this game before until now.
That skit at the end was *fucking gold.* 👏
It's interesting that this B-project had far more extensive motion capture than most triple a titles.
This game seemed really ambitious on the production side of things. That said, it looks like it might be trying to jam too many genres into its gameplay.
What's with the endings on here? Not saying it's bad or anything, just wanting to know where it's going.
Ray looks a lot like Gladiolus
Man, the Super Best Friends playthrough of this game is fantastic. This game is so ridiculous.
Game Informer did this game for their Replay show. It was hilariously dumb. A good "B-game" type of experience.
Now I know where the "Guy on fire puts himself out by eating watermelon" gif comes from.
that game reminds me of the old Earthquake: the Big One/Disaster! attraction at Universal Studios Florida. it looks really interesting tbh.
Might make a good enhanced edition for the Switch.
If it used regular controls it would be even better. Tho it’s already a very good game. If you enjoy disaster report series, you will love this game. If a remake ever comes out, i hope it supports regular controls
Great game, one of my favourites on Wii. Really fun and with an amazing OST.
Reggie-Locked, you might say.
Is anyone looking forward in getting Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories for the Nintendo Switch?
I loved the first one (it was called SOS Final Escape over here), and I am thinking about getting the collectors edition on the NISA website.
One hell of a day...
Why this game hasn’t been remastered for next gen consoles legit baffles me, this is one of my favourite games I’ve ever played and I’ll be damned if I have to buy a wii to replay it 😭
Storm vs Surge, really that was that big a deal? Nintendo of America for you
"Ridiculously oversized hamburgers" I see no issues *pant button snaps off*
I've got Disaster: Day of Crisis, pretty strange parts for 24 hours
why is everybody so harsh and divisive on this game? it's good, ffs. I played it when it came out and thought it was great.
I wonder if people are just reiterating what somebody else (youtuber?) has said, because it seems every positive comment is preceded by "I played it" while that's not the case with the negative ones. I played it too, it's great and to this day I occasionally play it.
@@Dryadal Exactly, every positive mention of this game is made by someone who has actually played it. I liked it a lot, and enjoyed the different gameplay styles, the shooting was good, the main character was cool, it was a remarkable game (not a legendary game like chrono trigger or diablo 2, but a very good game nonetheless)
I loved this game when I played back then, very cinematic
Most people here are americans, they didn't even play it.
Well because the majority likes boring uncharted type of games. When this game is old and rare and than they will pay the high price for ignoring this gem
Why does this actually look really cool
It looks like an ambitious, more interesting, Dead Rising.
