      If your new to painting make sure to practice on the extra bits as much as you can first. Take your time as well and try not to get discouraged if your struggling with highlighting. You can use magnifiers, I tend to use a pair of cheap reading glasses that help. It usually takes me 3 full days to paint one marine so don’t rush. You only have to paint these once 😁 good luck

      The hardest part for me currently is how thin to make the paint and getting the consistency right

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  Год назад

      You can never go too thin. Remember your not trying to cover in one go. I always go about 50/50 with water. Make sure to dab your brush on some paper towel as well with yellow. The pigment in yellow is very clumpy and doesn’t spread very well. You’ll probably do about 3 layers for best results

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  Год назад +1

      I’ve been working on the best way to paint imperial fists since I started this hobby 😋 this tutorial kind of shows whats possible. I found with painting marines, especially fists is to take your time with them and do them slowly. For example you could just work on getting all the base colours painted first for the strike force. Then slowly work on them doing shading and highlights as you get more confident with it. I’m still working on getting my own done the way I’ve painted them in this video. It’s only been a couple of years so far 😂

    Daft question - what's the 'best' way to get the fit of the arms/gun sub assembly right? When doing it they always seem a bit off when I come to fit them post-painting.

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  Год назад +1

      That isn’t a daft question. I struggled with this as well. I could never get the fit right. I now have both arms attached to the weapon so I don’t have to worry about lining them up properly later. It’s better if you leave the shoulder pads off aswell so they don’t get in the way. It also makes it easier to paint them. Pause the video when you see all the sub assemblies I made, I find this is typically the best way to separate a marine. Hope that helps 😁

    • @JamesThompson-1
      @JamesThompson-1 Год назад

      @@TableTopReadyRUclips that's the thing - even when attaching both arms to the weapon it seems a bit off, maybe because the plastic glue softens it up so the fit isn't right. Maybe that's a bit i should superglue for more accuracy .

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  Год назад +1

      Some plastic glues do take some time to set, super glue could be a solution. You could also use some blu tac and temporarily stick them in place on the body while the arm is glued to the glue. That’s what I use to do with the old marines before you had the little pegs. Make sure to check you have the right arms as well because I use to get that wrong as well haha

    • @JamesThompson-1
      @JamesThompson-1 Год назад

      @@TableTopReadyRUclips Good idea. I might look to blue tack the weapon to the front of the torso so I don't get a false measurement for the shoulder width by accidentally gap filling with blu tac.

    could you make a tutorial how to layer yiriel yellow over averland sunset?
    since this is what is often used on official box art,
    or would you say it is a similar result when you use white scar/ wraithbone and then yiriel yellow?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  2 месяца назад

      the way I've painted the marine in this video will work on an averland sunset undercoat. White scar is the best undercoat to use though. I think your over thinking it and expecting too much. Even the marine I've panted here isn't perfect. no matter how you do it there will always be imperfections with anything you paint. you need to lower those expectations of yourself. get some fully painted imperial fists under your belt

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube

      I talk about my whole process in the video. If your still finding it streaky then you havn't painted enough layers. the paint is more transparent when thinned so what your seeing is the ayers underneath still coming through
