    Thanks for posting this install. I have a 2023 Sierra SLT with the LZ0 and am thinking about this mod. especially considering the fuel these days! I do have an IDASH which I mostly use to keep up with the REGENS and other parameters. When you change out the fuel filters for this new rig it would be nice to cut them open and see what’s inside.😮

    I bought a 2021 with the 3.0. It was eating 2 qts of oil every 1000 miles. After a year of oil consumption checks every 1000 miles they decided to change out a valve cover with a bad baffle inside. The oil eating went away and it was back to being a "good truck". But that's when the next batch of problems started. Spraying coolant out of the inter cooler, leaking oil, a particulate filter that's so clogged that it backs up exhaust smoke into the cab while driving. They have had my truck in and out of the shop coming up on 8 months now. GMC is not willing to buy my truck back.

    Nice install, but you lose the protective shroud. I know you don’t keep vehicles for long and warranty isn’t an issue for you, but how might this affect a typical owner and warranty issues that might arise? But I really like the idea of double and higher quality filtration, especially here in illinois where I hear our diesel is the crappiest.

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  Год назад +2

      I cannot comment on warranty as it’s not my call. I do know the aftermarket part would have to be the cause of the issue that you are trying to get warrantied. I will say this can be swapped out within 30 minutes if you aren’t videoing it. 😂

    Nice video. I have an LM2 but see they have a kit for it also... Just wondering ...towards the end of your video after you check for leaks you show a view of the kit looking straight in on the kit. Not so worried about the filters maybe being a little lower than the bottom of the frame rail but it looks like the top of the conductivity probe housing and the fuel outlet block are a good bit closer to the bottom of the cab. May not be but looks that way. Hopefully there is enough clearance to allow for any cab movement.

    Your video should make the transfer from the factory setup to VSE's much simpler. Thank you. I have one on order. I have never felt the factory setup was sufficient. I have a question about your secondary filter. The literature shows a Donaldson P551315 or a Cat 1R-0751. The filter I see installed on your unit is a Donaldson P550638. Please clarify.

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  Год назад

      thanks for the comment, I reviewed what you said, and I do see a discrepancy there and I will bring it up to VSE. The filters shown on mine should be the ones needed, the number in the literature appears to be a longer filter which may be ok for the L5P, but not ours due to length being an issue.

    Does the double filtration, specifically the lower micron filters, add pressure loss into the fuel system? My worry is that the pump isn’t made to handle that type of pressure drop in the system.

      It also didn’t start leaking right away. Put it on and then less than 24 hours left for a 900 mile road trip. The install was about 9 hours before I left and I drove my truck around to triple check for leaks and there were no leaks. Pull up to my condo and you could see diesel slowly dripping by the driver front door.

      Yes, but then you will have fuel sitting in the housing. It could spill afterwards or if you set it aside to return to stock, would be full of sludge. so that's why I drained first.

      VGT Actuator cycles the turbo vanes fully opened and closed to make sure they don't get stuck. DEF pump pushes all the fluid back to the tank so it doesn't crystallize in the lines/injector. Like Greg said, it's all good stuff happening to prevent problems down the road.

      I am going to assume it is coming from the top element - I would remove the housing, remove the water in fuel sensor and verify the o-ring is undamaged. If it's ok, lubricate and gently work it down tightening a little bit from each bolt and walking it around. Hope that made sense, basically trying to evenly bring the water in fuel sensor down. it's a tight fit. Also want to confirm you used the provided bolts there and not the factory bolts? Other than that, nothing should be leaking on the top of the housing. let me know what you think / see.
