    I remember us having a back and forth about the LED a while back.
    My thing for getting one was to be seen by other motorists, even during the day, inattentional blindness is rife, especially with the advent of mobile phones and GPS being in almost every vehicle these days.

    I recently put a Cyclops BA20D LED Bulb in my 525 and found pretty much all the same effects you have here (I did a quick video on it but it sucks compared with your video here) one thing I've noticed is cars being better at seeing me during the day although it may just be coincidence, hard to say really although it is much brighter to look at.
    Totally agree about needing the light on your head in the bush, I'd like to try hooking one up to the bike via those magnetic plugs that snowmobiles and whatnot have for running heated gloves/jackets. I reckon it would be a lightweight way of running a powerful light on your head that wouldn't be able to get a flat battery, could even hook it in with the high/low beam switch so you could use it to scan for roo's on the backroads. If a branch or something unplugged it the bikes headlight would still be there so wouldn't be a big deal I don't reckon.

      When i use to ride night enduros we would use lamps designed for bicycle handlebars and mount them on our helmets. Seemed to work alright, as long as ya mount them below eye line or felt like I was robbed of contrast trying to look through the like rather than into it. Night riding blows anyway haha

      @@SKIDSnSTUFF yea nice one! I do a ton of night riding and currently use an LED torch on a gopro mount which is pretty good but would be nice to have a decent light bar up there, as soon as it gets tech the headlight on the bike doesn't point anywhere near where it's needed.

      @@SKIDSnSTUFF was just about to comment exact same thing. i am currently using my pushbike headlamp strapped to my helmet. ive got a pair (well one is for my missus) so was thinking about mounting two on the helmet for a slightly wider light spread. massive fan of night riding. it takes those boring old tracks you ride all the time and make them feel fresh and new. although, i live in SA so have no choice but a very limited range of riding options. every other state seems to have tracks for miles in comparison, haha.

      @@Rocky_Hill_Iron_Works if your going to put a light 'bar' on your helmet (which are generally a flood light) i think a single beam (spot) light too might be a good idea. a good mix of the two would be the ultimate night riding setup i reckon. im currently using a pushbike light and would like a bit of flood light to mix in with the spot

    Try find one with a colour temperature of 5000K. It is more warmer white before you move to yellow. Your perception of things especially kangaroos etc.
    Your eyes will thank you for it also.
    The rage that other motorists may have with your super bright glare from the light is the only other issue to be had but they don’t see motorcycles on a good day so it’s irrelevant haha.

      @@SKIDSnSTUFF a brand that makes a 5000k spot light for 4wds and cars is Lazer Lamps. The colour is very nice on the eyes. I use them on my 4wd in outback QLD. Helps to see the herbivores that run or hop onto the road haha. Just something to consider. The science is ……Color Rendering Index (CRI) is a measurement of how natural colors render under an artificial white light source when compared with sunlight. The index is measured from 0-100, with a perfect 100 indicating that colors of objects under the light source appear the same as they would under natural sunlight.

    Call me weird but... I like the stock light better lol. You can see a little bit further and slightly wider with the h4, but the lighting is more true with the stock bulb, meaning things are not getting white out where the detail on objects turn into just a blob of white light. The bad thing about that is the shadows from objects your light touches now become much darker to your eyes, so if you have to corner after your light was just touching that tree, it's not a blind spot you're turning into where as the stock light you would still be able to see past it. Might have negative effects running off road due to having less field of vision around objects that the light touches. I think it overall effects your view negatively because it's one bright color you see which your eyes cannot penetrate past the light kind of like someone shining a light in your face when it's dark, you cannot see what is in front of the light. The H4 is probably better for long stretches of off road trails on a wider path because you can focus better on the strait path you are on vs. twisty bending skinny trails. Or if you were doing desert runs or something like that the H4 would be better.

    • @SKIDSnSTUFF
      @SKIDSnSTUFF  Год назад +3

      I mainly like the H4 better because the stock feels like riding blind in comparison. IRL use i never ride single track at night, I hate riding single track at night, but you def need helmet lights if that was your thing.
