    That bulb review with amp draw is very useful. The standard bulb on my DR is not good (I do not ride at night) but I like brightness for daytime running. Anything that draws less electric power on the DR is worthwhile as getting as much power from battery to the starter motor is important. In fact I have done some desert runs on the DR and mornings are often very cold. I have a manual switch to turn off the headlight for starting on the very cold desert mornings (turn on after the bike starts). (BMW bikes do this automatically). Thanks Dino and Karl.

      Great feedback Mal, thank you. I had a bike once that I could turn off the lights, I cant remember what it was though. I think it may have been my grey market TZR250. I agree with you 100% though, less amp draw equals a happier bike overall.
      As always, thanks for the feedback.

    This helped me tremendously. I had put off replacing my bulb because I thought I would screw something up. Thank you very much!

    I remember this video! Was the one that introduced me to this bulb. A huge improvement is not an overstatement. I drive 800 miles a month at night just going to work in the summer and love the visibility. A must imo even if you don’t ride at night just for safety reasons. Improves the looks also. Great video Dino!

    I would like to correct you on how much additional wattage you get. I mean really you are only gaining that wattage for stuff like heated grips/clothing when you are running the low beam. The difference is only 0.7 amps (8.75W at 12.5V). So it is something, but not a crazy amount. You are right that if you have aux lights coming on when you switch high beams on, then yes, you now have 1.7 additional amps to use for aux LED lights ~21W. (or if the majority of your night riding is not urban or busy highways and you would have high beams on most of the time)
    I have already ordered my Ultra just because I need the additional lighting for my older motorcycle. And the 9 watts of less draw certainly won't hurt as I don't have a very powerful stator and do have heated grips on the bike and would like to run a heated jacket this fall.
    I just wanted people to consider that this may not be the full answer to getting more usable electrical draw.

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 года назад

      Thank you for the feed back, I would point out that the ultra bulb I have runs the same wattage on both low and high, 38 watts. Although the ultra runs both pairs of leds when on high it runs them at a reduced wattage to keep the usage to the specified 38 watts therefore whether on high or low beams the reduction is the same.
      Thank you again for the inpit, I belive the takeaway is that you get an increase in light output with a reduction I'm amp draw, even if it is not a lot it is still an improvement.

    Hey Dino, you sold me on the cyclops bulb. I just installed it. My only "hmm..." is that on low beam it looks crooked. I looked back at your video and yours appears that way too (7:25 in the video). Yes, i stood the bike up level when i tested it. Is there a reason why or a way to fix that?

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  Год назад

      I'll have to look at mine today and see if that is the case and get back to you. I've never noticed this but I rarely ride at night.

      I took a look at mine and it might be a bit off, I never noticed it before you mentioned it. I'm not sure why it would be like that as the light is "keyed" in place. The diodes must project a bit off in the lens. I'm not sure how to address this. For me it's not a big issue as I said I never noticed it before you mentioned it. I might reach out to cyclops and see if this is a common problem and if there is a solution. Thanks for the comment.

    In this video, you mention some small square LED lights that only draw about 6 W. Can you link the video to those lights? I’ve searched all your videos and have been unable to find it. A link to the actual light on Amazon. Thanks for all the great videos.

      Thank you for the question, Karl actually bought these at Princess Auto, which if you are not from Canada the closest store would be Harbor Freight in the USA. He and I often go there just to poke around and these were a sale item they brought in and were only $14.00 Canadian for the set. I checked their website and they do not list these as a stock item but they are reasonably well made and have stood up to 2 years of riding without issue.
      I'm sorry I can not provide a link.

      @@DinosTinkerShed no problem at all about the link. I really appreciate the quick reply. I was interested in them due to the low wattage draw. I think that would be great for a motorcycle like the DR 650.

    I looked this up, however it asks if you want the additional rectifier for extra $. Is that the black box in the middle or something else. What did you acually get when you purchased your kit? I hope Im clear here.

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 года назад

      Thank you for the question. I ordered the ultra H4 and it came with the black box which I would think is a rectifier. I ordered mine from Pro cycle specifically for the dr650 so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not, where you order it from I mean.
      I hope this helps
