Dino's Tinker Shed
Канада
Добавлен 7 май 2021
There is a saying that goes something like, "the only thing worse than not knowing something is knowing a little bit". This can lead to disaster or in a lot of cases, it can start you on a path of learning and experience. I've spent my life learning from others and taking an interest in just about anything you can do with your hands.
On this channel we will spend time "tinkering" in and around the tool shed on things that interest me, my friends and family. Along the way Ill do my best to pass on any knowledge I have on the subjects of the day and hopefully become a resource for you the people in your life.
I look forward to spending some time together in; the tinker shed.

How a motorcycle electrical system works, part 4 IGNITION SYSTEM
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.3 месяца назад
In this episode, we continue our journey into the DR650 electrical system with a look at the ignition system. This is in my opinion the most complex and potentially expensive part of the systems on the DR so I have taken a bit more time to develop it. I also want to share a great channel I often watch that provides a great solution to a potential problem any DR owner may face. TIME CODE CHAPTER...

Pro cycle jet kit sucks cuts out 4th and 5th gear bad no matter what I do
Hey Dino, my DR 650 takes alot of cranking with choke on to get started, after started when i turn choke off or if i give it gas with throttle it shuts off, any tips? Thanks!
Will you make me one
I was wondering have you ever heard of a dr650 overheating
Hello, Thanks for your video. Have you ever had, at constant speed (90km/hr), like a slight lack of gas or a slight variation in speed? My chain tension is good. I doubt my carburetor. Thank you, Alain
Good trick about tying hitches!
Love it. I don't have a 3d printer. Would you sell them instead?
Hi Deno unfortunately my DR got totaled in an accident. I picked up a new 23 v-storm 800 DE adventure. What a bike that is. I am planning on doing a DR build video set . I think I want to start with a new DR that would be interesting. After watching your videos and putting about 6500 miles on mine I think I know what would be the best upgrades. I still love watching your videos keep up the good work. And fyi the HWK gear protected me in a bad crash. No road rash just a broken leg and C7 I am up and going 😊if you would like to see in Arizona central for now let me know.
Didn't see your sled in the shed! Hope you didn't give up snowmobiling dino! Keep up the great videos!
Lol nope it's in the trailer this season. Good catch. Dino
What does JIS stand for?
Thanks for the question, JIS is Japanese Industrial Standard
@@DinosTinkerShed Thanks!
That seat looks very good. Great review Dino. I find a sheep cover works for me. Your work on the pergola looks very professional.
Thanks for the feedback Mal, I'm liking the idea of the sheepskin for sure. I'm glad you like the pergola, it's a lot of work for sure 😁
@@DinosTinkerShed I went for a wider seat(seat concepts) + a sheepskin on my DR. It’s great as a combination.
Great review Dino. Very thorough review. Patio makeover looks the bomb also. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment, and the complement on the deck 😁
Looks nice. Hope procycle gets them.
In the US, the ManTT products are sold under the name xitomer. I have a few of the Mantt products on my KLR and have been impressed by the quality. They are the 'top tier' of the Chinese bike parts.
That's great information, thanks for sharing Dino
Great job on the deck! It looks great. Thanks for the review of the seat. This could be marketed in the US as Xitomer?
Thanks for the comment, it could before sure. I would think it's a mass produced and rebranded product. Dino
The pergola looks fantastic, is there anything you can’t do? Good review on the seat, I hope you get out to ride a lot this summer.
Deck looks great, Dino! Even too hot to be out in the new shade! I used sheep skin in the Bronco. HUGE game changer! 👍🏻 We should go visit my friend Jason at Flyte Upholstery!
Thanks Eric, let's do that, let me know your schedule and we can make a trip Dino
Great job on the house deck. Glad to see your shed gets messy sometimes too! Haha.
Oh ya, it's always a fight to keep it clean. Dino
Another useful review on an important topic for the DR community Dino. 👍 In a perfect world it would be nice to gather a group of bikes with all of the popular seat options together and compare. When I bought my seat I was torn between the Seat Concepts regular and the Sargent. Ended up going with the Seat Concepts based on nothing but looking at pics and price. That said, I’m very pleased with Seat Concepts seat.
Hey, thanks for the comment and great feedback. Dino
Dino! Are you on any forums or FB? Trying to get ahold of you and touch base on some DR topics to shoot back and forth. Thanks man
I am on drrider but mostly a lurker lol.
You been working out Dino? Looking lean and mean these days...
Lol, my new job is quite physical and helps with the weight loss.
Awesome review Dino! Yes we really like the sheepskin🐑, it works well but I find it slides around when going offroad. Haha, but I don't want to change my Retro DR650 seatcover. So sometimes I just have to accept the sore buttocks. Cheers from the Netherlands 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️🐿️
Nice Deck
....pardon...lol
mowing your lawn as an intro is so awesome
Good information here
Thank you Dino
This is useful Thanx
Well done Dino. I just bought one of these things. Stuck it on the rotor of my Harley-Davidson. About a week after I bought it I was having a beer at the local pub and I heard it go off. I raced outside, and whoever had triggered it was gone. So I think these things are well worth the money. Might have saved me $20,000 plus.
I ride them because I love sticking it up my friends who spend $20k+ on an adventure bike's when I can do all that on a DR650 that cost a fraction of the price and is Bomb proof reliable not to mention as it's a lot lighter I can go more places they can and also cruise on the highway comfortably all day every day.
Thank you, Dino.
Your welcome
VESSEL do produce their own manual Impact Driver. So for this VESSEL Megadora Impacta, seems the intention is more for stripped screw head ( either JIS head or maybe work for Philps head too ). The "Impacta" is only as marketing name, which means it have steel at its handle, which can be hammered, to making a sharp pattern on the stripped screw head. After the sharp pattern created, then slightly rotate the screwdriver manually. As it does not as heavy as the Impact Driver, and without spring feature, it definitely will not turned by itself. So : Impacta only a marketing / branding name. But the purpose is more to create sharp pattern on the stripped screw, for those who does not have Impact Driver . ( I do own this VESSEL Megadora Impacta, with the VESSEL Impact Driver too, both seems different purpose, Impact Driver is for hard stuck screws, definitely better )
Put a set of shinko 700 on that bike and you want use any other tire. All I ever use on my klr 650
Hey Dino!! Sorry we're so late to the party, we we're very busy renovating our own Tinkershed!😅 But man what an intro, youve really got those squirrels on your hand😃, and we recognised a really beautiful red DR in the photo montage!😁 Luuk is pretty jealous of your big acetone bottle because we can only buy really small ones due to regulations in the Netherlands. (Luuk uses it to clean before welding) Really nice Broll edit with the music on the final reveal! Very curious how you like the seat, have you ridden it the last few weeks? Cheers from the Netherlands!🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️

any aiming tips with the new bulb?
Well, I put on a DG pipe and it’s way too loud for me. Glad I watched your video I was going to drop the main jet from a 150 to a 145 to put stock pipe on. But, now I will try to dial it in with the 150 and stock pipe.
Your videos are the best. I bought a Uni filter I am going to try, and I am also going to try the lawnmower foam idea on the stock unit.
I checked the link out. The seat does not seem to be made for a tall person. Am i right to say this? I’m 6’4’’. Thanks for the great video Dino!
I got the same bike
Fantastic series, thanks again for doing such an in depth explanation of the process.
Wow, this was an excellent video! Thank you for the thorough explanation of all the steps, they’re really helpful.
thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with the community Dino
the DR community loves you - setup a patreon man
I am happy to do some early prototyping with your existing design as it stands now, and pay for the privilege. I have a printer so im also happy to print stuff for you if needed
I would be happy to help too. If you would be willing to share the .stl files I could help you develop this project.
Looking good, Dino! And your production value keeps improving!
Thank you so much Dino
The DR seat is a bit like a builder's plank to sit on after a bit of riding! I think you did a good job of fitting the cover and seat. Working at pulling and stretching seating material is hard work (a third hand would have helped I suspect). The cost is very reasonable and the extra seat width will make longer rides more enjoyable. Good clear video as usual Dino. Thankyou. (I made a simple lambs wool cover for the seat on my DR - it helps a lot but the extra seat width you now have should make for more comfortable riding.)
Thanks Mal, I've thought about a sheep skin as well. Thanks for the feed back.
Dino is like the Bob Ross of DR650 content. I love it! Some things that might work on glue residue is wd40, goo gone, orange clean, heat or isopropyl alcohol. Should be safe on plastic as well.
Man, you have lost some weight, that is great. My Dr 650 I bought the Seat Concepts and really like it. I really like your videos and you do an excellent job explaining everything you are doing which make it very easy to follow.
Hey thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoy the content ! Dino
I put 300 miles on my DR in one day and quickly decided to order a Seat Concepts seat. Best upgrade of all time!
I've heard nothing but great things about seat concepts. Dino
Nice looking seat Dino. Do you think if you let the cover sit in the sun for a bit, that would have helped? P.S. When I've recovered motorcycle seats in the past, I get my wife to operate the staple-gun while I pull the material. Having two hands stretch the material into place while someone else staples, makes it easier.
