Great job Dino! I really like the way you simplified the schematics in your presentation. By the way i still have one of those enduro two stroke bikes that has no battery. At night it has to be ridden one or two gears lower so there is enough engine RPM to have good lighing. As always i enjoyed your video!

Lol the old iron is fun and quirky, old snowmobiles were the same and I used to like riding at night and seeing the lights dim at idle. Thanks for the comment

Another excellent video! I also like how you broke out the individual circuits from the entire wiring diagram.

Dino this video on the lighting circuit is really useful and very clear on what is required to work on the DR650 lights. I really like how you have graphically altered the wiring diagram so we can concentrate on the circuit you are describing. A really clear explanation that aids understanding is the result. I think this is a "must keep" video for DR owners. I am sure it would have taken quite some time to produce. Thankyou. I have learned some additional useful information. (Loved the video of the eclipse - when I heard on Australian news that Niagera was the best location for viewing I thought "I wonder if Dino is out having a look")

Thanks Mal, I'll be honest I'm glad this series is over, I learned lots but boy it was hard to get done. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hey Dino! What nice footage of the eclipse really cool to see😄.
And hats off for the amazing and elborate videos on the electrical system. You do such a great job of explaining all the concepts so well and in such basic terms. Even we have the feeling we get it now😁! And the shots on the wiring diagrams were so well done.
The part on the turn signal wiring/ground voodoo was really interesting! Could this be why the DR doesn't have hazard lights? 🤯
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your knowledge.
    Cheers from the Netherlands!🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️

So glad you found it useful. I'll be honest I'll be glad to make a few less involved videos for a while lol. Thanks as always, you two be safe.

My 1985 Yamaha XT200 has an AC headlight and a 6 volt DC system for all other lights. The stator easily outputs enough power to support a 12 volt system and there are some relatively inexpensive kits to convert it - basically an new 12v regulator rectifier and then change all the lights bulbs to 12v. I haven't changed it over yet, believe it or not 6 volt motorcycle batteries are still readily available.

Hi Dino! I live in Buffalo NY and just got my first DR. As of today I have all of 50 miles on it. I'd love to meet up with you and Carl sometime for a ride and to talk all things DR. BTW pretty much most of our view of the eclipse was cloud cover. Oh well, next time 8)
