  • Apex has finally launched the flat face trigger upgrade for the Hellcat Pro. Is this a dramatic and must have upgrade over the factory trigger? What about the extended take down lever and mag release, do you need to rush and order those for your Hellcat or Hellcat Pro. Here are my thoughts on all three products....

    Liked my first HCPro so much that I bought a second one just recently with the Gear Up package. That said I have zero interest in any of these Apex parts. Lower profile stock mag release is perfect for a CCW...The take down lever loosens with use and does not need replacement either...Lastly, the trigger...Stock trigger is very Glock like and is ideal right out of the box for a CCW, and it too smooths out with use...Plus I never modify triggers on my CCW. Some guys just enjoy modding their guns, which is fine, but none of these mods are warranted in my opinion. The gun is so good in stock form that it caused me to sell both my G43X and my G19.

      I agree. I don't modify the triggers on my carry guns and the mag release is about perfect for me. I will however probably add this Holosun optic. I can’t spend the money upgrading a factory trigger if it doesn’t fix all of my issues with the original trigger. One way to improve the sponge feel of the stock trigger is to shoot or dry fire around 500-600. It helps to really smooth that stock trigger out, making it perform like the Apex regarding that glass feeling you described. After breaking in the factory trigger, that wall is still the wall, but the pull weight will be reduced.
    This pistol requires some training to be able to easily double tap accurately compared to (for example) the stock and brand new CZ P10C.
    But the benefits of the Hellcat Pro are enough to make the time and break-in investment worth it. I use the Crimson Trace RAD Micro Pro 5 MOA green dot sight. It mounts directly to the Hellcat with included screws.

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад

      I dont know, I put nearly 1000 rounds through the Hellcat Pro before the trigger upgrade and countless dry fire practice. I will agree that it will loosen up through use but its not the same as the trigger upgrade. The trigger comes with a new springs for the trigger as well as the striker. There is also the trigger shoe its self that makes a noticeable difference due to its overall shape. The trigger upgrade isnt for everyone but I think comparing what the Apex does to just a standard break in is short sighted and way off base. What I will say is that most people should get through the break in period before considering the upgrade because who knows…maybe breaking it in is enough for their personal taste

    • @DirtyCiv
      @DirtyCiv Год назад

      @360 Tactical Solutions this is unfortunate, because i only have about 300 rounds through my hellcat pro, but a TON of dry firing. i recently noticed that the takeup felt noticeably smoother than when i first got it, and the break feels much cleaner and lighter after hitting a solid wall.
      it feels like a completely different trigger tbh, and im sorry it didn't quite break in for you.

    I have the original Hellcat and when I first handled it next to the Sig P365 (when picking out a new CCW) I picked the Hellcat because it fit my hand better. The Sig was just too small in my hand. So that being said I took the new Hellcat to the range and honestly I didn’t really like how it shot right away. But I kept shooting it and I noticed that I was the problem. These small guns are a whole different thing than a larger gun. You have to kinda “direct it”. As soon as I figured out how to handle it I then realized that I didn’t like the trigger. It was stiffer than I was used to, but after a 1000 rounds and no failures the trigger has smoothed out and I know how the gun handles. I think a lot of people don’t know how to shoot these small guns, they want them to perform like a 4 or 5 inch full sized weapon and they won’t ever be that, but with practice you can learn to shoot and handle it just fine. I now drop 5-7 rounds within a dime sized groups on target when practicing up lose defense off hand shooting (without using sights). The gun is great. I do want the pro though…

      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад

      Lol Im going through comments and responding and your other comment was at the top of the list, I hadn’t read this one yet. I think your comment is spot on. You have to understand the gun and how it shoots. You cant expect to fire a 3.5” plastic gun and have it handle like a 5” steel frame 1911. For me the biggest thing is comfort in hand. Its gotta fit your hands and when you pull up on target you should have the sights right about where they go….naturally. Very important. Ill tell you though the Hellcat Pro is definitely my number one right now

      @@bpri9880 id go Hellcat Pro with the Phlster Enigma Express holster system. I used to live in Phoenix for several years so I get the unique issues that you are going through for finding just the right set up for conceal carry. I really believe that the Hellcat Pro is the perfect balance between those two sizes of guns you are currently using right now. The only thing I would change about the gun is id make it a 4” barrel. Making a longer slide isnt going to change how it conceals and the weight gain is negligible. The advantage to a 4” Hellcat Pro would be a better handling pistol. Don’t get me wrong…its good now but a little more barrel length would just be better. Alternately im thinking of adding the threaded barrel and testing a comp on it. Either way i love the gun

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  9 месяцев назад

      Excellent question. I kind of covered this in my review of the Type3 trigger but im happy to chat about it. MCarbo is ok, id put it at #3 on my choice list. Apex has been in the business 20+ years and I trust their reputation for safety and reliability. I had issues with he set screw on the MCarbo trigger and to be honest the Apex spring seemed a better overall trigger pull. So top two are both Apex and the only difference with the classic and Type3 is a visual one. Type3 is a bit more streamline, less chunky. It also has smoother more rolled corners so for my finger it's more comfortable. So my personal choice is the Type3 if you are upgrading from a stock trigger. If you have the classic Apex then it's not a big enough change to spend the money to get the Type3. Also Hellcat and Hellcat Pro use the same components, trigger mag release slide release and takedown lever...all of which Apex has upgrades for and you can get a discount while supporting my channel by using 360TS at checkout at Apex

      Upgrading an EDC isn't for everyone. Really if you haven't taken the time to look into the company that makes the components you shouldn't upgrade the weapon at all. That goes for all upgrades, not just triggers. I can tell you though that no one in the industry puts a firearm through as much abuse as Apex does before they certify their triggers to be ready for market. Apex has a reputation for the highest quality and most reliability of any parts you can buy for a firearm for a reason. At the end of the day though its your gun, use the gun you like in a way that you feel comfortable with. Let me just ask though...do you carry with a round in the chamber? Better parts, better shooting experience, in some cases more reliability or accuracy. To be honest I don’t even know why you would post this comment. Have you never had a car and replaced the stock stereo or put tint on the windows? The obvious answer to your comment is someone likes the product (doesn’t have to be a firearm)…and they want to make it better in some way, shape or form.
      What you are really saying with your comment is you don’t believe in upgrading guns. You don’t believe in changing anything. The manufacturer knows best and they made the best possible version so people shouldn’t mess with it because then it’s not safe, it’s not going to be reliable, if you use it then you are going to be held legally liable for using a modified gun. Every one of those points is bs. You may not like it for yourself but that’s because you can’t fathom the advantages given by customizing your firearm. The rest of us understand that manufacturers are constrained by things like R&D, time, cost, materials and what an acceptable end retail price is…so we take a base gun and finish it the way it would have been done if these companies could go wild with it

Its my understanding that what the USCCA is saying is more that its recommended not to. Same as putting punisher skulls on your grips. If you do have to use your gun the case will be made that you intended to take a life, you were looking for a problem, you altered your firearm to be more deadly. Ive spoke with a lot of people about this. If you use your firearm in a defense situation you are going to have a headache no matter what.

    when you are about to shoot a gun in a defense situation you're not paying attention to the slight nuances of the trigger. these videos pay to much attention to slight differences rather than real world situations.. It's being a little to picky. the mag release is pretty darn good compared to some others. The take down lever is just that. So you position the gun on a table the push the lever in a better position. Problem solved. Like your videos, but again they can be a bit to picky.

      I think for the most part we are in agreement and in all fairness I did mention that some of these parts arent for everyone. The whole point of the channel is testing and reviewing so that people considering buying guns or gun parts have more information and a better idea of the product. The takedown lever is one that I wouldnt buy if I were someone who just has the gun and not someone who makes videos testing this stuff. The mag release is actually good stock, but there is a noticeable upgrade with the Apex version. Again it’s dependent on the person as to weather or not its worth the purchase.
      The trigger is always the point of contention. In a self defense situation it’s statistically proven that the majority of people just mash on the trigger repeatedly. Actually even police will tend to do the same. Its the fight or flight thing. Keep pulling the trigger till the threat is no longer a threat. In that context yes you are right…it doesnt matter if the trigger feels like a shovel being dragged through the gravel or if it feels like ball bearings gliding across polished glass. Or does it? A smoother trigger pull helps for more consistent and accurate shot placement. To what degree that changes the end result is debatable. What isnt debatable is the training. The vast majority of the rounds you put through any gun are going to be at the range. Its all practice shots. That means that the “real world situation” is actually more your time at the range and less you actually drawing to eliminate a threat. That being said, the trigger upgrades on most of these guns do make a difference in comfort, accuracy, cadence.
      As someone trains and sees positive results, they see they are able to get closer groups at a faster rate of fire they build confidence. That pushes them to keep going, train to draw a little faster, shoot on the move etc etc. All things are tied to each other. Im not saying everyone should rush out and buy a new trigger for their favorite gun but I am saying there are a lot of people out there who can benefit from it. If someone is a horrible shot at the range then what will they be when they need to use that gun for a self defense situation? They will be a liability. Any advantage someone can get in order to be a better shooter, they should consider taking it.
      My last thought is this. Paying attention to these subtle nuances in firearms is somewhat the point of the channel. There are channels that focus on things like…how many pounds of play doh does it take to stop a 50 cal. There are channels that focus on firearm news. There are channels that focus on all sorts of topics within the firearm realm. I could skip the videos reviewing things like trigger upgrades but a big part of my focus is nuance. Without the nuance everyone would just buy a Glock 19 and there would be no other pistols on the market because why would there be when the G19 is reliable, affordable, fits both CCW and duty use. No its the subtle differences between things like cars that make us like the old Camaro’s from the 60’s vs the Mustangs or vise versa. I guess what im saying is this…I could change the format to strictly what counts in a firearm but here is where the videos would go. Ok folks the Hellcat Pro holds 15 rounds, you can put this list of optics on it, im at 900 rounds through it and it hasn’t had any failures, its acurate and easy to conceal…thats it for today, Ill see you next week. Lol theres just too much more information to give people

    I like a take up and clean break. This trigger seems to have it so that's good. QUESTION... Do you prefer the Holosun optic over the Wasp? If so why?

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад +2

      It has a take up and clean break. The issue is the wall on a stock Hellcat Pro is spongy instead of solid so you arent quite sure when or where it’s going to break. I do definitely prefer Holosun over everything. Ive tried the Wasp and its trash. Bad battery life, it feels cheaply made, the dot its self is hard to pick up at times because its auto adjust brightness tends to go more toward too dim than too bright. Seems like the people who really love it are the influencers who got one for free from Springfield…

    • @bluelinepatriot
      @bluelinepatriot Год назад

      @@360TacticalSolutions a clean break means no spoungyness :) I'll more then likely be going with a hellcat pro with an apex trigger. I started a new job where they want you to conceal carry and my M&P 2.0 I use for duty is great for open carry but I HATE it for conceal carry because the abrasive grips eat thru my shirts and rough up my skin big time.

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад

      @@bluelinepatriot I think our idea of a clean break is different. Im feeling that spongy false wall then the real wall which is fairly solid and defined and then you pull through and your shot breaks. Either way, Apex everything lol. Have you tried smoothing the M&P grip with a light piece of sand paper? I have a buddy who used some 180 grit. Just a quick light once over so it doesnt tear up the skin. Mines old enough the grip has naturally smoothed out. I almost want to send it off to be stippled. I miss the rough texture

      I had the Wasp on my Hellcat. Battery lasted 1 month. (Every battery ) you must remove it to change the battery. It is always on. I used C & H adapter plate and Holosun507k x2.

    That’s interesting. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about apex and then being unsafe

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад +2

      I have to say ive never heard that. The only thing that people say is that you shouldn't mess with your stock trigger. Those are usually the people who believe you shouldn't change anything about your firearm and the only way it's going to be reliable is keeping it completely stock. The reality is Apex is the standard when it comes to trigger upgrades. They are certified for duty use in literally dozens of law enforcement agencies across the country. They have managed this because of their safety record and testing procedure. Before this trigger was released to the public Apex had been working on the design, changing it, testing it, changing it...putting it in the gun and literally beating it with a hammer, dropping if off ladders onto cement. Apex has the best safety record of any trigger on the market. If anyone says they are unsafe I'd love to hear their explanation as to why they are unsafe because there is just no truth to it
