I’ve listened to dozens of Tiny Desk Concerts and this remains one of my favorites. I come back to it a couple of times every year and simply melt. Kat’s tender, plaintive and nuanced vocals, supported by Steve’s beautiful guitar fingerwork still transports me. If I were gifted with a private little end-of-life concert, I think i would want it to be these two.
Kat is the ultimate performer!!! The feeling of love and loss, the joy, the sadness. She encompasses every aspect of the heart. She gives hope, she tells the truth, she offers compassion at what is not meant to be. Often all in the same song. She let's us know that she feels every condition that we feel. Truly an amazing artist, songwriter, singer, and performer. Thank you for this.
Heartbreak, sincerity, integrity & a sweetness in her voice that can soothes the soul or bring on a good cry. I just love her to pieces. The guitar player was wonderful, too. Such a beautiful duo.
kat you keep singing I think u are the best better than a lot of these other singers around anyway you are beautifull and u have a beautifull voice keep singing god bless you oh where can I buy your song called lucky I love this song
These days, Edmonson plays with guitarist Steve Elliot, writing some of her own songs, digging deep into the spirit of those more artistically innocent times, and she finds contemporary writers who tell tales of longing and desire and more. On her new album Way Down Low, and now at the Tiny Desk, Edmonson is no longer simply inspired by days gone by; with that fragile voice, she's given it new life. In a digital and branded age, she stands out soft and clear. (from their website, I personally don't know why they rewrote this to exclude him...)
I really dug this video! Her dress makes her look she could be Steve's girlfriend from Blue's Clues. Not that I care... just an obersavtion:) great tunes
It's strange, the voice is so pitch perfect it kind of sounds like it's been added onto the video in some kind of post production way. Am I the only one ?
I prefer the songs like this one in which she sings in a higher pitch. Other songs with lower pitches seems to resonate through her nose which I like less. I’d love to see her perform after this Coronavirus thing eases. Her type of music is so refreshingly different than pop music and lots of other music which is too complicated, too noisy with too many instruments.
While everyone around me keeps listening some tropical music, Shakira and stupid nonsense music.. I keep hearing Kat over and over again and feel my soul starting to clean itself from this mundane world.
Her voice is sublime

Why isn't the guitar player's name mentioned?! Do people think that level of guitar accompaniment is no big deal? Whoever he is, he's great....
Steve Elliot
I agree.....Steve should be added to this credit list (at the top). He's not invisible when he plays guitar so beautifully.
I just love her
one million likes and infinite love see you at rainbow
Oh Kat, please come back to the Ramshead in Annapolis. Your voice and materials haunt me, either lifting my soul or dumping in the hopper.
You have a unique and beautiful voice. Your guitar guy is great. God bless you. Have seen you perform in Seattle. Will always listen to you.

Great guitar player, good sound, style and rhythm. That guitar was unplugged.

Omg... Awesome
She does 'sad' on a Patsy Cline level, which should be impossible...one of the best singers on Earth!
Lucky is a great goodnight, sweet dreams, sleep with the angels song.
I have a crush on her respectively

Different sound that I’m used to hearing with Kat. Would not have known that was her at first.
"I Don't Know" sounds like a lost Beatles Tune. Nice work Ms. Edmonson.
An American treasure.

So is that Steve Elliott?

god i wish she sang to me while i played........im crazy bout this chick....her voice is wiked too
diva ... lucky us

Her nasal qualities on the lower notes are still pitch on perfect though.
She has the same vocal qualities as the late great Nell Carter did.
Lucky sounds like My Sweet Lord
His name is Steve Elliot
Nice to include the credits for the production crew - Nice job everyone, but that most talented guitar player receives no joy (or credit)
What kind of camera was used to record these older sessions? I absolutely love the vibe it sets.
Were did this little cup cake come from?
Kat grew up in Houston, Tx. She currently lives in New York.
While everyone around me keeps listening some tropical music, Shakira and stupid nonsense music.. I keep hearing Kat over and over again and feel my soul starting to clean itself from this mundane world.
