The shore is such a beautiful song...makes me feel all my lost emotions, lost love, makes me think of friends and beloved family members that are gone. But after listening my soul is feeling easier and clearer. Thank you Basia
Anyone who thinks her vocal abilities are "limited", please check out her song "It Can't Be You" and be prepared to eat some crow. This lady is incredibly talented.

to answer charlie hutchinsons question the instrument basia is playing so very well is a hammer dulcimer, i`ve not heard it played so well for many a year. i love this session.

I read so many comments on RUclips about how this person or that person is better than that person or this person, can't there be several or many or millions of exquisite voices? It's kind of reality, undeniable and certainly a bit more grace!

Heart of my Own is one of my absolute favorite songs. I adore her delicate vibrato, the percussion, and the viola solo. I also love how emotional it is.
When I heard Basia live I was blown away. Recordings do not do her angelic voice justice
I saw her just before she performed this; in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It was fantastic. I don't know the name of the first song she played, but I never found a recording that came even close to how she played for us that evening.
It's called The Shore :) It's my dream to see her do that song live, I can imagine it would be incredibly beautiful

I'm here on the monthly since then. I saw her open for Beirut at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC around the time this video came out. Never forget.
Playing NPR's Tiny Desk is stepping onto the national stage. If this talented young lady and her sweet band do well, their careers go into hyper-drive. Seemed pretty flawless to me. It worked and they knew it... She knew it! There was real joy in her smile!

This reminds me and is the sound to the end off a 14 yr relationship and glad to say 7 yrs passed and we r remembering the friends we were before lovers.

I agree, its an autoharp. She uses a device to strum 5 different chords throughout while she plays with a small mallet. It sounds like a hammer dulcimer when she plays with the mallet. Very cool!

As an Alaskan, life can get pre-occupied by just the survival... I built a soundstage in my own backyard, that I may practice Harmonica...A "hammered dulcimer", is a beautiful monument to, "art for art's sake". Thank You, Basia...
