@@MynameisKyle99I'm also a big fan of both the Superorganism and Mother Falcon performances. YMMV with Hobo Johnson but I loved it. Also Andrew Bird. I could recommend stuff all day, sorry.
Don't get me wrong... Been listening to this since the day it dropped... But best ever? Uhhhhhhhh... You need to hear more good music. Plenty of painful off-key moments here. Just the facts.
Oh, oh my. I am completely smashed by that first song. It is so beautiful, so moving. I felt like my heart would stop. What singing! What a voice! What feeling! I know it's a trope but it brought tears to my eyes. The band is incredible. Talk about a tight sound. It was like listening to a studio production (in the good way). Everything came together perfectly. Wow, what arrangements. This is a world class band. I am going to purchase whatever they have put out.
new favorite band, amazing dynamic shifts, godly singer with really funny expressions, huge sound, jazz and folk infuences, all pulled together with quality classical musicianship.
The second tune is much more jazz-influenced, and that trombone at the beginning is a straight up jazz sound, as far as I can tell. I do hear more classical and folk influence most of the time, though.
this band has all things that are good. No need for genre-fication just plain high quality musical expertise and natural talent at its best. And i tip my hat to mccormick and the rest of the family crest. most definitely cannot die before seeing them live
My original favorite Mother Falcon may be on pause for a little while, but I still have a place in my heart for their friends of Family Crest. Remember when they toured together. Brilliant!!!
This is a band I suspect I will be devotedly following for years to come. There's something about it that is exactly what i want in my music. Thank you very much for this gem.
This is a damn good band. I heard them Live at BFD and I loved the energy. Hope people can appreciate the variation in instruments that this group brings.
TBH I dont like the recorded songs too much, they are way more jazzy but this Tiny Disk concert is unbelievably good. To me it feels more like rock or even metal played with acoustic instruments. Reminds me of System of a down with its ups and downs of loudness and calmness. Totally love it!
I heard about these guys about a month ago, and I love them. They have subtlety and energy simultaneously, and the contrast between the two is great. Plus, they're orchestral indie, so the sound is so full and gorgeous.
I first heard this song "Make Me a Boat"...it was on youtube for a couple of blokes sailing in the Kimberleys...western Australia. Loved the sound and the lyrics. Thought it was a woman singing due to his falsetto. That led me to see who this band is...which led me to NPR. The general feeling is like when i found Paulo Nuttini by accident. You are so blown away by the talent that you drop everything and sit there for hours soaking up every nuance of their performance. Blown F'ing away!
Nothing is ever original in the world, what we do is taking elements from anywhere and take it a bit further through what we have in our experiences. I like their energy!
Working from home and playing this video for the third time today... Difficult to focus on work with this great music on 🙈 Thanks for the introduction NPR!
Oltre ad essere dei bravissimi musicisti ma tu Liam hai una voce che va oltre il cielo oltre l'universo.........quanto mi piacerebbe ascoltarvi dal vivo qui in Italia..........Grazie per questi 18 minuti di estasi........
I'm here in 2019 wondering if Liam is a Muse fan. The line in Beneath The Brine "It burns like this sun" is the same melody as the same line from Muse's song Sunburn. Also, Liam shares an obvious love for Spanish influences and for falsetto, much like Matt Bellamy.
Absolutely phenomenal. So glad I chose to listen to Tiny Desk today. About to listen to it the rest of the night. This is the fifth band in a row I've been amazed by.
i love the family crest and their music so so so much! and liam never fails to amaze me with his vocals, it's always heartwarming listening to their songs!!
All three songs feel like getting slapped in the face on both cheeks with something lovely after a lazy summers morning dream.. Intense is the only word i find adequate.
I am happy to explain my downvote. The band itself is very good. However, despite the broad range of music styles in my playlists, this particular performance - and it's operatic and melodramtic style - disrupts pretty much every playlist I have, and others who are the room have referred to it as "grating". So I have downvoted it to prevent it from reappearing in my youtube preferences.
@@goober8798 I don't think downvote necessarily prevent RUclips from recommending it. Instead, you have to click on "not interested" on the 3 dots next to a thumbnail

@How We Decorate Time, ty for the names of the performers but who plays the drums?
@@kathyhollenbach7413 their drummer in this video is Charlie Giesege (i may be spelling that wrong)!
Yes that is me
anthony franceschi is a masterful anthony franceschi player
Beneath the Brine is SUCH a good song. Watching them play it live was a treat.
I can't go through my day without hearing Beneath the Brine in my head.
This remains the best performance I've ever seen by any band ever ever. Blows my mind every single time
This, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones are definitely the best performances on NPR! Cheers!!

NPR Tiny Desk Concerts have become a pillar of my life right now. Where I would be without these introductions....
Nate Bodie i almost thumbz down to be hip but i was hiper
Same!
Always find musical gems on the NPR Tiny Desk series like Beirut, Mother Falcon, Family Crest, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, and Los Hacheros!
De France...entièrement d'accord avec toi
Add in there Moonhooch for me. I think "Orginized Choas" Should be a category.
Hand to God - this beauty makes we want to shed a happy tear for us humans. We suck so much, so often, and then THIS happens.

Why am I hearing this for the first time?! My life is changed! Thank YOU!
Tiny Desk is one of the best things that has happened to music.
This is my absolute favorite Tiny Desk. I love this set. It's amazing. You played for 18.16 minutes, but I have listened to it 100+ times. Thank you.
Love this mans voice crazy

That song ' Make me a boat' still moves me after so many years ! What a performance.

Liam in my opinion is the driving force behind this impressive band. Even on his own he would be just as awe-inspiring.
+vampcaff Yeah, his voice is pretty incredible.
there is a video of just him performing Beneath The Brine (the first song)!
Love it. "Beneath The Brine" is like a battle song for the broken heart!
great to see a band with so many different instruments come together so awesomely. this is a rare jewel.
I'm ona drink NPR tiny desk concert binge and these guys are my favorite so far

This is seriously some of the best NPR tiny desk hands down!
Returning to all the Tiny Desk performances that shaped my musical taste for the last 10 years is truly like discovering your own buried treasure.
Same!
I think this one of the best concerts in NPR.
My man looks like hes cosplaying as a Bard from DnD and absolutely killing it!
The first two minutes make me so happy every time. That is some powerful music.
The whispering in Howl makes my life. 9:40
Keep coming back to this every now and then. Absolutely beautiful! That awkward hug at the end tho..
HOW I never heard this before!?!? Awesome!
I know I'm quite randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to watch new tv shows online?
@Reece Kairo Flixportal xD
@Orlando Aiden thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!
@Reece Kairo no problem xD
So many replays. Now my 9 year old asks me to play this.we singing it out loud and it filled my heart!
Seeing it performed live helps me appreciate the style. I enjoy this concert a lot!
Beneath the Brine is so God Damn epiccccccccccccccccccccccccc
They have many good songs (the family crest). I heard them first on my discover weekly and orchestral indie rock is 100% the best genre of music imo
These guys are so good, I've just recently found them again and I'm so happy!

You guys need to have The Dear Hunter on here asap
Jesse Bout I wholeheartedly agree
Yes!!!!
This is a comment I can stand behind. Go TDH!
I saw two of the dates where they toured with TDH. It was an amazing couple of nights of music.
I'm really digging their vibe! This is one of the first bands, in a while, I'm excited to hear more from!!
Wow. Great energy and love the music.
Their music is absolutely gorgeous! wow
What would I be listening to without NPR...thanks. Great music!!
They are. Awesome and original. Nothing like Mumford and sons

Just got around to them on NPR, haven't stopped listening since. So great!
Tiny desk and this song is the best thing that has ever happened on this planet throughout my life. 100%

just amazing, i can't get enough.
Big & Great first one, beneath the brime, it's so uprising. Congrats, the studio version sounds great too with all strings together, nice work.
Awesome sound! Love this!
Art needs more initiaves like that. We have to spread good vibes out. Thanks to you guys, you made my day.
Love that subtle Go Pro advertisement before their last song.
Miracleberry1 they have done a sound track for a go pro ad.
i love the family crest and their music so so so much! and liam never fails to amaze me with his vocals, it's always heartwarming listening to their songs!!
As fun to watch as it is to listen. Watching again now.
I first heard of The Family Crest on NPR, love their sound! This is great to see this.
Amazing! reminds me of Rufus Wainwright!
These guys are awesome.
I love this music 100% true

Merveilleux autant qu'envoûtant, merçi!

Amazing music and what a great performance by the whole band. Super jealous of the singers voice and teeth. 😬
Fantastic. Please keep this talent together!!!! Visit Louisville, Ky. I want more of this and your future creations. Thank you.

Soooo good. They move like the ocean x
