I've been obsessed with 2-chord songs for a while now and I came to realize that most of the songs that draw my interest lately are 2-chord songs like 'I Don't Live Here Anymore'. I think it tells a lot about a band, producer and songwriter that they can elevate a 2-chord harmony to so many different heights, opening up sonic landscapes with a non-stop infectious groove that just makes you feel like you're on a never-ending trip to paradise. You can begin your journey discovering 2-chord songs with 'Dreams' by Fleetwood Mac and 'Horse With No Name' by America. Of course there are hundreds of classic songs with 2 chords but it's always a pleasant surprise when you find new modern bands that can build up on that and expand. The War on Drugs did it perfectly with 'I Don't Live Here Anymore'. If you know more addictive 2-chord songs, please, let me know.
All these musicians are incredible. I never get tired of watching Charlie on his drum kit. I hope you guy's win your second best rock album Grammy...you deserve it.
@@rtrout57 How come? Their single, “I don’t live here anymore” should nab a nomination at least. Grammy’s aren’t the be-all, end-all of course, but to fortify their legitimacy, the academy should occasionally nominate serious artists.
It's amazing how TWOD keeps getting better as a band. This album is pure gold! The melodies are sharper, the sound is steady, and the guitar waves are beautifully intertwined with the bass, drums, piano, synth. Great album & phenomenal band!
It's more produced and fits more suitably into their ideal genre. But to the cost of their authenticity, their music used to have. I finally accepted that the magic from Lost In the Dream will be something from the past. But the fact that they made an album as perfectly beautiful as that is enough for me. Its sound was universal, unlike their new work which seems to have a clear direction, as if formulated by an algorithm,
I just discovered this band 3 days ago. I'm totally obsessed !!!!The Sound quality that this band is creating is beautiful. Best band I've heard in years. ❤️❤️🎸 Loving that solid bass line, tight drums, and meditative keyboard sounds
Our daughter, 1 now, loves this set. No joke. She loves being in my arms and watching this, especially during the last song with the backup singers (which is phenomenal)
This is the same the same exact feeling I had in 1977, when I walked into band class early, and Led Zeppelin IV was on a turntable, and I listened and fell in love with music. It felt like I knew what music was supposed to be. A certain clarity, a certain recognition of beauty. The War on Drugs exemplify sonic existential perfection that escapes my description. Can't explain it, just feel it. Thanks guys.
I think one of the things I like most about a lot of their songs is they start out basic and slow, build it up and finish with some form high energy. It can be a big finish with a guitar break or a piano outro that brings it all together. Just an awesome band. Glad I get to see them twice this year in my home state of NC.
Got goosebumps listening to this! I went to see them live last night in Lisbon, just stunning! Technically perfect, beautiful vocals, just mesmerising! And Charlie was hugely entertaining on the drums... We only went there to see this band, but Adam kept saying "Coming up next, The Strokes!" I wonder if they realised how many people were there just to see them, and didn't really care about who was coming on after their set... Can't wait to see them again somewhere, planning a trip just around it!
I'm new to this band and im blown away, first of all the drummer sounds like a metronome, amazing :) And the second track just hit me like a truck, so beautiful, with heavenly guitarparts that i could listen to repeat for a few hours...in fact...i have been :)
Adam is having fun on this one and enjoying it you can tell. Another incredible album from start to finish 👌 Did anyone notice that after Adam sang “…and we went to see Bob Dylan, we danced to Desolation Row” that he sang the next line like Bob Dylan?! So cool 😎
Only discovered them yesterday and oh my God I think they sound a lot like Tom Petty and several ways but they're fucking amazing over the top the just amazing
The mix here is amazing, it is live! Who is ‘coaster’ .? The sound is scary good, as is the band! Revealing the complexity of outstanding modern sound! However you still need the root cause- TWOD!!
@@paulkubic786 I saw them live in Birmingham, UK in April, and the sound quality that night was also superb. As was the entire staging of the gig. A truly memorable concert.
The rhythm section is so tight in this performance. Charlie is locked in like Charlie Watts, and David's simple yet complex bass lines keep everything moving. A great base for the layers upon layers of sonic goodness on top.
These guys, this band is just unbelievable. So many littke hooks in all their songs. I fiest discovered them in 2016 i have not been able to put them down since
If "in chains" and "eyes to the wind" got together and had a baby...this would be its offspring. Perfectly healthy adorable. Best I've heard them sound ever!
After some relistening of these newest songs, I don’t wanna wait is such a gem. Adam is singing more and more out front-I think you heard the vocal leap forward on the previous album, where he really settled in to his vocal style. Now he and the band sound better than ever. Will be my first band to see live in the aftertimes, when they hit New England.
I first heard WOD on the winter of 2022 Austin City Limits broadcast. Every instrument is in its own place with an amazing transition from one song to the next in what was an incredible power set. I have worked FOH, studio, and broadcast shows as a mix engineer and would love to have a band such as WOD at my fingertips live. I would love to have that ACL show to purchase. Researching WOD history I can see why they are so good. They are known and loved all over the world.
I'm usually not loyal to bands, because when you have albums as good as a Deeper Understanding, it's difficult to follow up. They've not only followed it up, but equalled it. I'm in love with this album. Old Skin, Harmonias Dream, Wasted, I'm having love affairs with these songs
I’ve never been so excited to see any other live show then them! The War On Drugs carriers so many pieces of my soul through their music. This album is no exception. I will never forget the exact place I was at when I first heard An Ocean In Between The Waves. The same goes for I Don’t Live Here Anymore. Thanks for making these incredible songs 🎶
This is music for adults. Don't recommend it for children, they will not understand without tutelage, good stuff!!!! The heart and soul you guys put into your music! Absolutely in love with The War On Drugs 😍 “Change” is the one I’ve been listening to the most and this live version of it is incredible!
Interesting to see the different approaches of same song and location, Tiny Desk so subtle, and this one so powerful, wow, the the close up shot from him everytime he sings "i dont live here anymore.."

Can't wait to meet you in Europe early next year! the War on Drugs is the show to see.. It's never been a war really but more like a love story :)
Roots Rock I once heard this described as. Stripping it back to simple beautiful riffs, layered together. There is not a wasted or extra note with this band. The #1 streamed band for me for the last 3 years by a mile.

Lord have mercy!!! Love you guys and gal
Best rock band in the world right now.
Fact..
Exactly!
Right behind Wilco. Both awesome live.
Yes no argument. This is the Zeppelin or whatever of this generation
Yes they are the best now..
Me 70 years old, totally flabbergasted by this band. Probably the musical revalation of the 2000's. Buy the albums people !!
My nephew said this weekend : auntie you have to listen to ‘’the War on Drugs’’ you’ll love it! My nephew is a smart cookie 🥰
That's beyond precious 😍 😮😂😂😂

Happy 1 year to this video. Still as great.
