I'm not sure but my Mavic 2 and its fcc and CE mode were depending on the GPS location
Nothing else.
If I arrived in the US with my drone from europe purchased in China / Hong Kong the Mavic 2 will run in FCC mode from the second I start it for the first time in the US.
If I come back to italy or Austria it will switch after first turn on to CE mode.
And there is a hack available for 18$ or so that will run the Mavic 2 always in FCC mode.
Kudos to the team behind this site! You're helping lots of pilots with this!
Agree! I think more people got to learn more about FPV when DJI released their FPV drone! The hobby grows as more people become interested in it

I am not a DJI fan, but I am happy that they are opening up FPV to people that would not have otherwise tried it. I caught your last video about the unlock being sold, so its great to see you actually make the free video! That is the core of FPV. People coming together to help each other and have fun. NOT making money off each other. Great video as always!
Opening up FPV to stupid people is such a great idea in my opinion if the thing weighs 800 gram and flies 140km/h.
The DJI FPV may restrict fpv even more. The problem is people with money can just buy one without really being interested in the hobby. And they won't have the skills required. Already there are hundreds of videos with DJI FPV crashes. Call me crazy, but I don't like an 800 gram drone going 140km/h fly against my head.
Now that doesn't mean the DJI FPV is junk. What it is made for is getting video shots you can't get otherwise. Like commercials for instance.
But it is not for fun flying around the house. Unfortunately that is exactly what these people will do. Take it from me, these are not the club types.
Regardless if it is just a normal drone or fpv, beginners should always start with a nice mini drone and learn to fly manually. And not with a 1200 quid GPS drone you can put into ACRO mode to see if you know your left from your right after 5 minutes of the simulation on the goggles.
@@driewiel have you ever considered that people spending £1250 on a drone may choose to be a little more careful with it? You sound a little elitist, I have to say - I personally will enjoy my DJI FPV quad and the superior HD link it comes with. Sometimes it's nice to have something that simply "works" out of the box so you can just get out there and explore without worrying it's going to burn up in the air. I say this having been flying FPV since 2011 and building tricopters / quads out of pieces of wood flooring cut-offs and 12mm pine. I'd much rather people start learning FPV on this DJI drone with it's failsafes etc instead of the janky non-gyro KK board monstrosities I built when I first started out.
This safety thing is a complete fallacy. It's simply elitism and, dare I say it, probably a bit of jealousy too. People talk about being inclusive, but immediately crap all over people who have chosen a DJI drone for their "fun fix" instead of something they built themselves.

@@FPVSteve I agree. The fact that the DJI system works out of the box says a lot. Sure, you can buy a "real" FPV drone for a lot less money, but the money you save is a wash when you consider the time you go to setting up Betaflight (or whatever OS the drone is using), setting up the radio to do what you want it to, then pairing your drone with your radio, then figuring out what you programmed incorrectly when you can't arm the drone via the radio (been there done that). The FPV world is big enough so that there's plenty of room for both kinds of flyers. The folks who want to dig into the nuts and bolts of FPV, learn how to solder, fix, program, etc. And those who simply want it to work out of the box. And I can't fault DJI for their safety features. Yes, it's a very expensive drone, but it does a lot of stuff to keep flyers reasonably safe. And I can't argue with that.

Yes all my air units are opened to 1200 and I have to arm straight away so they don’t over heat my little caddx vista will overheat in a minute if not armed and that’s not been unlocked lol

Totally agree. I have a DJI FPV drone now and actually like it a lot, but I've done FPV since around 2013 or 14 and also have a Nazgul5 and a Titan DC5 for my hobby FPV using the digital system. We've always been kind of a niche market, thought of as a few kids in the neighborhood running around annoying people at the park, etc. Maybe the FPV drone will attract so many more pilots and hobbyists, etc., that we'll grow into a big enough group that we're more respectable! And our equipment will improve even more. So I think if it grows the hobby, that's also a good thing....

Great work Andy I paid for the dh and don't mind paying. After getting my dji and flying it for the first time I did go and buy a second hand drone on drone junk yard. And I flew it and felt more confident than I did when I first tried fpv 2 years ago I love it now I have the cheep one for bashing and the dji for them great relaxing flight

Got nazgul 5hd but with crossfire, I’m completely new, and I think that future for drones is in smaller controllers and I would learn on it from the start, and I don’t have any habits at all

Cheers Andy super job very easy done it turns it into a much better experience I used it yesterday and then flew my inflight XL5 HD WITH GoPro 9 on it and To be fair the DJI defo held its own but the XL5 Is defo a much nicer drone to fly they both have a place in the market I think it will get lots of people into FPV that would never tried it I am like you’re self an old school RC analog guy but to be fair the DJI Digital flight experience is fantastic I think I can fly faster on Analog because you see less it’s like ‘use the force Luke’ stuff but the digital is so detailed you sort of cruise and take in more

if you live in the USA and are on the very outer edge of a restricted fly zone, will this fix that too? I lose video signal at about 600 meters and the drone brakes and won't go any further at just beyond that range.

The question is how to use it with non-DJI googles but to have digital link ? What is the max transition power and average flight time on Nazgul5 HD? Does it have any collision prevent sensors ?

Hey Andy, thanks for your great video. In my case the unlocking doesn't seem to work at least by measuring it. I haven't flown it yet but I have RF meeter and before and after the unlocking it shows -43.0 dbm max hold value in the 5.8 Ghz band. Any thoughts?

I’m confused, I’ve flown about 1 to 1.5 Kilometers away (in the US) and have not had much trouble. Nothing that makes it unflyable. Is the only benefit to unlocking it giving you better range? I don’t understand the reason why it would be locked in the first place. Seems like doing this creates it to be more unsafe? does unlocking the drone give you the ability to go above 500 Meters? That would be a good reason to unlock the drone
Have d3vl also come out with a full unlock that includes the removal of the height limit of 500m and the geofencing. Isnt it also true that he updates are required or you cannot fly? Thanks for the info!

Great video Andy, we get shafted in uk lol, one important thing to note if you fly without using the phone/app attached there are no logs, mine had a sensor error while flying message on the screen came up and it dropped like a stone. Now DJI are treating like a regular crash and charging me for what should be a warranty issue but with no logs just a video of it going forwards then dropping does not help me out . Got the drone 5th flew it at 2 locations and it’s been weeks with DJI so pretty annoyed with them tbh but my builds that use air unit I never have a issue

Hello Andy and thank you for your help! I got the DJI Goggles V2 and DJI O3 Air Unit for an other project, I live in Europe so I'm guessing my version
is the low power. After some problems trying to activate my Air Unit, I was finally able to unlock it with b3y0nd. But.. how am I 100% sure that it's been
unlocked? On my Goggles I get the Low power indication and I can dissable it from the Goggles Menu. Is it possible that this is not a thing? How can I find
out except a range test? Thanks!!!!

I am curious when the first replacement frames will pop up for this DJI drone. Looks like it's a great device to mod into something more structural solid. If you only stick the hardware on a 5" frame it will improve it a lot. But still be very easy to fly for beginners and people who don't want to do acro.
Nothing on the dji fpv drone will fit on a carbon frame
You'll still be stuck with that hugely expensive (and hard to fit on a carbon frame) DJI "smart" battery though.
@@xjet Yes that is true. Perhaps it will go the other way. Now that DJI has shown how easy it can be to fly FPV, other manufacturers will come with similar tech on flight controllers. I'm learning to code Python with a Tello drone which has similar features. That is something that could be implemented in other DIY setups.
I hope someone bridges the gap between the two soon. I would love the feature set and range of the DJI but with the flyability and durability of a custom quad. I want to be able to do acro one moment, and then go explore longer range the next with the peace of mind of DJI's GPS return to home if signal is lost.
Does higher transmitter power lead to shortened flying-time? I mean the power consumtion of the transmitter-unit should be increased by a good amount ....
I did this but the height didn't increase it's still stuck at 500meters, please help? Do I need a different controller then the dji one.
