Is the software the same as the Mavic 2 Pro's where it prohibits you from taking off and flying in some areas? Looking to take across the US and don't want to encounter any restricted fly zones.

As you can now buy the DJI FPV Drone in a non combo package, which we now know comes with the DJI FPV Drone but no controller. Is it possible from your knowledge, if the DJI FPV Drone can be used using DJI's other controllers, such as the controller for their DJI Mavic Air 2 and Mini 2 Drones along with the DJI Fly App?.

It being a DJI product and especially having ADS-B functionality, I would assume that you are going to run into certain places where others safety takes top priority. The DJI FPV drone is a two-in-one drone that can switch from one mode to another in seconds. I also love that it also like having an Osmo Action attached to it with its Rocksteady stabilization. Of course, it looks so bad-ass!
My philosophy is the complete opposite of yours. I'd rather have two separate things that perform their functions at the highest level, than one thing that does them both mediocre. I say that as an engineer.

"I want all of these features, but in the power train that I decide and with the tune that I decide" You *really* need to try INAV. It's hella janky compared to DJI, but if you get it setup right and tuned right it can do position hold, altitude hold, proper RTH including landing, waypoint missions etc, and then at the flip of a switch goes back into acro mode. And it runs on most Betaflight hardware! (Though you need a well setup barometer, gps and compass at a minimum. Sonar and optical flow sensors improve it even more.)
I don't need anything but GPS and RTH on my fpv quads, and they already have it. I don't need my fpv quads to land by themselves. My long range has crossfire diversity and the same flight times as this thing. I have an Evo 2 Pro for things like holding my altitude and waypoint missions and it's much more stable. Rarely do I ever want to do both things at the same time. Especially on a platform that's not easily repairable.
I got the drone bug from my mini 2. I then got a Air 2S. Dji has me hooked. I am going to be springing for this, 1 step closer to a "real fpv" experience. But baby steps. Appreciate your honesty on its up sides and downfalls.
I have never flown a drone before but have watched a serious amount of FPV videos over the years. The review for this DJI FPV drone is by far the best I have seen so far and it feels like a genuine review. Great job and maybe sometime soon I might have a FPV drone of my own!
Leave it to DJI to implement the most expensive FPV camera setup with a digital camera and gimbal, then completely forget that in FPV we need some sort of camera protection - most expensive crash ever. lol. Love the content Nurk! Best of luck in the upcoming DRL season!

Finally, a review video that doesn't sound like an AD. Bardwells video next. My biggest take away from this video at least are these points 1) If you buy this combo, realise you like the hobby, excellent, have fun buying an OpenTX radio - £150. Then quickly realising you don't have the range of your new fangled DJI, Crossfire module - £150, it's a good thing the Goggles work with the 1st edition Air Units but you're going to need dedicated antennas as they send and receive both 2.4 and 5.8ghz. 2) The sticks don't directly correspond to that of the enthusiast FPV world, you'll send any quad to the moon by throwing the throttle stick up. 3) yes, you will learn the fundamentals of power loops, split s, gaps, etc but as Paul mentioned, she's got some heft to her. 4) This drone seems to be aimed at people in the cinema world but I'm not sure if it will fit in? It seems like a more capable Mavic. 5) Yes, this is a freestyle drone but people need to not get but hurt that it's not as good as our pro-sumer grade 5 inch freestyle. Take a chill pill people 😂 6) The price, although not mentioned in this video is £1200 in the UK, for that you could build at least 3 of Nurks budget builds and learn every part of the build process. Or build 1 and have enough money for a GoPro Hero 9 and Realstedy. This drone fits my mates needs, not mine. I'm never going to own one, I just struggle to see why someone who wants to get into the FPV world wouldn't build their own or if they just want footage, buy a Mavic? That's my 2 cents 10/10 review as always Nurk
@@platty9237 it has to do with the frequency that the LED is flickering and the shutter speed of the camera. Hard to explain over text but when those two things are misaligned, the camera will pick up frames where the light appears to be off. This makes it possible for our eyes to see the flicker of the light whereas if you were in person, the flicker would be imperceptible and the light would just be "on".
Been watching you for some time. Gotta say your rhythm and flow is very very watchable. Not all flips fun from your viewpoint... Also commentary and speed of delivery is THE best in this niche. I watch most stuff on 1.5 speed or greater just to stay in audience. Great! Great!! Great!!! to have an accomplished pilot and mentor guiding this world, sport, hobby, and or profession.

Great review and very helpful to hear your opinion. Straight forward, honest and fun edit! Love the progression of drones and that was what I hoped for when I flew those frustrating drones years ago. Will be a good choice for me since I like relaxing cruise flights more than acro, will have enough confidence and flighttime with it in the mountains. Back like ages ago I always wanted a DJI naza return home safety combined with the betaflight flight feeling. Now we're there. No betaflight or inav gps mode is necessary anymore ;)

Can you use the av-out to any other monitoring device besides your phone? Also, imo the ability to tilt the gimbal is a game changer for cimematic follow shots of vehicles...coming around them and flying backwards, etc. Have you figured out how to switch from stand still/hover to acro mode for a take?
Great, comprehensive review man! I think this could be (one of) my next, future drone(s) as I've been flying Parrot drones and Mavics for a few years now but have zero FPV experience. I'd like to be able to incorporate some acrobatic aerial video footage into some of my future content but as of right now I'm a bit intimidated (and not really interested) in building (and maintaining) a drone from scratch.

How was the DJI fly app displaying all of the telemetry and letting you adjust the map in flight? All the other reviews I’ve seen say that it only outputs a live feed to your phone with no overlays..... thanks!
your awsome i just bought one today last year my dji mavic 2 was stolen at my last job i hope this one isnt a downgrade but the fpv googles makes it worth it and watching your video i also got the motion controller to make the experience that much more enjoyable

I was really worried it's camera was going to blow away the GoPro. Fortunately it didn't, and I don't feel the need to buy it and add it to my filmmaking kit. MONEY SAVED! Still looks interesting though. I might pick one up down the road.
What about the footage? Does it pass for basic commercial use? How does it compare to a GoPro? Can you shoot in a flat profile, what codecs, what frame rates, etc?

I have heard the old DJI remote has better reception penetration than xfire by Shawn Moris Rotor Riot. I would love to have the controller. I don't think I would spend 400$ just to be able to use it with my vistas unless I come into some cash!!!!!
Great review. The video is good I just purchased the v2 goggles. I like the features of the dji combo. but prefer my own choices and radio. I f you had a challenge making that look smooth mine would be toast lol

I'm still wondering which version of Dji fly app have sent to Nurk,where he had to his phone full osd and informations of the Dji fpv.Clearly shown after 11.10 at the upper left screen recording.He can even open the Map at the Dji fly app at 17.04.

Sick :p Is it possible to connect 2 controllers to 1 drone? (For training purposes) connecting multiple goggle is possible also right just like normal fpv spectators or is that different with this one?
Honestly, I think most people's "fears" about this (including myself here) were fueled by buyers remorse. You know, the whole idea of, I just got into this hobbie and spent quite some money to do it....aaaand if I waited I could have had a DJI RTF that is better? Buuuuut after seeing your review and some of the others....I think I can say that this is just different. The way I see it, DJI is trying to be the Apple of drones. Making it more accesible, but getting you into a closed ecosystem. You break anything? DJI Care! You want to change props? Dji Store! More batteries...? Well.... I don't think this is a bad drone by any means, and it does some things wonderfully, but I don't think it's gonna replace a full inmersion into the FPV world, for those who want it. Great review! I am coming from I2 & Mavic world. You said this drone didn’t float like a normal pro fpv. Were you ever able to get more float on a loop or do you think a future tune update might help with that?
Oh wow. It's a flying drone with gps camera drone and fpv capability. All of the speculators were right after all. The cool part is that the video and penetration are better. Maybe they will upgrade the air units to get the same results.
I am part 107but mostly enjoy flying with the Jersey Droners each weekend at different locations. I want the DJI FPV because of how little info there is on building FPV drones and how many more options are available with the DJI FPV.. Im not even that interested in the FPV aspect as I am in footage. I would like to use a monitor to fly sometimes and love the ability to turn it back into a regular DJI drone when I need to land or bring it back into a more populated location. I have never heard of an FPV drone with all the features this one has and it makes me more comfortable to use it for the purposes I have in mind.. so its not a stepping stone into FPV....It is the FPV drone I have been looking for... the hybrid ...
So this would be my first FPV drone. My idea would be to buy the combo. Can you then build another drone and use the goggles and all for the next self build? I guess I need a new remote, but are the goggles compatible with something else?

I'm an experienced FPV guy and I approve this flying coffee machine. It offers additional features that regular rigs simply can't or don't have.

So, I saw your park shoot at 21:15, did you change the speed and power of the drone? how it was slow when you were going through the gaps?

I'd like to be able to incorporate some acrobatic aerial video footage into some of my future content but as of right now I'm a bit intimidated (and not really interested) in building (and maintaining) a drone from scratch.
i think that this is the perfect drone for guys like you that have a lot of experience with traditional drones. I hope you enjoy your forray into FPV.

Yes, I've had other consumer drones for a while now which I mostly use to shoot myself riding my bikes but I've been wanting to get into FPV for quite a while now (purely for the cinematic action video aspects).

The park freestyle is amazing, what degrees to comfortably navigate through all those small gaps, I end up 50m in the air before I know it
Is the new controller going to be compatible with the air unit and other digital fpv quads? I’m a much bigger fan of game style controllers but love the Digital stuff.

How was the DJI fly app displaying all of the telemetry and letting you adjust the map in flight? All the other reviews I’ve seen say that it only outputs a live feed to your phone with no overlays..... thanks!

It breaks so easily you probably wouldn't need turtle mode after a crash, even if it was available :x
your awsome i just bought one today last year my dji mavic 2 was stolen at my last job i hope this one isnt a downgrade but the fpv googles makes it worth it and watching your video i also got the motion controller to make the experience that much more enjoyable

I was really worried it's camera was going to blow away the GoPro.
Fortunately it didn't, and I don't feel the need to buy it and add it to my filmmaking kit. MONEY SAVED!

What about the footage? Does it pass for basic commercial use? How does it compare to a GoPro? Can you shoot in a flat profile, what codecs, what frame rates, etc?

I think they did.. it's in that drone.. 550 goggles.. 450 remote.. 200 dollar drone? I'm getting just for upgrades on Goggles. And if remote works with vista.and air unit. Then basically getting 200 upgraded air unit?? With motors shity frame and DJI ops for FC? Can't tune? Do love my crossfire.... and betaflight.. 👊👊💪💪
@@sleepingbearffg5008 I have the DJI V2 goggles 🥽. I'm currently installing my vista nano Pro in my Geprc Mark 4 Tmotor F722 FC TMOTOR 55A Ultra 20x20 ESC & the Tango 2. I have heard the old DJI remote has better reception penetration than xfire by Shawn Moris Rotor Riot.
I would love to have the controller. I don't think I would spend 400$ just to be able to use it with my vistas unless I come into some cash!!!!!
Great review. The video is good I just purchased the v2 goggles. I like the features of the dji combo. but prefer my own choices and radio. I f you had a challenge making that look smooth mine would be toast lol

Are you going to do a video on the Rates and Expo? I think one of the reasons it feels a bit strange is the motor angle. I am very impressed with mine for having it one day. And you can’t beat that Parking Brake. 🍍
You think a duct will help the DJI FPV? You mention that ducts help with boost in another video. So is it worth trying? Maybe with stiffer propellers?

I'm still wondering which version of Dji fly app have sent to Nurk,where he had to his phone full osd and informations of the Dji fpv.Clearly shown after 11.10 at the upper left screen recording.He can even open the Map at the Dji fly app at 17.04.

yes. in manual mode it locks to the degree you set

Honestly, I think most people's "fears" about this (including myself here) were fueled by buyers remorse. You know, the whole idea of, I just got into this hobbie and spent quite some money to do it....aaaand if I waited I could have had a DJI RTF that is better? Buuuuut after seeing your review and some of the others....I think I can say that this is just different. The way I see it, DJI is trying to be the Apple of drones. Making it more accesible, but getting you into a closed ecosystem. You break anything? DJI Care! You want to change props? Dji Store! More batteries...? Well....
I don't think this is a bad drone by any means, and it does some things wonderfully, but I don't think it's gonna replace a full inmersion into the FPV world, for those who want it.

Great review! I am coming from I2 & Mavic world. You said this drone didn’t float like a normal pro fpv. Were you ever able to get more float on a loop or do you think a future tune update might help with that?

Oh wow. It's a flying drone with gps camera drone and fpv capability. All of the speculators were right after all. The cool part is that the video and penetration are better. Maybe they will upgrade the air units to get the same results.

I am part 107but mostly enjoy flying with the Jersey Droners each weekend at different locations. I want the DJI FPV because of how little info there is on building FPV drones and how many more options are available with the DJI FPV.. Im not even that interested in the FPV aspect as I am in footage. I would like to use a monitor to fly sometimes and love the ability to turn it back into a regular DJI drone when I need to land or bring it back into a more populated location. I have never heard of an FPV drone with all the features this one has and it makes me more comfortable to use it for the purposes I have in mind.. so its not a stepping stone into FPV....It is the FPV drone I have been looking for... the hybrid ...
So this would be my first FPV drone. My idea would be to buy the combo. Can you then build another drone and use the goggles and all for the next self build? I guess I need a new remote, but are the goggles compatible with something else?
