That guy and his mom made me smile. "MOM! MOM! DONT GO UP! YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK THE ANTENNA!" This is exactly how i feel i woul be with my own mom lol
One year later... I remember seeing an FPV quad video maybe 5-6 years ago and immediately going, "where can I buy one of those?!?!?!" and then found out you pretty much had to build the things from scratch. I'm not a scientist, not an engineer, I barely understand electricity (things turn on, I use them), and building one was beyond my abilities (and to be honest, really didn't want to put in the time to learn how). I pretty much didn't give another thought to FPV until a month ago when I saw a video about the DJI FPV pop up on my YT feed. I had to own one. Immediately ordered it on Amazon. Within 1 week I had it on acro mode doing flips and rolls. Two weeks after that I was doing inverted yaw spins, rubiks cubes, mattyflips (all thanks to Drew). Three weeks later I had my first crash and broke an arm. Suffice it to say I drank the whole jug of Kool-Aid and I'm hooked. I'm now looking for a "real" freestyle BNF quad that I can really rip on. But without the DJI FPV, this whole hobby would still have been out of reach to me. Shout out to Drew, Joshua, and the rest of the Rotor Riot crew for easing my way into the world of FPV.
You guys are awesome. I just got this drone, I'm a total beginner. This is my first drone. Thanks for the review and tips. If you both like it, I know I made a good call!
The panic switch is absolutely an amazing feature to have on this drone but you can make one with a normal racing drone setup. I currently have a panic switch and it works wonders. There are little spots where I fly that I call “Black out zones” and these are spots where my goggles just completely cut and my screen goes to static. I have my controller set up so I have a switch that can control all three flight modes (Acro , Horizon and Angle). I have acro set up at the top of the switch because that’s how I fly, then the middle is horizon and at the bottom is Angle. If something happens like I hit a black out zone, I flick that switch and boom, the drone is self righted and level, after this I wait a second then hit the throttle slowly so it goes higher (Just keep in mind it will not hover!!!). This allows the drone to be higher up and I can take off my goggles if needed to bring the drone back safely. This is an amazing thing to have and it has saved my drone many times. Hope this helps somebody that wants this feature.
@@look2christ777 when something goes bad just switch your drone into Angle mode and it will self right and fix itself but it WILL NOT keep your drone stable like the DJI does. It will keep your drone from going upside down but it can and will still go all other direction including up and down but it is useful to save it from smashing Into the ground and breaking it more.
As an avid FPV flyer, this has its pros and cons. The latency can have a problem for courses that require pinpoint accuracy as well as maximum speed, but damn that clarity is something that you've really got to see!
How bad would you say the fact that the propellers are visible on some of your videos? If you have to crop Constantly it's kind of a real deal breaker for a cinematic quad according to me
Recently retired airline pilot here. As an `old fart` newbie to fpv drones I love the hand holding features of N mode. Gives a feeling of confidence that I won`t wreck the thing in the first 15 minutes. Haven`t crashed it at all yet :) A suggestion for someone who is brand new to remote control drones: buy a cheap toy to learn the rc basics. I`m Loving being `in the cockpit` again with the fpv goggles.
I think I'm gonna buy myself one. I have quite a few analog rigs of all different sizes. However I recently bought a dji mini 2 for a beach vacation and was blown away by the occusync. I'm gonna go for the combo mainly for the goggles but I'm quite impressed by the drone itself.
I'm glad it was received that way... it was a lot of silly screaming. Haha! But Bubby posted a training video with me on his channel and it was much more calm. Still so much fun! My favorite is the BRoll end clip with my crashes 😂 ruclips.net/video/j7lC6WWxqoc/видео.html
Drew is so good at throwing shade ^_^ "the lights are the best feature of this drone so far". Haha also when drew was reeling in vanover like a fish to calm his bias down haha I'm dying 🤣
I’ve had mine for 2 weeks now. Countless hours in the sim, and I’m flying around in manual. The best way to think about it is as a hybrid drone. I can still throw it in sport mode and hover around the skatepark filming friends. Then get home, and rip across the fields at 80 mph. Shoot up 300 ft and start flipping around. No way I’ll be shooting gaps in parking garages, but it definitely has a place.
It’s nice but I predict very few seasoned pilots like use this. My issue is the freestyle flights look different from normal freestyle. I can tell just by looking at the video that it’s not a normal quad. For all the people saying rotor riot is selling out; they are a business, they are here to sell products. Why would they come on RUclips and say that a product they sell is bad? The problem is that some of us remember when rotor riot was idea and not a brand. Accept rotor riot for who they are. They are a company that sells products and they utilize RUclips to sell said products.
The only people that get mad about someone making good money doing something cool that they love are kids. Once you've been working a 9-to-5 for a decade, you'll thinking rotoriot plugging products is the coolest thing on the planet, and you'll wish you could do it too.
Thats more about people, and how they acting when get power of money and influence. Thats not a video about props and cons of drone and whole system, thats video saying everything good even if thats bad thing. And dont take me wrong, i was love RR and all main pilots, sut they chanels and so one, but thats what RR are doying from last time it's just trying to sell you piece of shit saying thats amazing! Vanny was doying a video about his drone, and no separate parts was mention on description, even he mention it few times. We test byfrost system, and like allways have a screen and PC chair on pickup. Look on TBS and how they are acting.
Your mom rocks! So awesome to see yall flying together. I hate to admit it, but the DJI FPV drone looks really appealing. 👍🏼 This was a GREAT video! Watching “Mama Bubby” fly the DJI FPV Potato Drone with relative ease convinced me to con my wife and daughter to fly. It did NOT work out all that well… it ended up at the bottom of a nearby lake. I gave the Mavic-3 and Mini 3 Pro a shot with the same terrified gals. Zero luck with the RC-Pro or the included RCN1 controller. When the Avata was released, I figured I’d give it a shot with the motion controller and with the Controller 2 radio. They still did not enjoy the experience.. Surprisingly enough, the Motion 2 “Marital Aid” did a phenomenal job at getting novice pilots flying great in recent time. The DJI Avata is somewhat indestructible. My Avata has hit numerous trees and buildings with only a rare prop replacement being required. On the other hand, the DJI FPV Drone is VERY FRAGILE! The repair parts are difficult to come by and the costs are quite high as to be expected. Thanks for a great video - As always!
Josh Bardwell said he left the stick centering springs as is so to have proper RTH and alt hold. If you have a free (no centering spring action) throttle stick, then you need to remember to manually, physically center throttle to get alt hold and other failsafe features.
Of you get to that button in time yea....if not then what? I think this will result in a lot of people sending in broken quads....I suspect that DJI knows they will be making a ton with the repair service
@@flyineyeaerialfpv5592 Tbf, they would make more money if they didn't have that button at all. Then every drone would need to be repaired probably first flight out. They don't make money by adding assists. Not to say that they aren't gonna rake in a lot of cash with this one.
Alright shawn now it's time to tear it apart and put everything on a carbon frame. And I wanna see what y'all can do with the motion controller. Also It would be fun to have a motion controller work like that with our quads too. Seem like it would be fun for a novelty fun fly

Don't get me wrong I have analog and I love it also absolutely but the way we as humans advance technology is making and designing new and improve products like this.
I mean it looks pretty cool no reason to be such a hater. And I kinda wanna see one smashed into a wall or tree full send. If they don’t finish the livestream without wrecking the kwad full speed I’ll be disappointed in rotor riot.
My big question as a beginner would be if you're able to use the new controller an googles combo with the "clasic" dji Air unit. For example can I buy the DJI fpv Drone and build a custom one later. Because sadly at the moment the RR HD-1 set is more expensive than the dji one.
So what’s the verdict on the V2 controller? Can it work with current air units? Will it ever be updated to work with current air units? I sold my V1 controller!!! Should I just buy another or wait for an update?
This drone is actually a bad idea for learning acro, get a cheap 3in with dji to learn on, this one will be destroyed in seconds and it won't be easy to fix it.
That's actually a good idea. But I cant find a good kit. Because if you buy the DJI stuff separately its nearly as expensiv as for example the HD-1 set by RR.
@@m.j.2774 Buy seperate and learn bud. If you want a real fpv quad you still need to learn because this ain't it. Even the pros crash, ALOT, and this plastic toy will break every single time. Only real carbon kwads can take the abuse. If you wanna learn acro, this thing ain't it.
@@10fantic Yes I already thought about buying the HD-1 set. Because if buy the DJI goggles, radio and flightunit as a pack. It cost already round about 900$. The HD-01 starter kit is "only" 1,5k. @@flyineyeaerialfpv5592 DJI gave these guys 2 drones each for free NO STRINGS ATTACHED. you have to understand the Chinese have a completely different view of advertising. It correlates to the way they dont see intellectual property theft as theft. If you can take an existing idea and improve upon it, then by all means go ahead. Even name it brand it and logo it the exact same so you already have advertising.
I love the r.r. crew they're the reason I got into FPV...Very beginner friendly type approach so this should sell well for them is much as true die hard FPV pilots they are they are doing what they can to be nice about the whole idea...DJIs name is on it so of course it's gonna do well regardless if it's very breakable or what. People with a good but of money really don't care I suppose they just wanna say they have the new drone and show it to friends or whatever. And that's fine I'm not hating or gate keeping FPV like I've read in lots of comments. I just won't be buying this EVER....Had I not started FPV yet and was getting into it today...I would still go the traditional way with a carbon fiber frame and build a solid non breaking crashable FPV drone WITH TURTLE MODE..Reason this doesn't have Turtle mode is because DJI knows its breaking on the first crash at more than 25 mph especially with the weight of that big 6s smart battery....Its like saying walking through broken glass with bare feet and don't get cut lol....1 crash for 1500.00 is an expensive crash...And with no availability on common replacement parts. Hmmmm what's DJI up to here??
So, do the goggles and controller work with a DJI air unit if I want to move to traditional FPV quads but want to keep using the DJI goggles? This would be ideal for beginners to move into traditional freestyle/racing quads.

Total hype 😂😂
One of the first vids ive seen reviewing the DJI said it was crap.. yet all the other reviews people love it!.
You guys are awesome. I just got this drone, I'm a total beginner. This is my first drone. Thanks for the review and tips. If you both like it, I know I made a good call!
Wow, so many reviews out about this New DJI drone by my favorite FPV pilots, you the man!
Sounds awesome. How do i set up a panic switch?
@@look2christ777 when something goes bad just switch your drone into Angle mode and it will self right and fix itself but it WILL NOT keep your drone stable like the DJI does. It will keep your drone from going upside down but it can and will still go all other direction including up and down but it is useful to save it from smashing Into the ground and breaking it more.
True, but duhh. No hate tho.
You guys being so excited by this FPV when first trying it was very fun to see
As an avid FPV flyer, this has its pros and cons. The latency can have a problem for courses that require pinpoint accuracy as well as maximum speed, but damn that clarity is something that you've really got to see!
Courses? This simply isn't a race drone, nor a Freestyle drone it was never advertised as one. No idea why people just don't "Get it"
How is it a good trainer if it eliminates half the controls
I have the same question. It has either training wheels on or off. No in between or even on-screen tutorials and lessons. Sims have that at least.
It trains you to buy only DJI gear.
@@AndyPorter79 it does have a sim, but on ground experience is way different than a sim obviously
A really fun video to watch. Your excitement is contagious...
Ok I’m totally stealing the belly light idea for my next build. Thanks DJI
Not for CART SUBTOTAL:USD $1,817
Geez I got my DJI Inspire 2 for a bit more than that
3 years later, I just got mine off Amazon for 750
How bad would you say the fact that the propellers are visible on some of your videos? If you have to crop Constantly it's kind of a real deal breaker for a cinematic quad according to me
Good question - Specially since it's only a 12 MP Camera.
@@A_Haunted_Pancake it looks like it's only with very low tilt so we just have to rip it! 😜
This is addressed in many other RUclips videos. The props are never in the final product.
Awesome guys!!
Amazing review guys, this genuinely was SUPER helpful. Great job.
Man u guys are awesome. Just ordered my DJI FPV Combo and cannot wait to get started. First drone so wish me luck haha
I think I'm gonna buy myself one. I have quite a few analog rigs of all different sizes. However I recently bought a dji mini 2 for a beach vacation and was blown away by the occusync. I'm gonna go for the combo mainly for the goggles but I'm quite impressed by the drone itself.
Bubby’s mom is awesome. So funny and excited. Lol
I'm glad it was received that way... it was a lot of silly screaming. Haha! But Bubby posted a training video with me on his channel and it was much more calm. Still so much fun! My favorite is the BRoll end clip with my crashes 😂

Amazing....Very very Softly & Smooth. So Nice for footage FPV
That's the V2 Goggle right?
That was enjoyable! You guys looked like you had fun...which is the entire point! Thanks!
Exactly, they still make cool videos just their product focus includes their own plugs now, as it should.
The only people that get mad about someone making good money doing something cool that they love are kids. Once you've been working a 9-to-5 for a decade, you'll thinking rotoriot plugging products is the coolest thing on the planet, and you'll wish you could do it too.
@@geometerfpv2804 i agree, jealousy is a big factor for all the rotor riot/dji hate
Rotor riot ended for me after the original band is gone. Kabab s review is the best one out for now
Thats more about people, and how they acting when get power of money and influence.
Bring it out to this 1700 acre off-road park in ky and really put that thing to the test!
Can't fly it anywhere else!
Your mom rocks! So awesome to see yall flying together. I hate to admit it, but the DJI FPV drone looks really appealing. I'm surprised that more companies like Skydio or Parrot haven't come out with FPV combo kits like that. Kits that are kind of a hybrid between GPS and Acro with both sets of features. That will bring alot of new people into our hobby. Great video as always fellas!
Awww! Thank you! I have been having so much fun with it! I have a couple of fun edits on my channel now. It's an AWESOME drone to have, beginner or not.
@@FPVMama You're very much welcome. Thanks for the reply. I'll check out your channel tonight. I didn't realize you had one until just now. Lol 🤘😉
@@tb303wpf1 oh it's totally a new thing.... only because of this drone and some friends asking me to post. My channel was never intended to be me flying! Hahaha! I had set it up to be a place for Bubby's B-Roll of things I liked that he would never put on his channel. That's why the only other thing on there is one of his rescue videos. LOL
Great video! Mine arrives on Friday. Adding it to my Mavic Mini 2. Awesome tips on transitioning!
Awesome awesome review guys.....I definitely want this drone 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Answered all my questions. Thanks so much guys
Best review, it is certainly a game changer when the Captain says it is really good.
Josh Bardwell said he left the stick centering springs as is so to have proper RTH and alt hold. If you have a free (no centering spring action) throttle stick, then you need to remember to manually, physically center throttle to get alt hold and other failsafe features.
So you could be flying acro and if you mess up you can use the e-brake stability mode, that's fantastic!
It works but if you crash right after hitting the brake button it's now switched to normal mode and there's no good quick way to disarm.
I love that you can use the switch as a panic switch. Like planes.. 👍
Oh goodness now I want one. This looks fabulous.
Nice video! Awsome fpv drone. Love it!
Alright shawn now it's time to tear it apart and put everything on a carbon frame. And I wanna see what y'all can do with the motion controller. Also It would be fun to have a motion controller work like that with our quads too. Seem like it would be fun for a novelty fun fly
as always you show us more than others, spot light, changing colors, and the discussions you have with the group. Great job top all and thanks.
FINALLY !!! you guysss. was waiting for one of your videos to come out regarding this.
You guys inspired me to get into FPV! Just ordered the DJI FPV so I can learn. We’ll see how it goes 😬🤞
Any updates?
Watching Bubby's mom scream with happiness was the wholsemne never knew I needed...
I feel like were gonna see custom carbon frames to mount the dji components too. Also cam tilt is sick, I've been wanting to build a quad with this/put the servo on a slider and control during flight for 'cine' shots. Feel free to try it.. I still need to learn fusion 360 and get going on some of these projects.
People hatin'. Admit it, it's an awesome piece of tech. They killed it. All the different modes and assists, plus insta-braking, they did a good job with the flight control. Cheers to them.
Awesome review and different perspectives were great. Keep up the great work and contents.

28:20 LOL . what about the hand controller? cool to see what the pros think of it
I'm glad you shown that the LEDs are able to be change to users preference. I don't know why dji didn't use that as part of marketing. That's a huge thing for me as well so it sets your drone apart from others that might be around.great video 📸

I guess The vanny CL frame is better than this dji fpv drone, I believe in custom build.
It is very expensve and FRAGILE, and it has performance like the drones on the beggining of the hobby!
mamafpv is ripping!
Hahaha! It was soooooo fun to weave through the trees! There's more on Bubby's channel 🥰
To learn to fly full acro you have to crash. There's no way around it. Your going to crash. So how is this a good choice for begginners when it breaks on the first crash
LMFAO
@Jz Eat They want you to buy another one when you crash.
I fly using a sim. And for proximity I'm going to buy another drone
I hear the air force tells their fighter pilots the same thing: here’s an F15 but in order to learn to dogfight you’re gonna crash a few of these…. Actually not. They put you on a sim.

Great review the first FPV Freestyler that hasn't bashed it! Bravo. It surely is not going to replace a freestyle drone do to weight and durability but it sure has it's uses. I like mine.
This is the review that this drone needed. Great stuff guys!
Watch JB's review. Very honest.
This is absolutely the best DJI FPV review I’ve seen so far. I really appreciate the different perspectives. WOW! I can tell you I am having the greatest time with it. You can watch Bubby's full video of him training me on his channel. We had a lot of fun. My favorite is the crash bloopers at the end
Personally I welcome all in this hobby ! This is cool and remember guys DJI gave us digital FPV . I started with digital and love it! Don't get me wrong I have analog and I love it also absolutely but the way we as humans advance technology is making and designing new and improve products like this.
Good sentiment, I agree.

My big question as a beginner would be if you're able to use the new controller an googles combo with the "clasic" dji Air unit.
For example can I buy the DJI fpv Drone and build a custom one later. Because sadly at the moment the RR HD-1 set is more expensive than the dji one.
Yes, you can use the goggles with the air unit. Not sure about the controller.
@@m.j.2774 buy them separately and it will still be more affordable than this plastic piece
That's actually quite hard to beat.
Don't get me wrong. I would love to find a cheaper way to start Flying. I just couldn't find one.
@@10fantic I wish I could just buy this bundle when i started FPV, since money is not an issue for some of us.
I've been flying a review unit around for a couple weeks and I seriously love it (A LOT). Getting into it I didn't think I would, but it's pretty sweet. Now I have to buy one.
Good luck fixing it
Just pay a bit more for DJI care and fixing any crashes are covered for up to 2 years
You'll get sick of the one or two spots that dji deigns to allow you to fly at.
Vanover: The latency is going to be a big problem.
Two seconds later
" This could be my everyday quad!"
And he said it doesn't fly the best then says it flies great literally 2 min later...They are just doing and saying what DJI kinda wants them to
@@flyineyeaerialfpv5592 DJI gave these guys 2 drones each for free NO STRINGS ATTACHED. you have to understand the Chinese have a completely different view of advertising. It correlates to the way they dont see intellectual property theft as theft. If you can take an existing idea and improve upon it, then by all means go ahead. Even name it brand it and logo it the exact same so you already have advertising.
@@Stewpkiddable I totally agree Jake
@@flyineyeaerialfpv5592 The DJI FPV has turtle mode
So, do the goggles and controller work with a DJI air unit if I want to move to traditional FPV quads but want to keep using the DJI goggles? This would be ideal for beginners to move into traditional freestyle/racing quads.
The goggles do, not sure about the controller.
Awesome I can not wait to get my dji fpv.
