- DJI may have made the best beginner drone. While it's capable of Freestyle and Cinematic flying, I think its best purpose is getting new pilots in the air!

What does that mean? i said the same thing when i got on my sportsbike for the first and it was way more than 1,200 dollars and my life could be at risk as well. You gotta be confident why be nervous just because something is expensive you can always make more that's why people have jobs

Yes , yes , and yes. I had no idea about this fpv world, fall in love watching this videos. Got mi DJI as mi first drone ever , spend 15 hours in velocidrone and couple more in the built in sim. A week later I’m flying in acro mode … thx guys !!

You can tell Ashley is a true pilot at heart because she went right for the trench run under the covered walkway.
I wish everyone would stop pushing the "beginner drone" narrative. This is way too expensive and fragile of a drone for a first time FPV pilots.

Yes I agree I’ve only started my fpv journey I’ve crash at least 7 times I can say if I tried to fly this it would be a waste of money and time getting it fixed it’s not fun for the money over €1,300 to me who has spend under €150 I’m having more fun learning about the mechanics of it

I fly real FPV drones and DJI camera drones and I gotta say is it really that expensive for what you get? The goggles are half the cost and you want those anyway if you're getting into FPV. A good 5" HD BNF with goggles, controller, charger, GoPro, and batteries is $1300 or more. I myself prefer more traditional FPV drones but I can see why certain people would want the more polished but limited package.

After 3 months of flying that with 2 crashes and 1 broken arm, I finally just purchased my 1st 5" quad.. I actually bought your latest syliner which I absolutely love.. Think about how drastically different Ashley's previous experiences have been compared to this. It's night and day.

I want to say a lot of people are missing one advantage to this drone. People like myself that have been in the air for about 2-3 years but have kids/family/work and can't keep up on always updating firmware and making sure everything is in sync to fly "perfect". This drone basically will fly right out of the box without much effort with software. One of the hardest components with FPV (besides the build) is downloading the software and setting it up (that's why I liked Flightone). This provides someone people who can only fly for a couple of hours a month... a smooth way to get in the air and toss it into acro mode and zip it for a few minutes (and remember the glory days). I'm hoping in time they can improve acro mode and settings to be tweaked to remove propwash, rates, and other settings. It's quite obvious watching your videos for so many years that this drone has some weight to thrust issues since you tosses it and couldn't stabilize the drone smoothly coming out. But those who aren't silky smooth like you, won't care. That's a skill that most people won't have even if they practiced weekly for a few hours.

Wouldn't it be cool if the gimbal can be controlled by your GOGGLES? Tilt your head up to move the gimbal up and so on. Less controls to manage.
The gimbal's not supposed to move while you're flying in Acro mate. That's not something you'd want to happen.
Believe it or not. Mavic Pro + DJI Goggles (not DJI FPV Goggles) has that feature. Speaking of experience. Also it's where a DJI FPV gimbal controller gets the idea from. :)

Just bought and collected mine yesterday here in Papua New Guinea! Will be playing in DJI Virtual Flight for a few days to really practice as much as possible... didn’t think it was so easy with just touch controls on iPhone... but it’s a fun app! :) Kinda nervous about that pro level M-mode!! Great video! 140km/hr is crazy!! Hope my wife will be as natural a pilot as Ashley, then she won’t be as pissed about me dropping $2100 AUD on it! :P

I think you nailed it with who this drone is for drew! I’ve flown Fpv for 5years now and I think I’d just smash it to bits if I had one, but if I was just starting Fpv it would be ideal. It’s nice to see Ashleigh in a video again, hope you both are well

This is a better video than the one you guys did for Rotor Riot as this one is a little more realistic and down to earth. I appreciate the alternate look. One that's not quite so much a commercial. I won't be buying one, but that doesn't mean there isn't a market for such a quad. It'll be interesting to see what develops from this.

No fear. @ 6:45 she's "not nervous" because she doesn't give a rip if she crashes... her crashes are your problem. :) I just wonder about this being a "beginner" drone because it breaks so easily and if you break an arm you're done for a few weeks. My business partner fixed a broken arm on his iFlight Titan in 5 minutes just holding it in his hands and didn't even remove the bottom plate. He just pushed the arm through.

Geofence will definitely ruin th experience. Places where I want to fly that I used to fly that were legal aren't accessible without jumping hoopswhere live.

Im never going to own one of those. A typical mini quad has a heck of a crap ton more acceleration than the DJI.
Safety at the expense of maneuverability. Its safer for a new pilot but over-bloated for someone whose already used to full acro mode. It definitely has its' place as a trainer drone and may even be good for spec racing in full manual mode... We'll see how popular this becomes. I think they should stick to the cinema side of things. They've done so well in that arena. If this were my drone, I'd be sending it back to Djisus after each session. (If you're not crashing sometimes, then you'll never imorove). Soldering can be practiced and learned in less than a week. You may as well learn to solder and build your own durable, light, easy to repair, less expensive and more powerful (real) drone.
I feel like there will be aftermarket spare parts available for this drone, just give it time...great show

Right now I'm leaning towards dji rather than builds, my ledrib skylite won't even arm out the box and can't get any assistance thru email. Dji called me to let me know they are sending me another drone after I showed them a picture of a melted glob and told them I was flying full acro over fire and lost signal.

I said fuck it and bought the setup. I haven't flown much for a couple years but I really love the idea of a hybrid quad. I've watched a lot of videos from FPV channels to get a better sense of the capabilities and everyone seems like they hate to endorse it. The tech behind this is really friggin' cool and the thought that I can upgrade my old analog setup to digital with the equipment I'll get from this is very intriguing.

Maybe a *bit* quick moving the G/F from safe normal mode straight to sport after one brief flight. Let her gain confidence with the `training wheels` for a month or two. Very experienced fpv guys forget that even basic flying is challenging for a new pilot.
I'm so proud I brought my gf to fly a real fpv drone, not like this but I can appreciate that this "thing" was able to bring the hobby to someone that had some preservations before because of all the barriers that are removed with the thing.

I think this is a good drone for casual flight and content creation. Someone may have a mavic but want to FPV with this you do not have to be invested with your life into the hobby. I don’t think this drone will ever be practical for getting the absolutely crazy footage you can with standard FPV drones but like just for content creation stuff I mean there’s really no better solution for moderate flying. If your goal is to get big swoopy shots this is much easier and safer for a mavic flyer

As a long-time FPV pilot, is it wrong to want this consumer thing? (For fun immersive long-distance cruising) So I built my first quad back in the ZMR-250 CC3D/OpenPilot days, but mostly fly whoops now. As boring as my old Mavic is, I really appreciate it's HD feed, long-distance, long endurance, GPS RTH, easy of use, and how I didn't have to spend so much bench time soldering, programming, troubleshooting. Yeah, this kit is expensive, but is it really? The total parts cost for building a similar quad would likely be similar...

I disliked this drone until I saw this video. Being able to teach someone is important and this makes it that much easier, especially for someone teaching themselves.
But honestly I would like to replace all the plastic with carbon fiber... would make it more crash friendly.. :D

Good product but not for me. Instead of this jack of all trades - master of none I bought two drones, a FIMI X8SE for cinematic and a DIY freestyle drone (analog video, Crossfire). They have cost me less (especially in repairs) than the DJI FPV drone and perform better. Well, I also paid in time to learn a lot but that was a fun journey to me. I am not so optimistic about what kind of people the DJI drone will attract to the hobby. I suppose it will mostly be people who think paying a 4-digit number for an "FPV" product will automatically enable them to make videos like Johnny FPV while the drone takes care of not crashing. Also, 160$ for a battery? That's what I paid for my 10 CNHL lipos.
She did awesome. Best review of the DJI drone I've seen so far. Mostly because you had someone fly it that does not fly drones at all. And she did better with it than I've seen anybody do with our normal fpv drones on their first day or week for that matter. Good job to the both of you.

Congrats, your video was the final push for me to purchase this drone, I have 6 GPS Drones, this will be the first FPV, I've flown the Mavic 2 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro ver 2 with the DJI Googles RE, so hopefully, the FPV will not be too much different, I am now a new subscriber to your channel
A big part of why I started FPV is because of the look of an FPV drone, it looks rad, industrial, customizable, and the DJI looks horrible if i'm being honest xD

Old video but I honestly think the DJI FPV drone is way more cinematic than any home built DYI fpv drone could possibly ever be. But that's just my opinion. Can it fly like a racing FPV drone nope but it's not really what I think DJI had in mind for this drone . For what it is the DJI FPV drone is in its own category of drones and I think that's a good thing..

I like how you knew instantly that this new product wasn't for you and tried to find someone who would fit better with it to fly and help you figure out how to review the product and assess its merits and place in the fpv ecosphere. The experience did turn her on to drones more. Despite not having the experience to say tons about the drone she does have the presence to react honestly and that reaction communicates a perspective that is a flip-side to the insider pro doing his 300th review.

im living near to the airport, so no chance to fly around the house. i live in switzerland, where any drone flying is under an agreement - its forbidden to fly higher than 150m. its forbidden to fly with the goggles on , except there is a second person who has eye contact with the drone...well in general its forbidden to fly without eyecontact to the drone.. so my question, does is still worth to buy a drone here in switzerland?
