It wouldn't take much to charge your bike off the solar on your roof. I do it with my e-bike at the moment. So I wouldn't worry about infrastructure. Why would you charge at a station? You just wouldn't unless touring.
Battery tech is good enough at the moment, and will only get better and hopefully cheaper. Plenty of small start ups making electric motorcycles, a few here in Australia. Savic, Evoke, Fonz. Not sure anything that suits me, but would be great for commuting.
I test rode the Zero before they left Australia. Was heaps of fun. But I know you love your gear shifting Mr TPR :) So I'm sure you'll always have an ICE motorcycle in your garage. You wont need to give it up.

    Hello.
In Japan, there is almost no infrastructure for charging electric vehicles. There is no stand that can charge the EV bike when the battery level is low.
Information about EV bikes in Japan.
    ---
EVs are mainly business vehicles for corporations.
Regarding electric motorcycles (EVs) of major manufacturers, Honda is actively promoting the conversion of business scooters to EVs for corporations. On the other hand, Yamaha, which has the only EV Evino available to the general public, seems to be accelerating EV development through repeated demonstration experiments. In addition, Kawasaki has also announced its entry into the EV domain, and we are waiting for models to be introduced in the personal/fan domain.
The E01, Yamaha's first two-class moped class EV in Japan, has been launched on the market as a demonstration test model at a low price. The purpose is to collect user usage status and vehicle information such as distance traveled and sections traveled on 3G or LTE lines, and use it for future EV model development. The output is 8.1 kW (about 11 ps), demonstrating acceleration performance equal to or better than NMAX. Equipped with three types of driving modes and traction control, it also has a regenerative brake that reproduces the feeling of engine braking and a reverse function that is convenient for handling.
The Honda Benly e: series is sold/leased to corporations as well as the electric three-wheeler Gyro e:. There are e:I (rated output 580W/load 30kg) and e:II (rated output 980W/load 60kg), which are classified as 1st class moped and ``Pro'' equipped with basket/large carrier/knuckle guard for each. It is lined up.
The Yamaha Ebino is currently the only electric motorcycle available for general purchase from a Japanese manufacturer. It can be charged in about 3 hours with household 100V (the mileage is 29km on one charge), and it is also equipped with a boost function that temporarily increases power when driving on hills or accelerating. It weighs 68kg and is light.
The 2023 model has a battery capacity of 12.2Ah, which is 1.2 times that of the previous model, and the mileage per charge has increased from 29km to 32km.

Like The Silver Fox Travels says Kawasaki are developing hydrogen powered bikes, which is a new way of skirting round the obvious but deadly solution? In Scotland we're working on Rain power. A funnel under the seat collects the rain as it puddles around the riders nuptials filling the tank under the seat. A clever little electrolysis device splits the water into its two gas components, hydrogen and oxygen before being fed to the engine.
There are two massive advantages to this, 1) you never need to stop to fill up again ( as long as you're in Scotland) 2) The only emissions are water vapour which goes up into the atmosphere eventually falling back down as fuel ( rain). The only disadvantage is that a couple of people have come up with this or similar methods of using water as fuel and it led to their early unexplained loss of life?
The solutions are out there, only the truth is they don't want us to have free travel. Instead human ant farms like "The Line" are planned, the outside world will be for the elite only 😔

We're even making the bikes out of aluminium and magnesium alloys, they literally melt after a few years. I've seen articles about all of the big four making or planning electric bikes. They seem mainly to be the equivalent of very small bikes, though Kawasaki have shown their EV version that's supposed to be equivalent to a 650. I suspect they want to get as much out of the petrol engine development they've already invested in.
As yet, I've not seen a single electric bike that does what I need. Hopefully the tech will appear before we are forced to go electric. Right now, it doesn't seem possible due to weight restrictions. Even cars with sensible ranges are getting stupidly heavy (like the new three tonne Jaguar).

Insightful question. With the big electric push (more socially than logistically at this stage), great enjoyable electric motorbikes should be a much easier achievement than electric cars but there's elements missing, important elements - tactile and interactive enjoyment is an important one and manufacturers seem tone-deaf at this to the moment. There's an Australian electric motorbike being made, it looks interesting and I like the design, but I can only imagine someone at some stage is going to find that magic in the different system - but I think it hasn't been done yet. They might be enjoyable, but they're not attractive enough yet clearly because they're not attracting people and that's not attracting the market to make and sell them. I have seen very few electric motorbikes on the road, never seen one from a major manufacturer. The fully electric vehicle will, I believe, have a much shorter lifespan than the internal combustion engine. Already hydrogen is looking like the preferred option as far as fuel is concerned, this in turn will help elongate the life of petrol and diesel engines as there is already hydrogen injection kits that can drastically reduce emissions, the reason behind alternative fuels in the first place. Some firms are jumping straight to Hydrogen as the way forward, one such is JCB, who are only 15 miles from here, they have been running evaluation tests on hydrogen vehicles for over 2 years now, simply because batteries for their construction equipment would weigh several tonnes. Also I have been shocked by the lack of range of electric motorbikes, for instance we have now done 16000+miles in our all wheel drive electric Mustang, which has the same performance as my Deauville, the range during hot weather has been as high as 345 miles, very handy. Some motorbikes range are less than 100 miles, so only suitable for tootling around town. Like you I noted the lack of mention of electric power when seeing all the main makers are bringing out a vast array of petrol bikes for 2023. Hydrogen fuel cell will be the thing for bikes rather than pure electric, well if like me you like to ride hundreds of miles in a day it will. The time I have left though it will still be a shed full of petrol power for me. Ride safe.

We are been pushed towards E/ Motorbikes and cars ect but is this the solution? It's an option among quite a few out there but electric powered products come at such an environmental cost and then to add to that we will have so much more sucking off an already failing and outdated electrical grid that is grossly over priced to provide supply. And by the time you cost in all of the charge up time in Kw hours over the life of the batteries for around in reality 4 to 5 years at max then the cost of replacements if they don't become obsolete first then its all a big waste. Governments and corporations are pushing this without a real answer to replacements to fuel and it is coming at a large cost to the consumers for short term products that will go through years of evolution before a long term standard like fuel is now to all.

Even with all that said, my bike is now 5 years old. I've replaced the batteries for a thousand dollars......BUT....I've saved over five thousand in fuel...So....4 thousand saved. The batteries get rebuilt and resold. The power required to charge is less than a 60 watt light bulb, so the overloading grid is total misinformation. Gas pumps use electricity...all day every day, using more energy than a charger. These stories we hear are mostly bullshit.
