Always get that mental drum roll when I start the engine after a timing belt change

Nice work Matt. A certain level of concern is a good thing, not bad. You understand the ramifications of oversight and that apprehension keeps you diligent. Cheers 👍

Luckily I haven't had a problem when starting the engine, cheers Matt

You should always drop the oil pan and change the wet belt for the oil pump and clean the oil pick up when doing the timing on these engines becouse they like to rip the wet belt and engine goes to scrap yard, good job for the rest 😉

Matt do you remove the silica pouch from expansion tank when working on these vag platform cars.

No I don't remove the bag if it has one, I just put in the coolant for the the car. Cheers Matt

I'm totally with you when it comes to being nerveaus before starting the engine. I usually crank it a few times with just the starter motor. And this engine is really a "bit of a squeeze". Compliments for not swearing at the designers...
What's the torque on the crank bolt? I remember the issues with it coming loose on VWs AAZ engines. And that one went with some 200 Nm + nut lock if I remember correctly.

      Thanks the torque is 180Nm + 135,Deg. It's a tight bolt
