I have this transmission in my 19 zo6. It has been performed perfectly no issues whatsoever.
Is this the same 8 speed that breaks in everyone’s trucks?
Lift Heavy yes they are junk
I've had a truck with the 8 speed for 2 years no problems. Smoother than my 6-speed was. They reformulated Dexron HP and it fixed the TCC shudder. The first couple years of the 8L90 were the ones with problems that had to have design revisions to address. It's not like the 6L80 or 4L60 had real great starts. In the early years of the 6L80, everyone said "is that the same 6 speed that breaks in everyone's truck".

How much do I need to smash the transmission tunnel in a G body or S10 lol
That would be a fun project, Id say it wouldn't take much, Maybe more towards the rear of the tunnel for extra height.
Now thats a question
you will come back about 4" from fire wall and start raising and widening the tunnel. It will need to be 3" taller and 2" wider from stock. 79 Malibu gen 5 LT1 -8 speed
