We do foster care through a private agency here in Ohio and I am glad that we went that route. While it does mean extra people to contact and who need to stop out and visit each month, they have been so helpful! And the 24 hour on call number gives me so much peace, knowing that I could get ahold of anyone at any time.
I would start by reaching out to some private agencies and seeing if you would have to start from scratch or not! Sometimes they can accept your trainings but sometimes they cannot. I think it’s worth asking a few agencies!
Going with a private agency is going to be the expensive way to go, correct? Even if you adopt from the foster care system (an older child), it's going to be a hefty bill. Is that right? We've been wanting to adopt for many years but couldn't afford the private option, so the least expensive option is still going through the state, do I have that right? I love your videos! You have been SUCH a help. THANK YOU!!!
Typically going with the state is free. However, in some states even private agencies are free! Private agency fees for foster care adoption typically top out around 7,000-8,000. Our fees were $5,000. However, you also have to realize there are adoption subsidies that you will get (as well as an adoption tax credit) that will offset some of those expenses 😊

Great message. Thank you. The truth.
Love this video, thanks! I’m inspired now to research!
Thank you!!! 😊 How do we switch to a private agency if we're already approved at a county agency? We're experiencing some issues you described.
