Fixing Tacoma Brake Lights Stuck ON

- Sup guys, welcome back to the channel! Hope you guys had a Happy Thanksgiving weekend! This past weekend I ran into this issue with my truck having my brake light stuck on, but got it fixed temporarily and finally putting a real fix on it haha. If you guys have this problem or run in to it in the future, I hope this helps!

Couldn’t figure this out for weeks! Had to disconnect the negative on the battery everywhere I went!! Killed my battery one day and didn’t realize until the new one that the lights were stuck on. Just fixed it in 2 mins with this video. Thank you!

This video was super helpful. I literally disconnected my battery because I had no clue how to turn off the brake light any other way.
Nowadays it takes forever just to get an appointment with a service shop, because of all the backlog of motorists who postponed service during the pandemic. It's unsafe to drive around with your brake light on, not to mention the drain on the battery.

Thank you for the video , I had the same problem with my Taco , green piece broke and I was clueless , my first thought was RUclips and your video was on top of the list.
Where would we be without RUclips ? Thank you for this video ! My brake light was stuck on, figured it was this mechanism as something similar happened with my motorcycle (much easier to reach than under the dash and between foot pedals😳). I discovered the green pieces after watching your video. For now I used the two nickels taped together solution suggested by linabeckford5771. Had to reconnect the battery, start the truck so I could press the pedal far enough. Works great, those nickels ain’t goin anywhere. I will keep a 10mm crescent wrench in the truck just in case I have to disconnect the battery again…😉 For now, your reward is just my subscribing to your channel. Hope that’s ok. I have this problem RIGHT NOW and this video is a God Send. I don't know if it's the same issue, but I hope it is. I can't afford to put the truck in the shop. I can't afford to have a dead battery either.

I used one nut and bolt from ace hard ware cost me 30cents. Forever solid fix on my Fj cruiser brake pedal lol hopefully the metal bolt making contact on the plastic button on brake switch no break anything lol
Oh mean, that’s a smart fix too! That way should last forever and won’t slip out like my washer and electric tape fix haha!

Poke a hole through the washers/tape. The tit on the brake cylinder will hold the washers in place.

The part cost less than $3 at your local Toyota dealership. The hardest thing is lining up the rubber part.
Hey Good Video-Thanks-I will replace mine in my 2001 Tacoma Toyota OEM Part # 90541-06036-Cost $1.59 at the Local Orlando Toyota-Cost over $5.00 via Ebay/Amazon.
Thanks ,just bought the ppart to fix ours 1.84 at the toyota dealer . Parts stores didn't carry it .
