To be honest I am also not a big fan of top 14 up until when Siya joined Racing. Maybe top 14 need to market the tournament more....I know about Urc, Premiership, super rugby and the Japanese league which I follow diligently. For French rugby we only interect at HCC or EPCR.
Even the super rugby I am having trouble watching it lately....we got the final coming up this weekend hope the blues carry it....I only support the Blues because of Telea....being a winger myself in my playing days I love the guy.

As a Clermont fan, I am really happy with quite a few of our young players making the squad! Hopefully they get to play, especially Jauneau, since both Le Garrec and Dupont will be away due to injury and the olympics respectively and he is a madly talented player.
Jauneau had some truly amazing games this season, he has the "full package" of the modern scrum half, very "Duponesque", a permanent danger for the opponents. Great asset for ASM to build a project over several seasons. That said I feel that it would be fair that Couilloud comes as a leader and captain for this young french squad. He was huge for Lyon and helped a lot to save their ass, he is the best try scorer of the Top 14 in a team that finished 12th. He showed an incredible resilience and a great leadership and I would argue that he is better than Lucu. Serein was a bit disappointing over the last game but we also know that he can walk over the water when he is inspired. It is incredible that we have so many top quality scrum half right now. And there is another one who could have been here if he was not the shadow of Dupont: Paul Graou. He needs to become more consistent but he clearly improved substantially this season. He is getting there.
You should have wait to make the video because the team will be updated after the semi-final with the players from the loosers of the semi-final. And the team will increase to 42 players
Nouchi was France u20 captain last year WC tournament, jauneau at 9, Atissogbe at wing etc. Joseph won 2 u20 WCs ( one with NTamack, Carbonel,Gros , etc. Really want to see Frisch and Jurand

Probably a lot more, Galthié announced he would bring a 42 men squad. It makes sense if you look at how close the games are, almost 3 games in a week there's going to be a lot of rotations. So i'm not sure we can expect à lot in terms of results, it's all about building depth. If you don't know Nouchy, Auradou and Jauneau, just take a look at last year u20's WC. Everyone was talking about Tuilagi because his name was already famous and he was an easy angle to bash the "french poaching players". Truth is Posolo is going to be great but those 3 were much more important in the way the french youngsters tore that WC apart than Tuilagi was. Nouchi is like a young ollivon probably even a bit better than ollivon used to be, Jauneau is a smaller version of dupont and Auradou may be a bit skinny for test level for the moment but he has worked all year with Sam Whitelock and looked pretty good and Beria is dynamite as a losehead prop. I just hope Jordan Joseph will finally come of age. He was so impressive, so young ( think he might have beeb 17 when he lifted his 1st u20's WC) , the expectations may have been à lot to carry on his young shoulders. Kind of like Bamba, i really hope he can be injury free for some time à become a serious option on the right side of the scrum. Frankly i'd be happy with a win but don't care too much, i want to see them give their best
Unless you change the length of the top 14, the summer tests will ressemble this list. It's about protecting "star" players and the usual suspects. Upside : testing a whole lot of guys. Downside : when touring NZ or SA don't except a fair fight, no real stars hence a lack of expectations in order to sell tickets... As for Argentina the side seems too green to win the series. Good job Mark getting around all of this guys that you are unfamiliar with. Grettings from France.
Yeah man it's understandable aye. Argentina will be an interesting prospect given they've got a new coach. And thanks man yeah I tried to read up a bit on all of these new guys. I look forward to seeing them in action
Some players from the losing Top14 semi-finals teams will be included next week, so the list could see some substantial changes.
There will be another unofficial test match/common training with Romania next saturday I think.

As an Argentinian i must say, We better trash this french squad... It would be embarrassing not to playing at home against a B french team

Yeah, I can't find right now the details but I remembered having heard something about it, there will be no points to share in the world ranking.
I think the main reason France does this is because they don't respect Argentina nor Uruguay, only Dupont will be busy with the Olympics, the rest of the squad will be on vacation. If the series was played against New Zealand I bet anyone they get their first team there.
Wrong. The top14 is a gruelling affair, it's been ages since the French brought all the big guns during summer tours, if ever. All the main guys desperately need to rest, top 14 finalists will take no part in this tour, that's been set in stone since Galthié's 2nd run. So young guys, from teams who do not take part in the final, and haven't been starters or taken a significant part in the 6 nations. Besides Dupont, no Atonio Marchand Mauvaka Cros Baille Ollivon Flament Fickou Penaud Alldritt, etc etc, even if their team does not reach the top 14 final. It was the exact same reasoning last time France toured Japan in summer, and Australia.
Massive 24 months for French players. I recall the look on Fickou's face during the Netflix 6 nations. He looks absolutely spent. They're running on empty, so rather than disrespecting Argentina, they're respecting their own domestic club competition

The record against Argentina in the last 5 is 3-2 so they very well should respect them
