- In this food travel vlog, my dad and I eat phở (Vietnamese noodle soup) at a Michelin selected restaurant in District 1, Saigon, Vietnam. The pho turned out to be so good, that my dad wolfed down his first bowl and was even ate a second bowl of this Vietnamese deliciousness.
The exact name and location of the restaurant are:
Pho Viet Nam
14 Phạm Hồng Thái, Phường Bến Thành, Quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh
The total price for three bowls of pho, one mango smoothie, and a bag of Vietnamese donuts was 350k vnd or $14.39.
We ate this traditional Vietnamese food and gave you a signature Dank Rank Food Review.
This pho restaurant was a little bit on the pricey side of pho in Ho Chi Minh City, and definitely seemed to cater towards a more foreign crowd. That said, the restaurant was very clean, was comfortably air conditioned indoors, and of course received the nod from the Michelin food reviewers.
For any foodies traveling to HCMC in search of some delicious pho at a clean and reputable restaurant, definitely come try out this phở!

Dad seems like a man of few words, but he also looks like a person you can't mess with either.
He's more outgoing in the other videos I made with him he was just hangry while we filmed this one :)
His dad? They look same age.
You say that like the two are suppose to correlate together...
I don’t talk much when eating Pho either. Dad’s tearin it up like most people do that love pho.
@@michellebatzel5809 Cuz Pho's broth is so hawt for a long time, and the stone bowl too oof
Dad doesn't mess around. Gets right to business and devours those bowls like it's his last.
I can tell he's a man of commitment and focus 😅

And he follows his son's queue as to what's proper etiquette, because he was hesitant to hold the ox tail with his bare hands, but after he saw him do it, he dove in like Henry V. Also using the condiments sparingly, after seeing his son do it. Must be proud of his son being so fluent.
I wonder why we can't these viggie at American supermarket...
That’s his dad?? They look like friends hanging out together. Man, his dad looks good for his age.
that's what happens when you're single

Thats one ruggedly good-looking dad! Handsome enough to be a hollywood actor for sure 😎

Dad is a man of few words :)
haha yea sometimes
He was interested more in food than talk, lol
Why waste energy on talking when you have great food in front of you.
Dad looking lita prehistoric caveman, this he has few words
😂😂
Bro, your Vietnamese and the accent is spot on!
thank you!
That lady just standing there in the back looking at them eat 😂😂😂
😂😂
i think ur dad is living his best life, everyone shows themselves externally differently.
Respect for the fact that he adds the tones in both title and voice. He seems like Vietnamese now
🤣😂 I thought everything was good until he started teaching me my own language lmfao
REAL LMAO, why does he lowkey speak more fluently than me 😭😭
@@girlfromogyt I feel you 🥲
I don’t want to travel many places but Vietnam is a place I want to visit.
I don't know your age, but you're clearly a young man, and your father is too young to have a grown-up child like you. Based on your ability to speak Vietnamese, I think you have spent some time living in Vietnam. Hope your dad will have a great time there with you as his tour guide 😊👍
Son looks old.

0:43 bro was clearly impressed when you spoke Vietnamese. He's like, MY MAN.
haha...word
I like the way they serve pho. It looks delicious. I would try this place when I travel to Vietnam.
yeah definitely
Now is the time,it may hard to you at first cause we happening to have Lunar New year just a week later. You will have the very new on everything you can to experience, new year, new journey, new friends, new food even drinks..the city in any where will be very peaceful cause during the New year event,we will get rid all of daily life's hustle buzzer and just chilling and celebrate. Take a shot of beer or a cup of green tea, have a sweet with the local and wish the best to each other is the mood at this time of the year
Dad is like. Shut the damn camera off. I just want to eat in peace.
That place is the best I’ve had in Saigon. The noodles are made fresh in house. The stone bowl keeps the soup hot for the entire meal. Soup is so tasty. Good job
Whoa the pho looks delicious 😍😍I like their concept. love ur vietnamese, glad to see your dad experienced vietnam hope he had fun
I stayed acrossed street from this restaurant last summer. Had exactly the same pho and it was delicious. Great pho
Excellent video. Pho is the holy grail of soup. I drive 50 miles twice a month to Sandusky, Ohio at the Vietnamese restaurant called the Mekong just to eat the Pho. I get either beef or seafood. I was also able to buy a case of Bia Saigon. Later I bought 5 cases thru a distributor but it is no longer available. Even the restaurant can't get it. If you know why please let me know. Thanks!
I have no idea...Bia Saigon was my go-to beer when I first got to Saigon...then I switched to Tiger beer for years...but recently, I've switched back to Bia Saigon (green aka Sai Gon Xanh)...it's a bit lighter and I like it. Hope you can find some. If not, there's plenty here in Vietnam if you want to make a visit
Bún bò Huế over phở any day for me
You would go crazy eating at this place in the video. Locals also love it. Bro the green Bia Saigon is most popular local beer as well
@@bearpham565it’s so delicious but I’m scared of the foot
You're right Ben that's considered an upper class restaurant. I had lived in District 1 has been also a upper class neighborhood for even before 1975 so little surprise there. They got your dad hooked with two bowls of Pho haha! and you singlehandedly took care of your bowl.
haha "Two Bowl Bill"
Your dad seems super chill. Nice to see you guys hanging out. I wish more people had this kind of relationship with their fathers. Too often I feel like dads go unappreciated.
For oxtail sizzling Pho like that, it's around $20+ a bowl in LA, plus 18% tips. So, 15 bucks for 3 bowls and drinks is an awesome deal! Thanks for sharing.
wow...huge price difference
Việt Nam là thiên đường ẩm thực ❤
California minimum wage coming $20USD/hour. Compare to minimum labor wage 200,000VND/day ($8 USD) in VN. $15 bucks for 3 bowls is not cheap for local Vietnamese.
This place isnt for locals .
@@phuhuynh8216 Agree. Locals making this type of money won't eat there, they have other more affordable places to eat at. Locals eating there don't make $8USD/day. But for me who is living in the US, it's a wonderful deal.
You can tell the dad was hungry and then when he finally ate you see him relax a bit, I'm the same when hungry loll That pho looks glorious, I gotta try this place 😋
yeah he was definitely hangry
Wow your dad is a bowl full of enthusiasm
fr
😂
Seriously lol
I prefer dad's eating style compared to the young guy....eating noodles need momentum and young guy had none....food getting colder by the minute and noodles absorbing lots of liquid
@@TDotPMakhe’s gotta talk my guy. Dads the one who eats, he takes it slow and talks to his viewers giving info. I’m sure the young man can destroy a bowl if he wasn’t recording
Looks delicious! Thanks for sharing your experience, your dad is a cool dude!
Thanks I’m glad you liked it
Just recently discovered your channel after watching through other youtubers like Max and Chris remix. Impressive Vietnamese ! Haven't been back since 2015 so it's refreshing to see these videos.
Cheers thank you. Glad you found the channel and hope you enjoy the videos!
you have the best vibe to you, I was smiling the whole video
Thank you I really appreciate that
There you go BL growing, and keep happy time, the Vietnamese like smiles 😅 I’m living in Michigan but I’m will support your channel.
Just keep on going Tyler. You’re doing great with your vietnamese. Thanks a bunch for loving and living in a country that is so judgmental of others. God bless you.
If that’s seriously your dad, he looks great, looks like your brother, also he looks really fit, much respect ✊
that's really my dad
That looks so good!
I'm Vietnamese-American (grew up in U.S.). You speak better Viet than I do, lol! Glad you and your dad enjoyed this iconic dish (looks delicious)!
thank you...twas good!

Your video came across my feed randomly I think, and I got curious. I was shocked to hear you speaking Vietnamese pretty well! And though your dad was a man of few words, he enjoyed the food graciously & he’s so handsome for his age. Totally mistakened you both for brothers, would’ve never guessed father & son.
dang, i just ate and my mouth is watering. the pho, the fresh drinks
Looks delicious. Cheers!
cheers
Your vietnamese really good brother i'm glad your dad enjoy pho as well.
Thank you!
Amigo- excellent video. We spent 4 weeks in Vietnam 🇻🇳 last year and loved it. Respect to all from Durango Mexico 🇲🇽
That's awesome. Cheers from Vietnam to Mexico! I miss Mexico and look forward to visiting again
Hello🇲🇽
I had 3 bowls one time hehe i absolutely love Pho Bo!
Watching this video made me crave pho so much. I was literally salivating. It’s late when I watched this so all the restaurants are closed but I could always run out to 7-11. They sell great pho.
pho real?
People don't realize that in Hawaii 7-11 sells a lot of good food and is nothing like the Mainland.
Dude your Vietnamese is sooo good. 👍
Dude, your Vietnamese pronunciation is amazing. Love pho. My favorite is Pho with well done beef brisket, flank, tripe, tendon, beef balls. I've never seen Pho served in a heated metal bowl before--I think I would prefer a regular bowl because I've never had Pho that wasn't already very hot and I like to sip all the soup when I'm done by hoisting the bowl with my hands. Thanks for this recommendation, I'd love to try it if I visit Vietnam.
Thanks for the compliment...I also prefer a regular bowl for the same hoist
and gulp purpose lol
Cảm ơn anh đã mang món phở quê hương mình ra thế giới nhé!!
The dad is really enjoyed PHO in Vietnam. I think he will never forget it when he comes back to the US. God bless you all.
I salivated the whole time. Have to try it.
I love Pho too, very comfort food.
and that food looks heavenly🤩😵
Wow, I thought he was your older brother!...I had to see your other recent videos just to make sure I heard it right that he's your dad. 😊
I thought dad was staying in vn for two weeks. Looks like he’s here for more than a month, which is great!
he's back in America I'm just still uploading content we filmed
Good job dad!
Thanks a lot
I've had Vietnamese iced tea a few times. I'm pretty sure it is basically iced Jasmine tea. Super refreshing. Garlic is a root (aromatic).
I love "Banh Canh Cua" as well!!!Unfortunately in SoCal not so many choice for me make for Banh Canh Cua
ah interesting...yeah it's delicious
You need to visit San Jose, Ca ((NorCal). There's a Pho everywhere, and most of it are really good and authentic.
@@MegaWaxz I tried Pho in Socal pretty good! "All about Pho in Lakewood, Phoholic 1& 2 in Westminster
Dad knows how to eat. Makes it look so delicious.
Wow your vietnamese is amazing, i know so little growing up. I dont know you ever heard of this joke but I saw a show where a man ate pho for the first time and he said, "Why does it look like a clogged sink?" When he tried it, he said it was the most amazing thing he has ever eaten! Lol
I'm also very envious how the pho there in Vietnam is, the pho here in NC is just from branded bags and not fresh, gives so little veggies and condiments, but that orange siracha sauce looks amazing! I've never seen that donut either, I wonder what its called. But To have sizzling pho sounds like such a cool experience! Thank you for showing your adventure with your dad, I learned so much! Foodie ftw!~
haha "a clogged sink"...the donut is called a "banh quay" it's delicious.
@@BigTimeBentleyoh I remember the show! It’s called “Kevin Can Wait” and type in pho!
Thank you for telling me, I gotta bake it soon! 🥰
Nice video❤
Your Vietnamese is quite good.. very good pronunciation! Keep it up.
The pho in California cost about $16 and more… it’s depends on what size and what kind of beef. It can go up to $20 easily!
wow stark difference in price
It’s the same price here in Houston. The plandemic messed up everything.
Your Vietnamese is excellent, good job
Looks fire
Wow hi Daddy! ❤
Merry Christmas to you all cheers 🎉❤😮

If you arrange your noodles and ingredients into a spoon and get a little broth all in one bite, you get a taste of heaven.

Oh wow your dad ate two bowls of noodle soup so crazy and impressiv3😮
Yeah, not typical but impressive 👏 . I would had ate 2-3 large bowls because of how good pho is 🍲 since I ate it many times.
Dad can eat! He looked extremely fit as well!
I was just there few weeks ago, food was excellent!
Nice! Yeah I really liked the presentation and how they served the pho sort of deconstructed with the boiling broth
Thank you for coming to Vietnam

LOL When I saw your dad eating Quay because Pho wasn't served yet it instantly reminded me of my dad. Definitely Dads' behaviors!
haha nice
It's a franchise in the city...they have several locations.
Workers lookin at you like..sit your ace down boy 😂
The best way to enjoy Vietnamese foods is to mix them with a lot of vegetables and herbs that they bring to your table. It enhances the flavor and aroma of the foods.
Reminds me of my Dad. When hes hungry and I talk too much he will say, "Can you be quite for a minute." lmao.. Your Dad did not say it but I felt it lol!
Sorry, haven't watched the full vid but two bowls of Pho? That nap he had after must've been glorious! Everytime I have Pho man I am one sleepy bastard
I recommend drinking the broth as I alway do, its a nice touch to your meal
true true
Thats a serious appetite
Phở is a traditional Vietnamese soup, primarily made with broth brewed from chicken or beef bones, simmered for hours. The rice noodles are tender, accompanied by beef or chicken, and served with fresh herbs like scallions, cilantro, and condiments such as lime and chili. Phở is renowned for its rich flavor and stands as a significant symbol of Vietnamese cuisine.
Your vietnamese ís is great. Im impressed
thank you
Dad doesn't mess around when it comes to Pho.
The best thing about vietnamese foods is they are light and served with fresh herbs so even if you down two bowls of Pho you won't feel like you gonna die.
yeah that's very true...you don't get the food coma from eating Vietnamese food.
Waitress, in the background, was just Watching you guys!-lol. Here, in Hawaii, live in walking distance proximity to 2 Very Good Viet eateries. One of my faves is Short Rib pho...XLNT! Aloha from Hawaii
Aloha
Boy feed your dad lol :) very cool time
That girl in the background is just hardcore staring at them eat lol 😆 😂
FYI: What we (Americans) eat as "garlic" is the bulb of the garlic plant which is like a cousin of the onion. It is considered a vegetable. Leaves and the flower are both edible.
