    Why do you prefer isopropyl alcohol versus ethanol?

      Much cheaper and easier to find. I can go to any grocery store or pharmacy and get isopropyl alcohol.

    Unless you were working under a flow hood or other negative pressure device, you did not sterilize. The split second you expose that culture to open air it is contaminated again.
    What you did was sanitize it.
    I work with fungal cultures, and it is EXTREMLY difficult to retain sterility even with a commercial flow hood.

      The entire bench he's working on is a flow hood. No need to be condescending, he's a professional who "works with fungal cultures" as well
