If I made a sequel to this, the main villain would be Hugo Strange, who would be patterned like a 4Chan sleuth; who discovers who the bat is behind the mask.
This would force Bruce to be more outgoing in his civilian identity, in order to throw others off his scent. Kinda like how his experiences with Riddler forced him to be more a symbol of hope rather than terror.

Pattinson's transition from being the most mocked actor ever to being in great films like Good Time, The Rover and the Lighthouse and in my opinion the best live action batman ever is probably the greatest actor comeback of all time. It puts Mickey Rourke, John Travolta and RDJ to shame. I never wouldve thought he would become my second favorite actor working today, next to Keanu Reeves

I can´t personally choose between the different Batman movies. The original Tim Burton´s are legendary and still hold up to this day, Nolan´s Batmans are also masterful, but to say that this Batman is not an outright masterpiece right up there with its predecessors would be unfair. This is what the cinema needs more.

    *The suit:*
    - The fact that they make the cape look like a trenchcoat works perfectly for _The Dark Knight Detective_.
    - However, it doesn't look like that suit could fit in that backpack he carries.
*The writing:* Muah! He starts with _I am vengeance_ and he grows to _Vengeance is not enough._ Protagonist development at the end of a super-hero film? Can we ask for more?
*The actor:* That he feels too young for us older milennials is more a reflection on us. (I bet we think cops are getting too young now too.) I believed the performance completely. It didn't sound like teenage DiCaprio grappling with Shakespeare. (Which Bale and Affleck definitely did.)
*The cave:* I understand why they have to do the tower. What, with the current traffic problems in NY. But for me, the manor's got to be on Long Island.
*The signal:* Will you guys stop trying to project it on the sky already?! That's impossible. If you want realism, project it on the side of the Empire State Building. That works fine. (BTW, yes I understand that Gotham city is not literally New York or Chicago. But in another, deeper way, it is exactly New York and Chicago.)
    *Bruce:*
    - The only actor ever to give a fully realized Bruce is Keaton. And with him, what drives Bruce to be Batman is not fully explained. (Although, I would argue, it was not unperformed.)
    - The truth of the character is that there just isn't that much Bruce left. Especially in the early days. But intelligent people get less certain of things as they age. If Bruce is portrayed as intelligent, then he'll start to reassert himself as the character becomes less driven by what he wants to end, and more by what he wants to leave behind. (Even in Frank Miller's wonderful tale. Which so many of us were dismayed to discover was a young buck's Ayn Rand fantasy.)

Bruh Superman was never Hope like people say he is. That was a Snyder thing. Superman is doing what's right. Batman has a no killing rule because he also believes in second chances. Superman kills just as much as the average person. How many people have you killed in a pub fight or office disagreement? Superman doesn't kill cuz it's easy for him, what is hard is restraint and doing what's right. Batman is do what you can. He is never give up. All heroes in DC are Hope, that's what makes a DC hero. Honestly my only dislike in this was how Bruce treated Alfred, particularly after the bomb. I get his inner struggle and all the selfish brooding that is early Batman- but Alfred has always been the exception to that behavior from Bruce. And I genuinely think the film missed giving Bruce a touch more heart by having him show true love for Alfred and a bit more depth between them.
For all the misses of Gotham, they captured the relationship of a young Bruce and uncertain Alfred better than this film. Something I hope they work on fixing in the sequel

I love this Batman movie for so many reasons!
The opening 10 minutes were great. The narration, setting up our mysterious villain with his first crime, and showing the psychological effect Batman is having on the criminals of Gotham was exactly what I've always wanted in a Batman movie.
There have been some great Selena Kyle's in Batman on TV and in movies, but this is the first one that was interesting as a character. The 1960s Catwomen were all charismatic and a joy to watch, but didn't have any character development. Michelle Pfeiffer was great as a Tim Burton character, and sexy as heck, but she didn't really portray the character that we know from the comics. Even the cartoon depictions of the character were good, but we didn't see enough of them. This is a Selena Kyle that we got to know as a person, and it was a pretty faithful interpretation.
While I expect Bruce's fighting style to improve in future movies, I do like that it's a bit sloppy and we see him take hits. Even the greatest fighter in the world is going to get slugged a few times. When somebody trains the fight, like as a boxer for example, one thing they have to train is how to fight somebody who isn't trained. A boxer will train for months before his first fight, sparring with people who are also trained how the box, but can find themselves at a real disadvantage (or at least take too many hits) the first time they step in the ring with somebody who doesn't belong there, who just windmills and acts erratic. In real life, fighting is sloppy and hectic. Think of the great fighting choreography from Daredevil, where our hero got tired, messed up moves, and misjudged his opponents.
Everything about this movie, the characters, the tech, the fighting styles, they all set up great baselines that can be improved on as the film's progress. And that makes it a great start to a Batman franchise

I think this is why Robert Pattinson was so attracted to the role in the first place: it's not the typical Batman origin story we're used to seeing and points out the darker aspects of being a vigilante rather than glorifying the job. Just looking at Pattinson's career post-Twilight, he's played characters that are extremely dark and twisted while also being morally conflicted and outright deviant, so him being attracted to this version of Batman isn't shocking at all. Also, I couldn't agree with you more with this being my favorite version of Batman as he is a truly broken man who fails to see the damage he's doing while trying to do some good, and the opening scene contrasted with the closing scene is what makes this film the best in my opinion. His entire view from the beginning voiceover changes by the end and he goes from seeing fear as a tool to now knowing he has to be a symbol of hope in order to make real change in Gotham.

I think the tone fits for it and Pattinson (knowing how good of an actor he is) definitely fits for it. And for those who read that comic, I know it will kinda break the grounded version of this Batman, but it can also be done in a grounded way. Maybe there’s a drug or infection he got that makes him laugh, and he has to do detective work while fighting off the drug or infection. I know. Stupid idea there, but you get the gist. As much as i love Bale's Batman, i think he was amazing despite Nolan's script, not because of it.
Nolan's Trilogy take on Batman's World would be perfect, if not for one Big Mistake.
    Batman himself.
Anyone who reads Comics knows that Batman is obsessed with the mantle, he has a need for being Batman, a pathological need.
He would never stop being Batman, no matter how challenging the circumstances were.
    Batman Ego :
When he wants to stop being Batman, his mind wouldn't let him.
Batman Mask of The Phantasm :
Bruce gives up happiness to be Batman for the rest of his life.
    Batman Beyond :
Bruce is more than 60 years old, still being Batman as long his body can take it, sometimes going further than that.
    The Dark Knight Returns :
Bruce stops being Batman for 10 years, because the government forced him to ( Jason's Death as well )
But Batman couldn't be kept locked anymore, because of that, when he came back, he was more ruthless than ever before.
    Batman City of Bane :
He loses Alfred, gets broken by Bane, his Father comes back, gets the chance to get his mother back from the dead, and REFUSES all that just to be Batman.
    Because he NEEDS It.
And Nolan's Batman in The Dark Knight, is desperate to stop being Batman, just to be with Rachel.
Batman is putting HIS happiness above his concern for others.
Detail, he was Batman for barely A Year.
That's SO OUT of Batman's Character.
    Personally, that's unforgivable to me.
Nolan's Batman was considered the Best Live Action Batman because he literally had no competition, since Burton's Batman was equally out of character ( massive murderer, killing inocents, being reckless with his identity ) as Nolan's.
Pattinson's Batman on the other hand is perfect, quiet, mysterious, obsessed, detective, empathic, caring only for others, not even a bit for himself.
Everyone has their own opinion about the movie, but Pattinson's/Revees's Batman is the best live action interpretation of the character ever taken on screens.

I really hope, as time goes on, the people that are determined to not give this movie a chance put everything they think they know about it aside and just experience this story. I’ve been a fan of Batman since I was a kid, I read a few comics here and there-watched all the tv shows and movies, but this is the first Batman I’ve seen in live action that accurately captured the core of Bruce Wayne for me. He makes mistakes, he lets his grief define him, control him. But even with all of it he still finds the strength to hope that Gotham can be better. That HE can be better.
Say what you want about different versions of the character existing, THIS is Batman to me. I have my qualms with the movie, particularly in it’s political themes i guess but everything about Batman, everything about Bruce is spot on.
Batman is and always has been my favorite superhero. The kindest superhero, in my opinion. And it just finally feels like they’re letting HIM be front and center.
that’s not to say that the other Batman films haven’t had good Bruce Waynes, but he hasn’t been the main focus of a live action film before. If you watch any other live action batman it feels, to me, like he’s a side character in his own movie. That the Bruce Wayne in that particular story was made to FIT the story-not that the story was made to fit him.
Anyway, I will stop rambling. Just know that I agree wholeheartedly and I can’t wait to see more of THIS Batman.
Oh! One more side note, I truly love that they leaned into the ‘why should you feel bad for a rich orphan’ thing. Bruce in this movie feels like he’s afraid his pain isn’t valid, feels like his pain is less than because of his wealth. The Riddler tearing Bruce down with his “That’s not being an orphan” really solidified that for me.

The Batman is by far the most accurate representation of Batman as a character to date

I’ve always liked the thought of playing into the aspect that he’s clearly too young and not at all ready to take care of and help a child get justice for his parents murder, but he does it anyway because when someone need to step up, Batman will.
Edit for add on idea: maybe have Alfred talk Bruce into it after Bruce had very clearly been spending time with the kid anyway idk

I do think they could add Dick in the second film. Picture a scenerio where after the events of the first film Bruce is finally becoming active in Gotham with helping to rebuild the ruined parts of the city and creating a new trust fund for kids. Maybe he's the one who hires the circus in order to help raise more money as well and we see Dick's origin story and Bruce feels responsible for him. Unlike the mayor's son in the first film, Bruce will step in to help this orphaned kid and in a way Dick helps Batman open to more to people around him aside from Alfred and Jim

(Rant warning) I was so nervous when I heard Pattinson (The shiny Vampire guy?) was going to be Batman. My favorite super hero of all time, hands down, no contest. He knocked it out of the freaking park! Like, I didn't even care about him as an actor before.. but seeing what he can really do with the right circumstances, I gained a whole new respect for the man. This movie was the perfect storm, and it's the best Batman movie since 89. Not by much, but I'm biased. Burton's Batman will always be my Batman. Moving on, he plays Bruce Wayne probably best of anyone. You can see the pain, the PTSD, the anger.. all of it, without him saying a word. I always felt that while Bruce has to blend in, he shouldn't just forget all when he's not wearing the mask. I firmly believe the slpit in his personality.. he's Batman! Mask or not, he is 100 percent Batman. While I do hope in the next movie they do try to make him fake being Bruce a tad more.. not too much! Just a bit. As Batman, he's terrifying. His very first fight, I really thought he was going to beat the guy to death. You can see the anger, the pain, just exploding out. He didn't really do much Ninjitsu or anything, he just beat the ever loving sh!t out of the guy. Another thing they captured beautifully, better than any of the films.. was the criminal's fear of him. When they look into the shadows and start pissing down their leg just because they think he's there. Just 😘, chef's kiss. Realistically, I can't see myself doing anything less if it were me. To sum it up.. this is the Batman we fans have been waiting for! They better not screw it up. I love it completely as is. No wacky colors, no one liners, no goofy gadgets. It's almost like a slasher movie, and I think that's the best way to portray Batman. The intro to the subway fight .. that just gave me chills. Just nothing but the shadows, and then footsteps.. growing louder and louder.. the container scene when he's just tanking bullets.. holy crap! That's f**king terrifying! Oh, and the new Batmobile firing up for the first time.. ngl.. half mast when that happened.😂 That's a damn good Batman! Good sh!t, I can't wait for the 2nd.

Stop the 🧢. This is the best overall comic book portrayal of a live action Batman in my opinion. It’s because of the detective angle. Bruce Wayne was based on Michael Corleone (as far as the speech patterns, smoothness, etc…) and I’m a huge Godfather fan, but Bruce Wayne is not Michael Corleone. That’s the issue there.
As far as The Batman side of things the detective elements and his relationship with Gordon was good. Him analyzing an entire room searching and using all of his knowledge and tech to find thing’s seasoned vets couldn’t see, that’s Batman.
    Overall not the 🐐!
    4 outta 5 for me.
