Are you seriously confused as to why Damien would adopt a monkey. Hes the Robin that got Goliath the bat demon, a bat hound, a house cat named Penny worth, bat cow, and a turkey. Him adopting the monkey is in character.
I was literally saying this to my screen lol. I think in a weird way this film nailed the batfamily. And also the film is really fun. The guy gets a bit too hard on this considering he loves gotham😂

Let me answer your question with another question: Have you SEEN some of the masks from Feudal Era Japan? They're not that far off from Joker's face. Batman was right not to draw the conclusion of the identity of their master. For all he knew, they could've been the palace guards of some local Daimyo. A detective or investigator in that kind of situation explores all possibilities whilst NOT making any conclusions until evidence can be verified, at least that's how real detectives and investigators are trained to operate, and since Batman is the World's Greatest Detective, I'd say he did pretty damn well.

Infuso, Damian liking animals is consistent with his character. The comic Damian likes animals. He has 4 pets. He has a dog named Titus, a cat named Pennyworth, a cow called Batcow, and a dragon bat creature named Goliath. He's also a vegetarian. Damian likes animals.
Plus it makes sense the league of shadows, his family and Bruce are pretty anti social. So him being comfortable with animals makes sense.

Damian is no longer vegetarian, as shown in one of the recent superman comics when he eats Gargoyle dogs with Jon Kent. Though he does still care very much about his animals :D

This review just showed how little you know about these characters. Damian is a massive animal lover, it's one of his very few soft spots.
A lot of his complaints are about characters doing what they’re know to do. I swear, he’s never read, watched, played anything dc before

(Maybe that's unfair but after every crappy appearance he had between Under the Red Hood and Flashpoint, and his irredeemable garbage 2011 series Red Hood and the Outlaws, I plain hate the character at this stage)

They weren’t samurai Warriors, they were Buddhist monks, called Kumuso Monks.
Red Hood's design is based off of the original red hood costume that Joker wore in The Killing Joke before he was pushed into the chemicals. It's a massive elongated helmet.

I honestly liked this film. Represented the cultural media pretty well. Plus are you honestly surprised damien got a monkey? Damien adopted a bat cow

See I disagree it's like they flipped through a few batman comics and said , "hey I got this idea for a story but no one will buy it, think maybe if I make it batman and just slap some random characters into it" like gorilla grod? He is flash villan and has been in more green lantern then batman. It just felt really out of character

I saw this movie in a list of other animated batman movies I was trying to watch and thought "hey, that looks...weird" and then proceeded to have the most fun, odd and confusing watching experience I've ever had and I loved every minute of it. The giant mechs made me laugh out loud but also pissed me off because I was hoping to see more hand to hand fights...because it's set in a heavily martial arts defined era...starring a family of actual ninjas.

I was thinking about that. The movie was 100% made to look as much anime as possible, so the Japanese dub is the last thing remaining to make it accurate.
Exactly it was totally meant to be just completely wacky insane fun and nothing more and it accomplished it I would love to see an else world story of Batman in ancient Japan with all the villains and bat family it be neet

Honestly considering the Cat-Cow is a legitimate thing in the comics, a Bat-Monkey makes just as much and possibly more sense because at least Monkeys are super agile and stuff

This movie felt like a fever dream the moment it was announced.. and i loved every single second of it. Possibly one of the best batman animated films made.

There were a few times when i felt the criticism were unjustified : The bat monkey. When we've had a bat cow and a bat t rex for so long, I don't see how this is any worse. It's a bit weirder than the dog's story, but definetely not as weird as the others.
Secondly : Damian loves animals. He's the one that insisted so that bat cow would be brought with them instead of just given to the authorities (found in some horrible lab). He loves his dog titus (idk if ace still exists in this universe) and I think it compliments his antisocial side perfectly.
I thought the disguise was good until I saw the mans dome 😂😂😂
I like the fact that Will Friedle got to do more voice work in batman animations. I did enjoy him as Terry.

why tho, is it because you are under the notion that sumo wrestlers are fat? they are not, they even have a smaller fat percentage on their body then the average japanese citizen, they are essentially walking tanks using their thin layer of fat as armour and as weight to keep their balance, because of that it makes sese to me that a muscular character such as bane would be a sumo wrestler, it just fits

19:31 Actually given the fact that the Joker in this movie is basically just Oda Nobunaga as a clown (and the rest of the villains are just standing in for other feudal lords from around the same time.) It’s only around 400 years in the past.
I remember watching this and this feels like this was a movie from a corporate that knew they had nothing to lose and did crack just to add more fun into the mix
As insane and hard to swallow as this movie's concept is, I gotta commend it on the designs it uses. They were done by the same guy who did the comic afro samurai. Its good stuff.

Bit of trivia, BTAS was dubbed in Japanese, when Dissidia Final Fantasy was made and they gave all characters voices, they gave Kefka the same voice actor, Shigeru Chiba (Japanese Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho), that they used for the Joker in Japanese. And here... they use Wataru Takagi for Joker...

I tried watching it in Japanese but my sub track was for the dub, which has way more lines of dialogue, so I would get a bunch of subtitles for lines that no one was saying

I saw this movie long before I saw your review on it and man let me tell ya. You are right on the money. I couldn't believe my eyes. I laughed, I cried, I went my pants (literally) and I just couldn't fathom what mind would come up with something that was so freaking crazy. I didn't know what the hell I was watching. This was a legendary mind fuck of the craziest crap I have ever seen Batman produce anywhere and trust me I've seen the Bat go through some really off the wall shit. But nothing like this. If anyone reads this and think I'm just joking or tripping, then my advice is to watch it for yourself. Trust me, you'll never look and the caped crusader the same again. BTW great job trying to bring all this craziness together.

I mean, I couldn't really call this Batman movie the strangest ever made.
Basically, this is a celebration of Batman with Anime Tropes, right down the use of Kaijus (the Bat God thing), mechas, heavily regerenced haircuts, clothing and title cards.
All you have to do to get this movie is being exposed to said tropes and keep them in mind, while also knowing about general Batman lore.
Oh, and I'm not trying to take a jab at this video or anything? It's just pretty much all there is to this movie. A fun joyride best enjoyed with cultural insight.
I actually like this movie cause they did there homework with the character design and the outfits they are wearing in modern Gotham timeline and ancient japan timeline. It’s like an anime in disguise. Well plus power rangers junk in the movie.
