They are so groovy. There’s a rabbit hole to followed in the storyline through the discography. I’m 47 and I’m hooked on Ghost . Love your channel. Cheers🎉

This song actually is written on bass. And Henrik is right. Tobias writes solos that fits the song. Not to shine as a guitar player since he doesn't play guitar live anyway. Since you're from Brittain I can tell you a little funny story that just happened. Tobias had a sneak peak of the Ghost movie Rite Here Rite Now in Stockholm a couple of weeks ago. And invited for this VIP screening was Bruce Dickinson. The next day Bruce played at Gröna Lund in Stockholm. And there to watch the show was.... Tobias! They know each other since Ghost was the opening act for Iron Maiden a couple of years ago and still are good friends.

Completely tracks with what I know of how Iron Maiden treats their support bands, amazing band and amazing people. I am fan of Lord Of The Lost and I know how well they have been treated by Iron Maiden. Got to love a band that is just so friendly and supportive of their support bands.

So happy you're getting into Ghost! \m/ Tobias excels at identifying out the elements of a band's particular sound and recreating it. He's done his homework with the classics, ingesting them and integrating them into his work, whether it's 60s, 70s, 80s or even 90s. He has embodied what bystanders back the thought rock music was (and actually wasn't). I think also perhaps Tobias realized there needed to be more ripping guitar solos and started bringing in the talent to give it the sauce. Somewhere in an interview he admitted he was good but not great.

I understand what you are saying about the guitar solos. But from what I understand, Tobias doesn't want a guitar solo to take over the song. It shall just fit.
But if you want a Ghost song with a stunning guitar solo, listen to Twenties from the latest album. The solo is done by Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth. There is your solo you longing for!
The song itself has divided the fans in two. Some love it, some hate it. I love the song.
The inspiration for the song came from a music documentary for Swedish television where a Brasil rapper in the favela did a concert in the favela community that Tobias saw several years before he wrote it. The song is made in a 1920's style, about the 2020's but with the foundation in rap, but as a rock song.
    Stunning solo!

As much as I don't like Twenties, the solo is pretty good. If there wasn't that "TWENTIES!!!" part I would actually enjoy it a lot.
EDIT: Opeth fucks heavy btw, Åkesson is one of my favorite vocalists.

@@Nazareth1221You should watch the live performance of Twenties in the Rite Here Rite Now movie with the skeleton dancers. It's the best song of the show. I love it on the record but live it's just spectacular!

Spillways has a good guitar solo! I really like the one in Griftwood too. Basically the Impera album is where I feel the guitar solos really got stepped up

I dunno dude. I've listened to every kind of rock and metal my whole life and there is something about Ghost's guitar solos that feels right to me. I feel like the solos are exactly what they need to be for the songs. Perhaps I like more melodic solos? Maybe Im a sweet and simple kinda guy? I can't relate, I've never felt like the solos needed to be more than what they are. But to each is own. Tobias did intend for Ghost to be very simplistic and I quote "cave man, kinda primordial guitar riffing" perhaps that's all he can do, but he can do it so damn well, it's the composition really. Masterful composition of basic instrumentation.

I completely agree with you. Tobias likes the guitar solos to be a kind of composition themselves within the song, so they are very much to the point and use distinctive melodic components that relate to the song. I'm all for that approach. I love them and generally think they are just right.
Even in Opus, where they're fairly simple and even sound "easy", each one is very unique and tailor made for the song.

You want some major solo-age? Ritual.
But yeah, Ghost has never really done a full on guitar solo, more so "instrumental breaks." I had never really noticed it until you mentioned it here and on the Patreon vid, but they are pretty short. To me though that is not a negative, it definitely adds to the song, but I won't sit here and say they shouldn't have longer solos. Off the top of my head I don't think they ever even reach 30 seconds besides for Ritual (which goes well past 30 seconds), maybe Year Zero?
