During the summer I increase application of micros and potash to help with small amounts of nitrogen. I also notice a significant uptick in my beer drinking during lawn work with my lawn also getting some spillover nutrients here and there

My Bermuda is surviving, but we've had two straight weeks of 100* and higher in southern Texas, with no rain in the last 6 weeks. I'll be spreading Green Shocker tomorrow and I've been praying that Dirt Booster will be available soon!

I was just wondering what to do in this heat wave. Thanks for reading my mind and putting out this video. Do you change your cutting height in this hot and dry stretch?

Doc. I really appreciate your content. It has really helped my lawn look great. I’m mowing almost every 3-4 days weather permitted. I’m also in north GA. My only problem is that it’s a new construction and I just a few bare spots. I’ve put garden soil on the spots and I see runners are starting to come out. Do you recommend I buy some seed or just leave it alone? FYI my lawn hasn’t been a full season yet.

If the brown spots are subsoil debris I would say to take a ProPlugger, take out a 4 to 6-inch deep plug, and then put some good soil in the hole. I bought a ProPlugger last year and I use it all the time, whereas my Yard Butler core aerator hasn't worked properly since the first few times that I used it.

Hey Doc - I have a tall fescue lawn and it’s getting hot up here in Maryland. Can I still put out PGF complete? Or should I stick with Green Shocker and Super Juice? Love the videos - beach house lawn looking amazing by the way!

Is liquid fertilizer better in the summer heat?

  • @brutusdrobny4633
    @brutusdrobny4633 2 года назад +2

Doc, does the drought watering schedule (2x daily watering) drive nitrogen out of the lawn faster? I’m on a good PGF schedule but I still get noticeably better growth at the dogs pee spots so it seems like I must need more nitrogen.

Following your advice and my Bermudagrass is doing pretty good this year. Something odd I noticed recently is after I watered the grass I notice earthworms our on the surface everywhere! They crawl around and of course end up mostly dieing from the heat of the sun. What is up with all the earthworms? Is that good or bad? Am I doing something wrong? Just seems odd.

Doc!!!! Thanks for another amazing video. We subscribed a few years ago and FINALLY have our own lawn. This is our first full season (new construction) and we have been following your advice! Our grass isn’t dark green yet 🥲…guess I need to continue putting in some PGF Complete? We are also seeing some brown spots pop up. We put down some bioadvance a few days ago, hopefully that helps. Thanks again! Ohh, are you planning to put a pool at the farm? 😅 Your pools always look amazing!!

Is it ok to water in the late evenings once or twice during a week of 90+ temperatures.
Been following your recommendations on products and when to apply. My lawn looks so much better and it has filled areas that were thin or just dirt.
    Thank you

Holy cow!! What the heck is up with the price on super juice??
Just used up the last from last year and went to order more. I just can’t do it this year. Gas prices are getting the best of me. Dang…
Maybe I’ll try some green shocker.

Doc, Been followling your plan to a T. Yard is looking great. I sprayed the image weed killer on some large spots of nutsedge that I had and some other weeds. Sod was laid 14 months ago. Hit it with some super juice a few days later. Now I have huge yellow/orange spots. What did I mess up?

  • @michaellenheiser3157

Doc, any opportunity to add an irrigation line outside your fence? I’m sure that’s the easement but you don’t have a sidewalk so I’m guessing foot traffic might be minimal to none.
We hit the 100’s already in Texas the last three days so I’ll stick to the green shocker and DB. My mower is actually having trouble cutting my lawn low as it’s so thick this year following the lawn guide. Should I wait till end of summer to scarify my lawn?
    Go Yuengling!

Hey Doc, for those brown patches that you used the PGF complete on... would also putting greenshocker on those areas at the same time be alright?
Also, for those areas where you suspect sub-ground rocks... how do you handle those areas differently? I’m in a new construction home for about a year and I suspect many areas of my Bermuda lawn have those rocks.
    Thanks!!!!!

I have a question regarding phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Our local farmers coop recommends people till their 11-52-0 and 0-0-60 fertilizers in as they "move really slow" through the soil. I asked what they meant by that and they said those fertilizers tend to stick around in the top 1-2 inches of soil if not tilled in. I'm assuming lawn fertilizers are different, do you know? Thanks.
