Wolfman would probably be lycanthrope and mutations in his genes. Frankenstien probably a scientist trying to resuscitate recently dead in like the past 48 hrs or so.
This film is the perfect example of how genius doesn't fare well with sociopathy. Great synopsis. May I recommend doing Leigh Whannel's last film, Uprgrade? If you haven't seen it yet, It is the film that made me excited to see The Invisible Man...
I liked the Hollow Man and the serum idea as he was developing it for the army and pushed the project for his ego. Becoming invisible himself was never Hollow Man's intention and that's why seeing it through his eyes works. His frustration, disbelief, impatience at others' fruitless efforts to bring him back and finally accepting and using the invisibility for his own merits.
Thanks for another great post! Almost seen all the videos. This was terrific horror/thriller. To make the invisibility a product of technological suit was a genius move.
The movie also ties into Leigh Whannell's previous film, Upgrade. Adrian is the founder of Cobalt, the tech company that created the STEM chip used in the movie. It's a nice little easter egg.
it's one of those movies that I felt would be too nerve-wracking to watch in the theatre. But thanks to your summarization here, I feel like it's going to be less of a stressful ride now. I really want to enjoy this story in the performances.
I think the point of the ending was to show the inherent issue with someone having the power to be invisible, and how that power can turn you to do villainous things, like making it look like someone killed themselves by grabbing their hand and slitting their throat. I think we end the film with not an empowered woman, but someone who has become just as manipulative and corrupt as Adrian.
I don't know about that I think she was very logical in her actions given all the things she went through and the danger he posed to those around her. That guy was truly a monster and would keep going if she did not take the shot right then and there. Though of course this probably left her with issues
I half agree with you. Definitely agree with what you're saying about what that power enables people to do. I also agree that we don't necessarily end with an empowered woman. However, I disagree that she's become as manipulative as Adrian. Could she become that manipulative, if she were to keep and continue to use the suit? Absolutely. But whilst killing someone is not a 'good' act and can't be framed as morally 'pure, and using the tactics of the villain is the first step on a slippery slope, when compared to the actions of the guy who murdered your sister, has threatened to kill all of your friends, attacked those friends, driven you half-insane, and obsessively dictated every single action of your life to make you a prisoner of your own mind (we could also add in a question of non-consensual sex given that she consented thinking she was on birth control when he has deliberately and knowingly taken her off it), killing THAT guy isn't AS manipulative and corrupt as his actions. It definitely could be the start of the spiral and the journey down to his level, but it's not quite at his level yet.
@@kennethsatria6607 We can't have people slitting the throats of whoever they think are a threat, real or not, to them or their friends. In a world were it turns out a guy can actually go invisible, and this supposedly crazy woman turns out to be correct about her being stalked by one, I'm going to have to say that the cops might listen to her if she says that the guy who she thought was stalking her was coming at her again.
As a big lover of the universal monster movies, this was a great and very well do version/take on the idea. Id also like to add what you said at the beginning about other attempts at these films, i think The Wolf Man is very well done and is far better than its given credit for, a bit too much bad cgi but it captured the original feel and look well and the rick baker designs were fantastic.
Oh my gosh yes you made this video. I am a sucker for horror movies and two jump scares including the paint jumpscare and the raining under the car jumpscare really got me. I love you FCE, keep up the great work!
Finally a invisible man movie where the conceptual technology is not out of the realm of possibility and for most of the movie it's more mental manipulation than physical.
It was a masterful film. I personally relished how the suit was used against it's sadistic creator to kill him in the same manner he had used it to torment others. It was poetic justice at its finest.
The idea of holding abusers accountable is also explored in a movie called Teeth. It's a 2007 dark comedy, and not the highest budget, but the message is clear. I liked this, and Teeth, a lot for the message abusers get what they deserve.
One best movies in recent history. This is an excellent example of how good acting and framing can he so engrossing. Some of the best scenes in this movie are when there is literally nothing on screen.
I like how they made him use a suit to make it more realistic but in the original they explaind how he became invisible. Also instead of taking over the world he terrorized his ex-girlfriend.
I would just like to point out, sometimes monsters aren't monsters. I mean in this it was pretty blatant, but also that cecelia became a monster to defeat a monster, and with her now owning the suit, who's to say she won't became the same monster?
I mean he was a sociopath lacking empathy, Cecelia showed no interest in harming others without reason. She might become a vigilante, but a monster is a bit of a stretch
They're apparently making a sequel to this called The Invisible Woman which probably means that Cecilia will lose it because of what Adrian did to her despite killing him and become like him.
This is the direction I want the horror genre to follow. Films that derive their sense of fear from social terrors. Films like Get Out, where there isn't a clear indication there actually is a 'monster' until well past the halfway mark. Not just not showing the monster, similar to Alien, but where you're not giving a definitive confirmation there's any kind of monster at all. There's just a sense of wrongness pervade by the cinematography. Where you're made to fear the seemingly mundane in the same way the central character does.
"I have the power of invisibility! I can do anything! So first thing I'll do is be an asshole to my brother's ex. That's it, just be a jerk and probably lose my power and likely die doing it. But so worth 10/10 would do it again" - Invisible man probably
this movie surprised me. my wife got it from the red box and I was not interested by it at all. but when my wife started loudly freaking out thru out the movie. I took my ear plugs out and dropped my phone and started watching it with her. this movie freak me out. I've always been scared of the unknown. like thinking something is there in the dark but there's not but you can't help but believe there's something there...thats scary. this movie was very well done on a 7 million dollar budget
I find this version of the IM way more scarier compared to the classic version of the book. The classic version was a person trapped in an invisible state because of a serum and that sort of made him more of a monster out of the insanity of it all.But this one can turn back an fourth from the suit. So that monster side is like his true self and he is free to do as he pleases .
My issue with the invisible man is that the monster wasn’t the focus. That’s the point of these creatures. The invisible man was supposed to be sympathetic, a man who got lost while tragically trying to find the way back. It could of been new like that too, this is just a psychological thriller (while good) that seems to be piggybacking on the originals name
The fact that is master manipulator ended up manipulating light is really cool, i mean what he does with it or rather his brother is messed up, but still really cool.
this was the last good movie I saw before the lockdowns. also did not think the suit would look like that, a mass of eyeballs/cameras and screens and the paint reveal was the best jump scare ever and I hate jump scares. Bravo! You don’t need a hundred million to make a good movie just a good story.
These videos are so awesome and very informative. Thanks for taking the time to make them. I do have a request though! From the movie Tank Girl what about water and power explained, and the Rippers explain. I love to hear the background on the Rippers from you that would be awesome.
Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the “loser,” and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world. Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment. When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3×5 card reading, “Please use this M&M for breeding purposes.” This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this “grant money.” I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion. There can be only one.
Also, having the invisibility be caused by a suit rather than a physical ailment massively reduces the invisibility. It is now purely a tool, rather than a permanent feature that can be utilised as a tool. The importance of this is that the invisible man can stop being invisible at will perfectly. And this makes the power EVEN MORE powerful but not in an interesting way. All it does is remove a limitation (no, malfunctions don't count as a weakness in this film as they're only ever used in the same way that throwing debris/liquid has been used in earlier films) in fact, the malfunctions are even more convenient as the filmmaker can arbitrarily make the man invisible or visible during the same scene which makes it seem as though he's simply getting ridiculously lucky constantly.
Amazing work as always, i really appreciate you speaking out on the behalf of domestic violence awareness advocacy, just keep in mind your words hold weight to so many people and woman, men, children, friends and family are all at risk for domestic violence.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. I hope they eventual use the same updated concepts to reinvigorate the other classic monster stories. I think they should do Frankenstein next.
Anonymity is a tool, it depends on the person who uses it, in it of itself it doesn't make a person, just reveals them. In the age of cancel culture and governments, corporations trying to punish anyone for "wrongthink", you should appreciate it. Just because some people use it maliciously troll others (mostly just hurt feelings), doesn't mean you should completely disregard anonymity.

@FilmComicsExplained
Thanks for this review Neyat... 👍🏼
Perfect timing, just watched this yesterday
Hi Niyat! Great video 8)
You should check out the Netflix film “I am mother”
Really enjoyed that movie
I like how they made him use a suit to make it more realistic but in the original they explaind how he became invisible.
Also instead of taking over the world he terrorized his ex-girlfriend.
I would just like to point out, sometimes monsters aren't monsters. I mean in this it was pretty blatant, but also that cecelia became a monster to defeat a monster, and with her now owning the suit, who's to say she won't became the same monster?
I mean he was a sociopath lacking empathy, Cecelia showed no interest in harming others without reason. She might become a vigilante, but a monster is a bit of a stretch
I really wouldn't call her a monster, vilgante at most, but monster no. If she carved off his face and repeatedly stabbed him, then she would be.
Funny how I seen it before your video came and good work mate
I guess I am one of the few that actually loved Dracula Untold... shit was fire.
It’s cool how throughout the whole movie you can see the clumps of hexagons that form the suit on various screens in the different scenes.
Oh neato. Gotta watch your Overlord vid too after I watch it. Appreciate the uploads
They're apparently making a sequel to this called The Invisible Woman which probably means that Cecilia will lose it because of what Adrian did to her despite killing him and become like him.
it will be different story.
I was surprised it wasn't well received. I loved it. The psychological mind games were devious. It is also a very suspenseful movie.
I absolutely love this this channel i wish the videos were longer thought but I get it that it would take months or many many weeks to make
Thanks I really appreciate and enjoyed your explanations of the movie. Keep it up. Regards
I LOVED IT. All your videos deserve a 👍 as far as I'm concerned
"I have the power of invisibility! I can do anything! So first thing I'll do is be an asshole to my brother's ex. That's it, just be a jerk and probably lose my power and likely die doing it. But so worth 10/10 would do it again" - Invisible man probably
Both the brothers were in on it.
1:32, terrifying scream 🤣🤣🤣
She could literally see right through him, physically and metaphorically.
Also why would he make two suits?
Maybe as a backup in case one failed or to give to his brother so he can double cross people
this movie surprised me. my wife got it from the red box and I was not interested by it at all. but when my wife started loudly freaking out thru out the movie.
You make some the highest quality videos I see.
Can we get a Creature from the Black Lagoon video?, my favorite Universal Monster!
The fact that is master manipulator ended up manipulating light is really cool, i mean what he does with it or rather his brother is messed up, but still really cool.
Wheres the element 115 from cod zombies??
"never before has empty space been so scary"
Quiet Place: hold my cup
this was the last good movie I saw before the lockdowns. also did not think the suit would look like that, a mass of eyeballs/cameras and screens and the paint reveal was the best jump scare ever and I hate jump scares. Bravo! You don’t need a hundred million to make a good movie just a good story.
Question: is the Thing in the movies able to communicate with?
I want the suit, not for the invisibility, but just because the suit uncloaked just looks really cool
Wow! That is an amazing take on the invisible man monster.
Since there are very few 2020 movies, I think that this film could be nominated for best picture
When I went to watch this movie I walked in by my self and I walked out with my hands holding the invisible man....
Meanwhile, I'm going invisible to steal food from the grocery store...
I would do it too ngl
The only channel that makes 15 minutes feel like 3 minutes. 🤣 Keep up the amazing work 🙌
The only thing that annoyed me about this movie is the sister. Or how she was written.
I loved this movie. Coming from someone who isn’t a horror fan
This is a great adaptation of the novel. Thanks for covering it! Any thoughts on doing Captain Trips? I kinda miss the disease/plagues videos...
nice video dude but i got to ask when will part 2 of interstellar arrive?
Pls keep commenting about this, I've been also waiting years for that upload & now I notice there are multiple part 2's he has never uploaded, looks like a pattern to me & me thinks he can't be bothered now :(
Can you pls do part 2 of Wolverine (a history of violence )?
I've noticed that any video he does in two parts has a high chance of never having the part 2 being uploaded!!! Someone else mentioned Inderpedance day, I am waiting for Interstellar part 2 (over 2 years now!) and you mentioned Wolverine!! Pretty slack if you ask me! He should just do longer complete videos instead of never finishing the set!!
This movie was so good I'm glad you did a review of it
