I think the FBI was watching the cult and they got a tip off when shit hit the fan. Too late for the characters...or shall I say, rabble of victims.
Spencer Mosley it was because a dog had a mutated form of rabies that was in the apartment, it was taken to the vet and this is how the quarantined happened to the building as they wanted to isolate the origin to make sure it wasn’t spread.
But they would lie and say everyone is OK

Rabies shouldn't be able to mutate that fast since the incubation time is so slow, you can get the vaccine before it even ruptures out of the cells it has infected. it had to be genetically tampered with

FUN FACT: Quarantine was a moderate commercial success, which brought more public exposure to REC, which is based on supernatural events as opposed to medical science, to be honest I like that they're both different though REC is the better film.

I love this movie!
The only problem I have is when they claim that the building is empty on the news, then proceeds to fire shots into it, and remained outside with weapons ready. People would absolutely figure out what's going on.
Dick Dastardly while that is inconsistent you have to take into account various hover agencies are springing into action all at the same time as local law enforcement and news reports. Everyone is on a different page on the level of reaction so while the local authorities announced the building is empty as the plan may had be from that point of view the army got different orders around the same time and lit up the building.
Not saying it’s true but it’s a theory. Just like the Mandalay Bay shooting had very confusing reports of what was going on because of how many people were reporting on it and the different agencies all had constantly changing information
@@Pcgamingfixes I pegged the situation as the whole surrounding area was evacuated, hence the news reporting the evacuation so late. Doing so would enable them some possible privacy

Could you explore La Casa del Fin de los Tiempos? (The house of the end of times). Its a latin american movie, an opera prima for the venezuelan director, about a house that can teleport people through time, it has suspense but also a wholesome narrative.
I watched that on Shudder! I really enjoyed it - more than I thought I would.

that's what I thought at first, watched the whole video though, still enjoy his work
That commentary on how the lighting plays up the terror...I get that.
I saw this when I was young, like 10 or something and yeah the shift from well lit happy place to scary dark building definitely had something on me.
And it also worked in bringing the dread when I went for a rewatch. I knew how happy it was but then that would change instantly.
Found footage horror is the most squandered genre of film. Quarantine was excellent, much that same was the case with the first Paranormal Activity. I have yet to see REC but most certainly want to. These were early enough in the genre's life that they were genuine creative ventures, instead of cheap studio cash cows that were run out of a factory press. There have been few horror movies that instil such genuine anxiety and dread than a good found footage one, as it actually puts you there. I also love how they mostly don't rely on excessive gore to evoke those emotions.
Rec was so much better. When I heard about this film being made back in the day me and my friend already knew this was going to be meh. The production value of the original and the main actresses were so much much better in the spanish version. REC 2 was an even better sequel!
"Rec" and "Rec2" were so freaking awsome, best horror films ive seen, especially because of the unique origin of the outbreak. Scart af. Then "Rec3" just ruined it.

@@theswatteam1909 China never said it wasn't dangerous. In fact, I heard in January that China was enacting quarantine in several cities and it was like "it's a new virus, we don't know shit, but we should be careful" from them.

You should cover the original Spanish movie this is based on! It has a bit more religious undertones but it's still really good
Undertones? They weren't undertones. They flat out said the words "contagious demonic enzymes" that possessed people. That's not an undertone, that's using religion as the sole plot device. At first, it was scary because it seemed real, but then they turned it in to a fairy tale.

Rec is a superb "zombie" movie, especially at the time of it's release. The actors were so natural that it really got to me.

just saw the film. I have seen hundreds of horror films but this one got me sitting on the edge of my chair. It felt like i was in the movie. Its intense and scary, like i needed a minute after the movie to process what i just saw. It gets a solid 9/10 from me.
