One of them said "normally you don't talk with strangers in ballpits". Well that's the thing. Children do. Some of the best friendships are with strangers in a playground for a few hours until your mom takes you and you never see the person you just played with ever again. And yet when we grow up we do not do that anymore. We do not connect with other people, not even for a short while. We forget that everybody has a story to tell and we forget how to listen. That is sad.
Idk where u grow up or live to have such an isolated experience but, that's not true at all. There're plenty of people who u can make connection with in College, Work, even the random construction worker who's on their break would be surprisingly chill if u just greet them when u make eye contact… perhaps it's just you who's avoiding em, since u don't see the immediate value in doing it.
This was amazing! Sometimes we all need to just get off of our phones and make a friend, go make someone smile, serve others or just do something that will benefit others whether you know them or not because you don't know who they are or might be. You could maybe change their life just by being their friend! I challenge all of you to go out sometime this week and make a friend!!!!!!!!!!
Kylie Wyatt i agree with u 100%. thank u for speaking on my behalf and my feelings. i absolutely luv people! i dont care who you are i get along with everyone. i luv this video. it made me tear up. beautiful!!!! blessings to everyone!
The woman that said Martin Luther king gave me chills. Because you don't even see them as different. It's just two people and skin colour doesn't even come to mind. Love this video!
Nicole Leonard Omg we did the same thing!!! We had strips of paper with questions on them and we went to a person we didn't know that well and asked each other them
I'm sure most of you people who are thinking this is so amazing & awesome have had someone approach you at some point in your life to try to get to know you in some way, but you rejected their initiation of conversation. Don't deny it. You know you have. Myself included.
i have also accepted that approach and now 4 years laters her and I are best friends...i have also approached someone like that and 3 hours later we are really close!! also makes me regret the times i did reject someone
I know of people who are going through very hard times and are just hanging on. I certainly wouldn't judge them for not being able to take on a new friendship during this time in their lives. A little compassion goes a long way!
This is pretty cool experiment. There should be more ballpits in the world. Where people could meet different people and see the other persons point of view.
I love how all the people who are open enough to get into that ball pit have a great time while the others miss out on it...it perfectly shows how life goes...if you don't try things you will walk by and see the others having fun instead of having fun yourself...also I love the stories of those people who have all been through some moment in life where they changed their perspective so that they now know being open to get in that ball pit is great :)
I gotta admit, this is one of my FAVOURITE youtube videos of all time, seeing two people who barely know eachother forming a bond together setting a side their differences and celebrating their common things really touched me, this was a good thing they did. OMG MAKE A SECOND ONE!!! :D
This is great. We forget that the people we pass by on the street, in traffic, at the mall, wherever - they're PEOPLE. Each one has a complex and intricate life just like yourself, with a past, secrets, regrets, people they love, things they'd like to do.... when you start to notice that, develop an awareness of it and start to see more than just another face going by... that's where compassion is born.
+Fee _ To me NYC is a great place for viewing and a good time but the people here don't communicate . Thats why in my class we were doing a project to how we can make our community better . I though i could remake my community garden it's filled with garbage everywhere. I mean some people use it for barbecues and makes food for the homeless . So when the warm weather come I'm going to start it all over again and invite others to join me grow plants and a better community
Thanks soulpancake for you inspiration and tiny reminders that the world is still full of wonderful people and that happiness is a choice. I truly believe If anyone strives for a life full of happiness they must find love, ignore and release the negitivity and remember to replace it with anything positive. If others do not bring happiness to you, try giving them a gift of overwhelming happiness first. Remain dilligant and kind and the effects you witness will be amazing. The happiness that overflows from you will begin to spill over into that person and they become happier more and more. Pretty soon they are over flowing with such a joy and amazing transformation begins....they begin to spill happiness into that person and then the flow continues over and over. I gotta say that once that ball is in motion it is just as if a wave of goodnesss is moving though each of us. Happiness CAN Cange the world one person at a time. Thanks again for the daily reminders of why and how happiness is the cure! God Bless, Namaste, you rock! :-)
This was so perfect. If you sit in a ball pit you can only be relaxed, its comfortable and cheerful. The question balls open up the conversation without putting pressure on you to open it up yourself. We need to send a Ball Pit to Detroit! The city is in major crisis, this would create a bond with the people their! How can't afford not to make an extra friend? This was inspiring.
I absolutely love how the skater and the asian girl didnt get along at all. They didnt even show them hugging or anything at the end. The whole conversation must have been so awkward. "Its like bowling and sweeping!"
I think having the balls have different conversational idea's on them really helps with the awkwardness bit because it takes away the "um..what do I say bit" you instantly jump straight into a conversation.
Scripted or not, the meaning of this video is you letting go of your little ego, gather a little of your courage, smile and say hi to strangers in a closed envrionment. Example is talking to new colleagues in a new workplace. :)
This is the reason I subscribe to soulpancake. It makes one feel as though there is a lot of hope and joy in the world as long as you keep an open mind.
BrittanyBearPaws i dare u to create something like this. win win.life to short n only thing u take is memories go make 1 i dbl dare u too.if not ok but hope u have manny memories like this
You know the best part? This is possible without a ball pit people! Ironically, I found this video a day after I talked to a stranger and introduced them to Burger King of all things for the first time haha :)
This is a week after I invited a stranger into my home to crash on my couch. She had turned to me on the bus and asked about local hostels (there are none) or inexpensive hotels. I told her about one hotel I knew of and then had a crazy idea and invited her to my couch. She was visiting the States from Germany, which I didn't find out until after we were headed to my place. Now, I have a great friend from Germany! :D
Biggest flaw with this is that people outgoing enough to go and sit in a ball pit are probably going to talk to strangers just fine anyway, get some shy people in there
I’m actually really introverted but the situation made it easier. We had to find the balls with the questions and then answer them so it was more about completing the task than making conversation. Introvert approved :)
I agree. One was a punk rock kid & the other was a shy girl. Not the best mix but it definitely shows that this wasn't a set up & that not EVERYONE could become friends in the ballpit.
I Don't know how to describe my feeling after watched these scenes. I just believe that someday I would do the things like this no matter how, gathering all people, strangers, in one place and bind them in a relationship called LOVE~
I think someone off camera probably asked people if they'd like to be in a vid, so staged to that point yeah. I think its illegal to put anyone on film who does not agree. I could be real wrong 🤷
This is just beautiful. It shows what can happen when you open up to people, strangers in a world when sometimes you just see them as a face with a job and nothing else. Lets be friends people, only by letting people in we can find new ways to be ourselves.
please put these everywhere, they could fix so much. I love this channel and have for years and will until I'm gone. thank you everyone at @soulpancake for everything you do.💚💜💓💕💖💘💝💞💟✊✌👊
Hi! This video is awesome, and heart-warming. It would be extra nice if you could provide closed captions for this video. I'm deaf, and I reckon it'd be even more awesome if I could understand what all the people were actually saying to each other. Thanks! :)
This isbl so awesome and I wish the kind of stuff would happen more. Without a ballpit. I feel like everyone always has their guard up because of the negative things we see in the media. It gives us a bad view of people we do not know. And so we may be to scared to open up.just my thoughts.
I loved this video. This just shows you that you will never know when someone new will come into your life. Anther thing is that people are people, you may have things in common and you will have differences.
this is such an amazing tool... I used this today with my clients teaching about social interaction and they responded well to this... I had seen this before on Facebook and I enjoyed it then and I enjoy it now still! Thank you!
I think there is a religious theme behind this channel, and I am atheist, and I don't care. This is awesome, and heck yeah you can talk about Jesus in your ball pit!
Let's just roll with the premiss that this isn't staged for one second; I think these sort of events help to show how lovely human beings can be given the right circumstances. :) It made me feel good at least. It's interesting to see at the same time how different we are and how much we have in common.
From what I can tell it's a controlled environment with real strangers. The Navy mom has a piece of black tape over the Nike logo on her hat, which means whoever was running the booth made her cover it up. So, she didn't know when she left the house that she would be in the video otherwise she would have done her hair and not worn a hat. But it's also semi-staged because the people running it made her cover the logo up. You can tell by the looks on everyone's faces in the very beginning they are a bit uncomfortable but by the end everyone is pretty relaxed. So, for the most-part it's real, but it's not exactly a "hidden camera" scenario. I think it would be different if the environment wasn't controlled. Either way, it's a nice video and if you get nothing else from it, take the "conversation starters" with you the next time you meet somebody!
hi there! I`m from Austria, Europe, I am a teacher and I would like to install the ballpit, the way you dit it, as a schoolproject in our school! I would like to bring kids AND teachers AND parents AND headmasters together. The climate in school will sure get warmer..maybe a stupid question, because carpenters all over the world would know how to do it, but my ressources are thin and I would ask you, if you could share the "building-plan" of the ball pit. The material in your case would be wood and a glass-wall, right? And there is a bench alongside the wall, from where you enter the pit. For school purposes it has do be build save..thanks anyways!!! FOR THE INSPIRATION
With the corona virus going around, I sometimes forget how unique but similar everyone is. Being in quarantine makes you forget how connected we really are. I hope in the future human connection will not be hindered as much because of the pandemic.
That's pretty sad that the one guy felt he had to ask if he could talk about Jesus with a stranger. That's unfortunately the world we live in now, where people can get butthurt just from someone talking about Jesus.
At least he asked first, which is much more than can be said for a lot of people. And the fact that the man seemed to have no problem with talking about it was just as courteous
***** Well I'm not sure where you live, but here in Washington DC no one seems to have any qualms about speaking their mind when it comes to religion, especially non-christians. Muslims around here have no problem shoving their religion in your face, but when Jesus is brought up by some random all of a sudden no one can function. Sounds like a bit of a backwards double standard if you ask me.
Or maybe you just don't have a good rebuttal. That's alright though, that's a pretty common way to cop out when someone doesn't actually have anything real to say.
i feel like its a marketing gimmick too, think about it they acted like they r so comfortable talking with these strangers, their dialogue flow is smooth, the camera angles, and wht r the odds they didnt miss out the minorities: black, chinese and elderly? its like everything is planned out.
It would be great if it were real. Seemed a little fake. What set me off was the fact that everyone looked like they had make-up on...even the men. At least it looked like it on my screen.
I think it's because they probably filmed a whole day, and it's a five minute video, so we just see the best pieces. These are probably the nicest conversations that happened, and withouth the akward parts!
The no teeth pair reminded me of a a good mom & son relationship! If I didn't know this was an experiment I would've thought they were actually related! The Navy mom & girl in the green hoodie reminded me of a Mom/Mentor & a kid type relationship. And the old man w/ the hat & the young girl reminded me of a strong ld & young friendship :D
these videos inspire me so much. i wish we had things like this where i live. i love experiences like these. they're beautiful and change your outlook on life i believe 💖
Just wonderful idea, how to not only know better some stranger, but it gives You opportunity to take off the shield You sometimes put on to protect Yourself, not to show somebody how You really feel, and this gives you possibility to become free to contact with others to find the one of the precisest things in life - friends, friendship!
I've thought about this video since it first came out (really, that long). I'd love to make one of these in my town. I don't know how I'd keep people from trashing it, though (big college town; college kids are destructive). I received a tiny grant from my local Rotary club for a service project. I'd love to do something like this w/it. Any advice? Thoughts? How much did this cost? Help? Thanks SP!!
Love this video. Seen it many times. Still touching. Next Sunday (9/21) we have a ballpit in our town Best in The Netherlands on a social market. Someone made a container of wood and a childrens play palace lend us 2,000 balls. I'm very exited about it!!!
This is such an inspiration! Thank you SOULPANCAKE for going the extra mile to help others reach their success and happiness. I can not wait to share this video with friends and my leadership team!
Jefe uNkeeper Yes there was a camera but there was also a ledge built into the ball pit where you could sit. If we sat facing each other we would sink!
6 years later... we made a new ball pit video! Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/L6MRMUjKqYg/видео.html
1:39 when the two of them both showed their false teeth was cute
I know right
Yes omg!!!
I know♥
CerebralPrince10 yeah and when its totally scripted
I agree!
People (usually kids/teens/young adults, generally ofc) tend to make parents seem boring & dull but this really proved that wrong!
"I quit everything I ever tried"
LOL
"it's like bowling and sweeping"
that girl is hilarious
lmfaooooo

Kylie Wyatt thank you for watching and sharing this! we're so glad to have you part of the SP community, and keep being awesome! :)
Kylie Wyatt i agree with u 100%. thank u for speaking on my behalf and my feelings. i absolutely luv people! i dont care who you are i get along with everyone. i luv this video. it made me tear up. beautiful!!!! blessings to everyone!
That a little like me (getting along with people)
Lorna Brazzleton Yeah this is making me tear up right now myself.
Collin Hughes Aww Thx/Bless u! Smoochez
The whole world needs a giant ball pit to sit in...
EMarie61 Damn, that was deep. (no pun intended)
EMarie61 like a world gathering like (family gathering) and talk about saving the turtles and to stop litering
Skrrtvro really
I wonder if the teeth people got to see each other again (:
+ItsSoAli "the teeth people" LMAO. I hope they did tho
I don't know what else to call them😂
+ItsSoAli I would like to think they did... at the dentist ^-^
"The Teeth People" sounds like a movie on the SyFy channel xD
weenermeat Lmfaoo true
The woman that said Martin Luther king gave me chills. Because you don't even see them as different. It's just two people and skin colour doesn't even come to mind. Love this video!
my teacher showed the class this video today and now we are doing it with other students we don't know, it's entertaining for me.
+Nicole Leonard i remember watching this in health class 2 years ago
+Nicole Leonard I certainly hope they used a ball pit, that part is crucial, lol
Nicole Leonard Omg we did the same thing!!! We had strips of paper with questions on them and we went to a person we didn't know that well and asked each other them
@@candlecove7800 same! lol sorry if im late
same, my teacher just showed this video through online class
I bet if I had sat in there I would've been alone for two hours looking really pathetic... and lonely...
Boy Ron - looks like you would have a party because I would sit with you too :)
:)
awwwwww no I would have sat there with you :)
I disagree
I'm sure most of you people who are thinking this is so amazing & awesome have had someone approach you at some point in your life to try to get to know you in some way, but you rejected their initiation of conversation. Don't deny it. You know you have. Myself included.

Why would you come up with this conclusion.
I have never rejected anyone who tried to know me.
I know of people who are going through very hard times and are just hanging on. I certainly wouldn't judge them for not being able to take on a new friendship during this time in their lives. A little compassion goes a long way!
Oh, this is lovely, charming, and this will put a smile on your face. #aww
That was us. U&I.
Patrick C you want to skydive too? :)
Lets do this.
***** I only did as a kid ;)
It dose to me ??
This video brought tears to my eyes. I love it! If more people took time to connect with strangers the world would be a much better place.
Missy Army Veteran Fonirever!
Now, here's the twist: YOU DON'T NEED THE BALL PIT!
Insane right?! Go try it out!
Hahahahahahaha, IKR?
You blew my mind!
This is pretty cool experiment. There should be more ballpits in the world. Where people could meet different people and see the other persons point of view.
Bars work too,,,,,,,hahaha, just saying.
Yea why not?
I love how all the people who are open enough to get into that ball pit have a great time while the others miss out on it...it perfectly shows how life goes...if you don't try things you will walk by and see the others having fun instead of having fun yourself...also I love the stories of those people who have all been through some moment in life where they changed their perspective so that they now know being open to get in that ball pit is great :)

Whoa.

okay but the blonde drummer is really hot... just me? ok...
RIGHT
Nope I thought the same thing
Your comment was in one of the school’s slides alongside with an actually informative comment when we were analysing this video at school.
When you sit in the ball pit and nobody joins you... What do you do?
Shout ''I'M A BALL!!!!!!'' Then this voluntary worker has to come and calm yo ass down and talk with you.
Oh, i just lost my positiveness because of this comment....
take a piss in the pit and leave upset.
Get out some food and drink and just chill out in the ball pit.If there was a shade it'd be complete i could stay in there for hours
Maybe they will send a plant to you lol
They need this in New York!!! People are so rude, crude and selfish. They have this move out of my way attitude!
New York's so cool I want to visit it :>

Wonderful way to make contact. People are so cut off from one another and so afraid of connecting.
There is something so beautiful about striking up a conversation with a complete stranger.

"you've never been in a ballpit?!"
"no, never"
"you gotta go" ....as they sit in a ballpit...
this is the most heartwarming video i've seen in ages, faith in humanity restored
These are my favorite videos that Soul Pancake does. What better thing then making real friends and making authentic personal connections?
This is probably my favorite youtube video ever! Always makes me smile!! I wish they would make more of these! :D
I thought exactly the same thing =)
This made me smile. :)
:D :D :D
jojopinedaxd omg same
This is very cool, but still one can't help but wonder... is this staged?

I think there is a religious theme behind this channel, and I am atheist, and I don't care. This is awesome, and heck yeah you can talk about Jesus in your ball pit!
I love the conversations you can have with strangers and then find out something you have in common.
Wow beautiful. Friendship is one of the greatest gifts in life. We learn so much from each other.

Gosh, watching this years later... This needs to become a thing.
People are amazing when you take the barriers we build up away.
agh this made me cry haha I wish we could go through life like this
I'm an introvert so this could never work.
I think it would, you never know when somebody can make u come out of ur shell or who that person could be (:
Kristaly Ivelisse This is actually true :) Even Oblivious.
I am the exact same way haha.
I'm a shy introvert, even worse, and I would totally do this. You have to be open to new experiences, otherwise you never grow as a person.
Pete Thanks for your advise Pete. I've been trying but it will take time I guess.

This is an example of how we humans need each other!
That's unfortunately the world we live in now, where people can get butthurt just from someone talking about Jesus.
do you have a moment to talk to me about the Flying Spaghetti Monster?
At least he asked first, which is much more than can be said for a lot of people. And the fact that the man seemed to have no problem with talking about it was just as courteous
***** Well I'm not sure where you live, but here in Washington DC no one seems to have any qualms about speaking their mind when it comes to religion, especially non-christians. Muslims around here have no problem shoving their religion in your face, but when Jesus is brought up by some random all of a sudden no one can function. Sounds like a bit of a backwards double standard if you ask me.
Never said they were being persecuted, just said that people (like yourself, from your tone) get butthurt whenever Christianity is brought up
Or maybe you just don't have a good rebuttal.
Editing is magic, honey.
***** you're talking about Ken Lerner but the man in this video is definitly not him!
rockbecsworld37 Also hide the nike logo in the snapback of the woman talking with the young black girl is not casual at all.
This is amazing! I wanna join SoulPancake team!
I don't understand why anyone would dislike this awesome video...
Your videos always brighten my day and make me tear up! Thank you so much, Soul Pancake! Y'all are so inspiring.
I can't be the only one here for school lmao
That was touching :)
And the moral of the story is... wait for it... it takes a lot of balls to make new friends.
The smile on my face from this video is just so wide and permanent
This truly increases my hope for humanity. Thank you for creating this awesome Jesus inspired work. Blessings
why am I crying?
The no teeth pair reminded me of a a good mom & son relationship! If I didn't know this was an experiment I would've thought they were actually related!
The Navy mom & girl in the green hoodie reminded me of a Mom/Mentor & a kid type relationship.
And the old man w/ the hat & the young girl reminded me of a strong ld & young friendship :D
Soooo inspiring!
This brought tears to my eyes. :) Glad to see there's always people willing to make a better world out there.
these videos inspire me so much. i wish we had things like this where i live. i love experiences like these. they're beautiful and change your outlook on life i believe 💖

eFolio wooooooo
Wouldn't it be sweet if the person you meet in the ball pit will end up to be your soul mate or something? :D
Just wonderful idea, how to not only know better some stranger, but it gives You opportunity to take off the shield You sometimes put on to protect Yourself, not to show somebody how You really feel, and this gives you possibility to become free to contact with others to find the one of the precisest things in life - friends, friendship!
Thanks, man! you and all those guys were a part of something a lot of ppl are feeling good about after having watched. God bless...
Nice sentiment but it looks kinda fake?
Can you tell me the dimensions of your ball pit and how much it cost to make?
"Cause normally you don't hang out with strangers in ball pits" hilarious... totally made my day!
I don't understand how anyone can dislike a video like this. This makes me feel so good and warm!!
I wonder if any of these people kept in contact after this...
I can guarantee the people at 1:25 didn't keep in contact.
***** loving the guy though.. She was weird :P
Ylfa Nótt Ragnarsdóttir Talking out of the one-side of her mouth creeped me out.
Aww the tooth thing haha. Brw the blonde and asian looked uncomfortable
Nice idea. But do it without the editing so it's easier to tell if they are actors or not. This gave off a heavy vibe of being done by actors.
Definitely not actors. I’m just awkward bc I was sitting in a ballpit with a stranger. And bc I’m awkward in general :)
I watched this during school today and I keep rewatching.
Watching this in 2021 with the mess we're all in gives the experience a whole new layer of emotionality
Would have had much more impact if the random people....were not actors in makeup
Who te f*** is that cute guy sitting with te old blond woman without the teeth?!
LOL. This one had me in stitches.
Looks staged..jus sayin :/
Not sure
Dude, i completely agree with you...i don't know why people are so impressed with this. Some of these conversations don't even look natural.
This is such an inspiration! Thank you SOULPANCAKE for going the extra mile to help others reach their success and happiness. I can not wait to share this video with friends and my leadership team!
actors. fake.
Not actors :) The last time I acted was a rousing production of Stone Soup in 3rd grade. Sincerely, Octopus Girl
Danielle M
why are you all looking in front of you? to a camera? that really looks fake :/
Jefe uNkeeper
Yes there was a camera but there was also a ledge built into the ball pit where you could sit. If we sat facing each other we would sink!
There's a part where two guys DO sit completely facing each other. So many hidden cameras, zooming in and out on their own.
You are right. They are actors.
