This honestly made me tear up. West Jet- Thank you for showing us there is still good companies that prioritise their customers- It's always a pleasure flying with you!
I started crying before they even went shopping. Maybe Christmas "isnt supposed to be about gifts", but the happiness and sense of community and love between complete strangers that were created through those gifts is a wonderful addition to the holidays imo.
That was nothing but class. The person and or persons that came up with that idea need to be congratulated as you are a true champion of humanity. You need to be cherished by your workmates, family, friends, and peers as your heart is pure to the core and wouldn't believe for a second that it was solely for publicity. It will move anyone who watches it. Priceless!
To those who are getting worked up about this being a publicity stunt or marketing strategy or whatever you want to call it, stop being so pessimistic. We all know it's a marketing strategy. That's no secret. They need ways to grow their company if they want to make money after all. But the great thing about it is that rather than following the grain and just making commercials to advertise their product, they're getting creative and found a way to give back to their customers while doing so. It shows the character of the company and is putting a lot of people in a good mood. That's more than any other airline company can say they've done.
It's difficult to be cynical about this, it's a big company doing some clever marketing, but they've found a way to market themselves in a way that makes people happy. A great idea, and very warming.
Spirit Airlines will also be doing this same campaign. However, the cost of the gift will be billed to your credit card plus shipping and handling fees.
I'm a Muslim, so I don't even celebrate Christmas, but this was a pretty awesome thing to do. It's touching to see people work together to create happiness and to leave that holiday feel in every one. Way to go West jet.
Wow. I'm a grown ass man and I was literally fighting back tears. This was too nice and sweet. I think the little boy who was *SMART* enough to want an Android tablet... and the mom who got her camera, really did me in. Little gestures of kindness that mean the world to a lot of people. Wish more things like this could happen to ordinary people. WestJet get's many many kudos in my book!
Amen, brother. It's cool to see people receive kindness, and know that there are people out there who are willing to give that kindness freely. There are so many things in the world that make us despair that we forget that kindness is still around us.
Just remember; it was all a publicity stunt and the money they make in a day, to say nothing of the added business from good will generated by this stunt, more than covers the cost of all those gifts.
Arkham Creed Thanks so much for stating the obvious! EVERYONE knows it's marketing, but what a nice change from straight marketing to giving a little something back in return. What next, you going to tell us the earth is round not flat?
How can 2000+ people even dislike this video? This is sooo amazingg!!! It's really heartwarming how they made their customers happy for the holidays with the interactive Santa Clause. I cried when the baggage claim alarm went off and it started "snowing" and I saw the gifts going down the belt. I cried again when I watched the second and third time LOL.
Soo heartwarming, aww so adorable spending spending spending! Let's all spend more money we don't even have! Just keep promoting the overly commercial christmas...
This brought tears to my eyes... Makes me warm to be a Canadian, and to know that a company like WestJet takes the time to do something heart warmingly kind like this for its passengers.
WestJet: I live in Tokyo Japan and originate from Wales so regretfully have never used your airline. You have left me astounded by your generosity but the best gift you gave was that the spirit of Christmas lives on. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
When I watched this, I thought the interactive Santa was pretty awesome by itself. By the time I realized what was really going on, I couldn't keep from tearing up. Great thing to do. The gesture is amazing, regardless of the recipients. That Santa was seriously awesome and the fact that the employees looked HAPPY to be doing this was just the icing on the cake.
I get so teary eyed when viewing this video. West Jet was so amazing to do this for their customers. When it first was viewed in 2013, I thought what a wonderful gift. A year later, it still brings happiness of joy to see the look on their faces when they opened up their gifts. kudos to West Jet!!!
No need to cry, its possible only in dreams, no one in reality can fulfil the needs of all. Its just the advertisment enjoy it take the Idea. Thats it.
It seems a lot of people commenting on here think that helping the destitute during the holidays is the only way of showing true Christmas spirit. Do we just forget that everyone is entitled to a happy Christmas? We have to make it about particular people now? Yes it's a marketing move, but at the same time they put smiles on people's faces and the faces of their kids, which is what Christmas is about to me.
I can only imagine the absolute rush and chaos those WestJet employee's faced in those teams they had going out on Christmas Eve trying to round up all those gift's in a ~3 hour period, wrap and name each and everyone, ready to be giving when those passengers arrived. What a bloody amazing feat! Excellent marketing strategy as it probably only cost ~$100,000 verses millions in running commercials to achieve the same effect. Let the news agencies advertise for you these days.. . Why fit the bill yourself. That PR Advertising executive is a fucking genius! You could run commercials for an entire year across the globe and not achieve the same effect that this simple but very well planned out stunt achieved at a fraction of what it would cost to run advertisement's in multiply countries. Pure genius.
Wow this brought tears to my eyes..... Love to see people being so kind to each other and putting the Christmas Magic back in peoples hearts. When there are so many bad things in this world its so Amazing to see faith in Humanity restored!!!! Way to go West Jet!!!!!!
That was simply wonderful. What a wondeful way to wake up this morning. Nice to see some companys really know how to share that Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas Everyone.
Alberta Rose I didn't know it was 4 hours between the airports. I also meant, that they actually go out of their way to get people who they have never met, what they want, regardless of how much it costs, just to make them happy, and bring a smile to their faces. Now THAT is just amazing.
When you ask yourself "What's more important, buying a pair of used jeans and giving the difference to a homeless shelter?" or "What's more important, sewing a coat lining and getting another season out of it so you can give to an organization that helps prostitutes have a new life or buying a new coat" or "What's more important, reducing the amount of meat, increase the amount of vegetables in the stew and giving to a shelter for abused women or buying expensive cuts of meat" what WestJet does seems noble, not amazing.
Crazy-Q Adventure & Media I did not think so many People would agree with me. Actually what kills me is the ticket Home. I havent been home in 8 Years.
I thought even having Santa talk to the passengers was a really nice touch. To actually follow-up with presents was really incredible. Very impressive. If I ever have the opportunity to fly on WestJet, I will.
Ffs guys, stop saying words like it's marketing and advertisment. Everybody knows it but look at the brighter side of video, they made these people happy, it was just a good effort, just be more positive. Make all people happy whenever you can, especially it's Christmas Time. PEACE! :)
OK noteworthy now not "celebrity" hmm so good someone in the world believes Santa is real and if you get his autograph do let us know! (milk and cookies work I hear) lol
OMG! ROFL!!! Look up Khan! There! See? Ol' man Santa is coming for your house ! Hurry get the cookies ready, ya don't want a lump of coal?! Ho Ho Ho!! lol
When I feel sad or certain we have lost compassion for our fellow man, I watch this video to remember there are still good people who care out there. ❤
I'm watching this in 2020 during this terrible covid/corona year. So much loss of life and terrible situations for so many people across the world. This awesome video made me a bit happier. Wishing everyone a merry healthy Christmas this year.
I love how happy the “socks and underwear” guy was. It wasn’t about the price of the gift. It was about the effort people gave to make your wish come true.
Ahhhh I remember when people hugged each other. I miss that.
Me too . Miss it so much
Me too and i almost crying
Hug - nobody can ban it. Listen to your heart but not TV😬😊

I started crying before they even went shopping. Maybe Christmas "isnt supposed to be about gifts", but the happiness and sense of community and love between complete strangers that were created through those gifts is a wonderful addition to the holidays imo.

Bring back this type of Joy it's much needed in the world today..
I can't believe how sweet you were! I can't deny I cried like a baby! Merry Christmas from an Italian guy living in Poland!!! Well done guys!!!
Savv Fabb
Racist ingrate.
Out of all the gifts I saw there I like the free flight home one the best, came with a personalized letter and everything. What a good company
The manager with that idea needs a medal, he just make the kids happy and loyal customers for life
I still watch this one EVERY year! Westjet ROCKS!!! WestJet Santa is internationally famous!
Very emotional. This is how the world should be. Strangers caring for strangers . No fighting = a safe and happy world !
Spirit Airlines will also be doing this same campaign. However, the cost of the gift will be billed to your credit card plus shipping and handling fees.
This made me tear up..... Brings joy to know that people would do this.

Things like this keep my faith in humanity alive :)
I'm a Muslim, so I don't even celebrate Christmas, but this was a pretty awesome thing to do. It's touching to see people work together to create happiness and to leave that holiday feel in every one. Way to go West jet.
:)
Are you kidding who on earth could forget this Christmas gem!? Yep I'm back again this year, STILL LOVE THIS!!!!
Cool for the travelers, and good marketing for the company. Win. Win.
Wow. I'm a grown ass man and I was literally fighting back tears. This was too nice and sweet. I know... A little kid who understands why an android tabet is more useful than an iPad...
I actually used to know that kid, I forgot his name sadly!! He was such a sweetheart, I miss him!!!❤️❤️😂
I don't know why I cried! This just makes me so happy! :') I love seeing people give to others who would never expect anything. Great campaign.

Have you been at this flight?
Gawd I'm halfway crying. Faith in humanity restored :')
Just remember; it was all a publicity stunt and the money they make in a day, to say nothing of the added business from good will generated by this stunt, more than covers the cost of all those gifts.

This brought tears to my eyes... Makes me warm to be a Canadian, and to know that a company like WestJet takes the time to do something heart warmingly kind like this for its passengers.
For the last seven years, this is the way I start my holiday season. Thank you for making me a holiday tradition. I still get a tear in my eye.
Same here ..!
Just watched for the first time for 2023. Never gets old!
WestJet: I live in Tokyo Japan and originate from Wales so regretfully have never used your airline. You have left me astounded by your generosity but the best gift you gave was that the spirit of Christmas lives on. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
I am a Canadian. I fly Westjet several times a year. In case you're wondering, WestJet really does treat people like this.
I gotta say... this brought tears to my eyes.
More so... there is an airline that ACTUALLY CARES!?!
wow, that's incredible. I love seeing companies give back for things like this. This is what makes people care again.
Mike Wills
The reason is, Westjet is employee owned.
We know two things from this:
1- WestJet isn't an American company
2- Canadians have a weird colored Santa.
hahaha, I was thinking the same thing as #2
Who else is watching this in 2024?
I just did. It was in my Facebook memories from many years ago.
Best Christmas promotion ever!
@@anthonylewis6593 same with me 😊
Me. Every December 11th.

That poor guy who asked for socks and underwear lol.
Such an amazing video. Always loved flying with WestJet!
I still come buy and watch this to brighten my day...never gets old...
WestJet advertising genius. To get this much exposure for the cost of those gifts truly is a miracle.
Yep. And the thing is, I don't even care that it's a PR stunt, because it's an awesome one...
Why did this make me cry?? It's nice to know that not everyone in the world is full of anger and hate :')
This made me cry ♥ There are genuinely kind people out there

Okay, I know its past xmas, but I'm tearing up!! Well done, WestJet!
Wow, that's amazing. To think that they actually got everything in time and gave it to them, just wow.
The flight time was about 4 hours, and Cross Iron Mills in Balzac is not too far from the Calgary Airport.
Alberta Rose I didn't know it was 4 hours between the airports.

agreed to the every bit you have said !
This ad shows you did not need a celebrity appearance to brand your company. Kudos to the ad agency. Take that Air Canada!
Was waiting till someone thought Santa was a celebrity. A 1/2 one at that. Hilarious.
Ho Ho Ho!! lol
Oh man, this literally made me cry. just awesome .
When I feel sad or certain we have lost compassion for our fellow man, I watch this video to remember there are still good people who care out there. ❤

Returning every year and it has still the same impact. Invisible ninjas, cutting onions around me. Thanks WestJet.
I'm watching this in 2020 during this terrible covid/corona year. So much loss of life and terrible situations for so many people across the world. This awesome video made me a bit happier. Wishing everyone a merry healthy Christmas this year.
That what so surprising, it's a mix emotions, heartwarming...wish i'm one of them & it would come again!
I don't care if it's cheap marketing..it made quite a few people happy and that's pretty nice.

Revisiting as we approach Christmas 2023 - still one of the best surprises ever
Everyone is starting to do these 'giving back' videos because they know they are the most viral. Big ups to the marketing team for WestJet. :)
This made me so happy I'm crying what
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I love how happy the “socks and underwear” guy was. It wasn’t about the price of the gift. It was about the effort people gave to make your wish come true.
