man... i used to work at the limelight lounge in geelong,,(start to finish)..and chris was amazing....grew more of and understanding of just plain good music when i was there...and the funny thing is, im getting older and was thinkng about trying to learn and instrument...and saw chris is a harmonica teacher in geelong..so typed his name in google and here i am.... sweet...
I suppose we all have different tastes in what we like. Some like to listen, some like to dance, some like to play! The world would be a boring place if we all liked it all the same way.
Hey um if any of you listen to crawdaddy on RRR I was wondering if you knew what guitarist played with Chris W on the opening to track to crawdaddy's show, 'born under a bad sign'. And awesome song! with great harp and guitar playing :)
Well I have quite a bit of Shannon over the years playing with Chris Wilson, also Geoff Achison and also his own band, just got to get him to look at it and hopefully will post some of it. I think there is some footage of Shannon playing with brod smith on youtube. Type brod smith into the search and I think you'll find it. Cheers Rooster
I can't stop listening to this. Fuckin' unreal. Great guitar and of course vocals and harp. I wish I could see him live. Is this guitarist still with Chris Wilson?
What about the playing of Shannon Bourne - gotta be one of the finest players in the country! (This clip'd be around 2003 - he's going from strength to strength - maturing nicely). Anyone know of any other videos with Shannon playin'?
I could listen to this bloke singin anything....ALL. NIGHT. LONG. You go to a pub gig and see Chris Wilson and you dance. It's pretty basic blues but it's the atmosphere and a bit o wiskey..and good company, u know. But this gig does seem to be pretty low key and routine or something. There are those nights i spose. I think the guitarist did a seminar in one of the music courses I did and he hinted that the travelling, doing gigs became a bit over the top and tiresome.
Been there--many, many times--but too much becomes boring and repetitive. CREATIVITY becomes INDIVIDUALITY ! An ear and a tight band finds a new direction and goes with it. I've been at this music scene for 56 + yrs. and the one thing that turn's me off to the BLUES ( as much as I love singin' and playin' it ) is the monotone repetitiveveness. I'm not suggesting shredding either--just more CREATIVITY !
The poor vocals ruin this version - the singer should stick to harp..... Guitar player good but more of a rock player.....still it's good....can't deny that.
He had a beautiful voice. Ive been a vox for 30 years and I know my shit. Everyone has low nights. He often played many nights to a pub with a few people in it....often one of those people was me. Idiots preferred the wine bars with singles hookups.
Vale Chris Wilson (1956 - 2019). RIP
Poor bastard. He was great.

As a matter of fact this is in the key of G. Played in cross with a C harp. But it is CW he can play any key on any harp!

It sounds like a roaster 👊
Any chance you know what key this was being played in?
6 minutes is short for a blues song.
Sorry I'm not musical so wouldn't have a clue. Aren't all blues in G haha!

Meh.
Kudos to the harp--vocals and guitar --you might want to listen to yourselves--tune is too long.
Nooooo Waaaaaay!!!!!!!!!
