What an interesting incredible talent. When people reply to posts like this and say that they were there at some point in his life ,,,, and he did this shit !!! I'm totally honoured to be one of those.
Much respect......saw him at the continental, not this recording, a bit after this.I did see him at the Espy in the 90's, my mature student, scrapping to get by days. I saw him quite a few times, and I was privileged to do this. I used to see him in pub, next to the big shoe in Carlton, about mid to late 90's, him and Shane O'Mara, no stage, in the lounge just playing, a Tuesday night, I think. Mondays were cheap drinks in St Kilda, at the Prince of Wales. He was just sitting on a chair, in the lounge performing. Young 17 to 22 year old students just walking by, about a foot in front of him, but it was a very chilled vibe though… I think. Just sitting on a chair,The man had passion, and respect, and manners. On one of the occasions, at the Espy, I saw him jump off stage to grab a guy that had pushed a woman, in front of the small front bar stage. Stern, direct, and forthright words were exchanged. No punches thrown. I’ll never forget it. The band didn't miss a beat, he got back on stage and finished the set.it was the middle of winter in Melbourne. A hellish trip on a motor bike to see him play. But very well worth it.Anyway, just some memories......
Man I never knew of his passing, I bought a copy of Wilson Diesel back in the nineties and loved it, still on my play list. Thank god in this age we can still listen a master like this at any time... One day when life slows down I'll pick up the harp and take those lessons with Chris in mind. RIP
I used to see Chris Wilson at the Royal Derby Hotel in Fitzroy many years ago...lets say over 25 years now and he was awesome then. I think the best harmonica player in Australia.
Heya Chris! I REALLY hope you're reading this - I met you when you were playing every Wednesday night at the Old Colonial on Brunswick st.when I was a wee lass of only 21 years of age - ten years ago now - and had NO idea of the lessons you were giving me in the blues - since knowing you I've taken my own music to a whole new level - knowing you was one of the hi-lights of my life in Melbourne. With all my heart - THANKYOU, and god bless. Pickle ~ the gal who lived upstairs with the blue guitar.
What a magnificent recording this was Chris! It was given to me as a gift by Jim Dyson soon after it was released and it is to this day still enjoyed equally every time i play it.

No argument with that. He tells the sorry true.
Jim Conway of course will always be the best, but Chris Wilson is in the same company.

Brilliant pairing of Chris & Shane! A perfect arrangement.
You've got to see him live. He doesn't need a mic, his voice booms and grabs you by the balls. The Album is superb, I just dusted it off.

A great live performer, worth seeing every chance you get.
