Martha is so underrated. She saved the Doctor’s life when they first met, she was smart, and had a firm understanding of so many of the things that the Doctor spoke about and showed her, she even was tasked with protecting the Doctor when he used the fob watch to be become human, she even helped save the Doctor in the end of the series, and another reason that sets Martha’s apart from other companions is that she chose to leave him of her own free will. Martha is underrated because after all she did, the Doctor didn’t always appreciate her as much as she deserved and he took her for granted in some respects; he brought up and went on about Rose several times over their journey together. He took Martha to one or two of the same places he’d taken Rose, lied to her that his home planet Gallifrey was destroyed, and not to mention he didn’t treat her much like a companion until after the Lazarus experiment - “fancy a trip; one more trip.” Like Martha said in the end when she left - even though it was about her friend - she fell in love with the Doctor and he didn’t notice or even care much about it, so she took her own advice and got out. Series 3 is definitely one of the best of Doctor Who.
My favorite companion but the doctor didn't love any of his companions really, he wasn't looking for love... Only exception was rose and that's mainly his human clone because he felt bad for her. The "fancy a trip" thing he did for tons of companions too, he even threatened to send them home like with amy pond. He straight up snapped at pond and said she was never going on another ride in the tardis, just straight up disowned her for something she didn't even remember doing... "Nobody human has anything to say to me today" and something along the lines of "you're done after this trip, you're going back home for good". He even basically straight up killed her echo. He treated martha like a queen and even somewhat wanted a romantic relationship with her but was fearful after what happened just happened to rose. As for lying about gallifrey, he too did that with most companions, it's a sensitive subject...
I wholely believe that human nature was the best episode of season 3. It’s heartbreaking to see John Smith’s reluctance to give up on the life he never truly had, and it challenges Martha’s character on such a level that she for the first time begins to realise just how imposing a life with the doctor truly is. Not to mention the music is just beautiful.
19:16 The Lazarus Experiment is a criminally underrated episode in my opinion. You get to truly see how tired the Doctor is. How sick he is of living and fighting, while everyone he knows and loves grow old or leave. He is a real immortal. Born to suffer, cursed to live. He knows the true burden of living forever.
Being in the middle of Rose and Donna, it's understandable why Martha is often overlooked, but she was arguably one of the best companions of the doctor

Martha is without a doubt, my favourite companion of the modern era. She’s also the most underrated too. She had intellect beforehand which came in handy during adventures and she was more mature than most other companions and was very brave at times, such as when she walked the Earth for a year while it was under siege by the Master and avoided being caught so she can spread the Doctor’s message. She only got caught in the end because she let herself get caught, and how she bravely demanded that the Daleks tell her what is going on. A really solid series exploring more of the fire of the lone Time Lord, so sure that he is the sole survivor of the Time War, convinced that all other Time Lords became truly evil in the end. Massively unhinged from losing Rose and finding a rebound in poor, loving Martha, he unknowingly destroys her family's life and causes them untold suffering just because he wanted someone to adore him and to be able to show off. Some great 2 part stories, and after a so-so start, every episode from the Dalek 2 parter onward is a great time, with Lazarus being a low point but providing a needed return to modern time to start the Master's arc.

I always shudder when i think how horrible it would be to live for billions of years, always sad when i see Jack. The Torchwood series overall is so good, but so many of its stories have that same element of being my worst nightmare, so hard to rewatch, not gonna stop though
I know I'm in a minority (or maybe I should say "we" since most of the comments here are with me on this?), but Martha was genuinely always my favourite and I was really sad to see her go. I may not be transgender but I follow & are friends with people who are, people who mean a lot to me.
Yeah she is so hateful
JK has fought for WOMENS right. Not men pretending to be women. Good on her
I always shudder when i think how horrible it would be to live for billions of years, always sad when i see Jack. The Torchwood series overall is so good, but so many of its stories have that same element of being my worst nightmare, so hard to rewatch, not gonna stop though
Anybody else remember when Shakespeare called Martha _"Queen of Afrique"_ ? That line has been entirely erased from history...
53:10 the face of Bo they called me the doctors face was like oh wow

Best of the best
My first dr who love Martha Jones xx
I don't blame you at all.
Most underrated series of the new run
Series 3 was my favourite
Absolutely Fantastic!
Uma das melhores temporadas! ❤️
I know I'm in a minority (or maybe I should say "we" since most of the comments here are with me on this?), but Martha was genuinely always my favourite and I was really sad to see her go. I guess Rose was just too much of a chav for me to 'connect' with her (and Donna was just too comically exaggerated moat of the time). Whereas Martha is properly educated, on the verge of being an _actual_ doctor, and as such clearly a creature of intellect. I mean, I took a stab at med school myself, and I can absolutely confirm it's not for just any regular half-brights out there (I flunked!).
