You honestly could fit the whole of Heaven Sent in here and I don’t think anybody would mind
I was just thinking "is this just a full upload of Heaven Sent?"
To be honest, it wouldn't be an inaccurate video either.
Heaven sent was among my favourite doctor who parts
Right, heaven sent is my favourite episode, Capaldi being my favourite doctor
BBC might. They might mind.
@@Ivvelis I mean the ''doctor who official youtube channel'' is owned by the bbc, what you on about? xd
The doctor sipping tea in davros’ chair will forever be iconic
It gets worse when you realize there's no tea leaves on Skaro.
@@lavasqrl702 “Now, the real question is: Where did he get the cup of tea? Answer: I'm the Doctor. Just accept it”
@@tokublwhovian he had it in his pocket
@@wyrdvora He always kept his Teaspoon
In there too. 😉
Admit it, you've all had this nightmare."
I loved having two-parters back to back, the stories got to play out well. Heaven Sent was a grand Peter Capaldi masterpiece. 55 minutes of him being the only person in the episode, talking his way out, the breaking the wall sequence. It was a magnificent performance!!!
I personally wasn’t too fond of the two- part thing, but I liked certain elements of it.
@@obiwankenobi687 I honestly didn’t notice the format, except for in season 9, which actually did have one stand alone episode. Stories take as long as they need to. The thing I hope improves when RTD comes back is writing, not really format.
I actually quite enjoyed Series 9 specifically because it felt like a taste of the Classic Who format where EVERY story had multiple parts.
To be perfectly honest, Series 9 is my favourite of the Capaldi era. Not just the increase in two-parters and longer storytelling, but also the dynamic bonding between the Doctor and Clara. Highly underrated from start to finish!
Honestly the show could have ended after the husband's of river song and I wouldn't have complained absolute peak doctor who can't ever top the doctor going back home only to steal a tardis and run away again
The second he picked up a guitar, he solidified a fan for life. Honestly, though, it was the 11th doctor calling Clara at the end of his first episode and telling her to give him a chance to gave me the reassurance that he was gonna be a good Doctor, and he was truly great. Wonderful memories. I hope he comes back for the 60th anniversary. I miss him. Who am I kidding, I miss all the new series Doctors, and Tom Baker from the old seasons. All of them have been amazing in their own way.
That was his own guitar playing
I hope he comes back, too.
For me, Peters portrayal was the best ever. The writing was somewhat patchy, but his 12th Doctor was amazingly nuanced.
I did not like Capaldi initially, compared to the other’s from the reboot. But man, did that change! I think he - and Jenna - were the crown of DW! The Doctor did love Clara so much. As he helped her even as she betrayed him with the Tardis key. As he kneeled for her live in front of Davros. And then, as he endured millions of years of torture to not deliver her to the timelords. I’m crying.
And the scene, where Clara just says that he changed his mind - to help the people - just because the child stopped crying. And she simply knew that!!!!
@@CliffLewis28 Yes, I still cannot understand why they did only 10 seasons for the reboot. So silly
Brilliant series. Peter and Jenna were both on their A game and the directing is some of the best the show ever had.
Heaven Sent is truly something special.
@Tom We get it, you hate everything good. No need to try to make others miserable too.
@Tom Try to move on and watch (well, complain) about something else 😊 yeah?
@Tom glad to see a respectful fan of other people opinions
“Of course the real question is, where did I get the cup of tea? Answer: I’m the Doctor, just accept it.” The greatest line ever.
Timelord technology. All of his pockets are bigger on the inside.
The frustration and pain Capaldi worked into the part, yet behind his eyes shows love, kindness and protection for anyone made him my doctor.
Phenomenal actor who's heavily under-appreciated.
It's been years since Twelve, but I still miss him everyday. Series 9 was one of the strongest series of Doctor Who, with Peter being a big reason why it was that good. Jenna is also at her peak as Clara, and overall, just a solid series.
Please come back for the 60th Peter, we miss you
I might be a loser for this, but as soon as Masie Williams' character became immortal for whatever reason, and when he forgot about Clara's existance, is when I stopped watching it.
@@c0222 I thought it was actually a good writing decision because it shows a consequence of meddling with time and events, a theme which is in the forefront of series 9, what with Clara becoming more and more like the Doctor and meddling with events.
That said, your opinion is totally valid. Wrong, but valid 😆😆😆
I like that in Day of the Doctor, Bad Wolf says that Tennant is the man who regrets and Smith is the man who forgets, but then in Series 9 we have Capaldi, the man who remembers.
Back during the Bad Wolf story arc, somebody in my area decided to get the custom license plate B4D W0LF. So I pull up behind this car at a light, and I notice the license plate. Immediate sense of panic. I start looking around at the road signs, billboards, etc. to make sure they were normal.
I just noticed something for the first time: when Rassilon gives the order to shoot, he turns away so he doesn't have to watch the violence being done at his command. As a result, he doesn't notice that the violence is not in fact occurring, until after all of the firing was complete. That subtly changes the timing of the scene, thereby making it a better cliffhanger.
Everybody talking about how brilliant Heaven Sent is as an episode. And I completely agree, it's brilliant acting. But we cannot forget The Zygon Inversion?? The speech about war is the best speech ever in Doctor Who! Capaldi deserves an Oscar
Yeah, one time when I was bored I was just watching Doctor Who clips at 3am and for some reason the Zygon Inversion speech made me cry.
Unpopular opinion, but the War Speech is overrated and I've heard it way to many times
@Lucy maybe unpopular, but still valid :) I get like that with popular songs sometimes. Hear them too many times and I hate them after a while
@@emilyorton8248 yeah. I also find it annoying when people reference it for real wars, considering the speech is *actually* pointless in a real war with real violence
@@wyrdvora I think it's more the message that violence does t solve anything, and that war always, inevitable, ends in diplomacy and peace talks. That's why people apply it to real war
Missed one: the scene right after, when the broken Doctor finds his own Tardis, finds his last message from Clara and starts to move on. Peter's acting and Murray's music are perfect here. "Face the Raven", "Heaven Sent" and Hell Bent", as a trilogy, are as good as it gets. "Heaven Sent" may be the best single episode in the series' history. 12 rules! And I will always remember my Impossible Girl.
Definetly my fav Capaldi series. I adore 12 and Clara together, they're amazing along with the brilliant episodes
@Tom The ones this person likes. Stop being annoying lmao
@Tom Sorry Tom, I forgot we must all have the EXACT same opinions as you...

I still miss the 12th doctor.
I still miss the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th doctors. But, I’ve moved on and accepted change is a good thing.
I miss him too.
Me too. I hope he comes back for the 60th
I miss him too. He was my first Doctor, and he embodies the kind of person I wish to be: kind, calm, smart, never cruel, never cowardly, and when he was, he always made amends.

Capaldi is actually so good
Without a doubt, after rewatching the whole show I realised he was the best, definitely my favourite
He was my first Doctor, and will always hold a special place in my heart. He is the kind of man I wish to be
The peak of NuWho!!! Say what you will about that finale, but this series had the most consistent run of the entire NuWho.
It had the strongest characterization, the most emotional storylines, and the reintroduction of some classic characters here serves a purpose, not just some throwaway cameo.
Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman’s dynamic have been the strength of this series.
@Tom you make a compelling argument however you are wrong
@Tom My favourite way of arguing on the internet is just saying my opinion and refusing to back it up. Good to know there are more people like me.
Yeah you're right. The show declined after series 9....
@@thedoctor3161 *after series 10
@@Milk88488 Yep.
I hope Peter Capaldi and Katherine Tate are apart of the 60th and there being a moment when Donna says something along the lines of, "you chose to save people, I can see it in your face"
Imagine the amount of bantering between those two.
Oh these two together would be brilliant
I feel like this series is probably the best of all time due to the variety and also the fact that Heaven Sent exists
Series 9 is the series of iconic speeches
Amen
To be fair, yeah. But props to all the others, as they hit just as hard :)
@@jdottdeestv8149 this is true
WOW laugh till my sides split, cry till my tear ducts were empty. The Doctor and Clara episodes were some of the best I have ever watched and I have been watching Dr Who for decades I'm only 55 years young, long may it continue.
Underrated series. Absolutely brilliant. Every episode was brilliant.
@Tom that’s your opinion. I thought they were brilliant. You keep your opinions to yourself and don’t start arguments.
The Dalek, Ghost and Zygon two-parters plus Face the Raven and Heaven Sent were all brilliant but sadly the rest verged from kind of dull to an incoherent mess. Still really enjoyed the series overall though.
@Tom that’s my opinion.
@Tom Yeah, he is. Deal with it.
@@tokublwhovian thanks for supporting me. I hate it when people start arguments over something trivial. We all have different tastes
This just serves to remind me of just how truly, masterful Peter Capaldi was in the role.
Indeed he was!
Missy tickling that Dalek will always be iconic
Best Era of the show.
Series 9 will forever be the GOAT
My favorite series right up there with series four. Love when there’s no romantic tension and the companion and the Doctor are just two best friends traveling the galaxy together.
Blame Russell T Davies for 9/10, Rose and Martha.
Well, the Doctor said it best. "Love isn't an emotion. It's a promise." Can you get more simple than that?
I recently realised that there are no bad stories in all season 9. After all when they did it, it was supposed to be tha last Moffat's one, it had to be fantastic.
I think the Ashildr two parter and Sleep No More are disappointing episodes but don't make the like the series any less
9 wasn't THAT good, had some serious lows but some crazy highs
“You should never believe a man about a vehicle.” No more accurate words ever spoken 😂
Listening to Capaldi do the anti war speech when innocent people are dying in Ukraine every hour makes it really hit home. It was powerful when I first heard it. Today it’s heart wrenching.
Same. When I first heard it, I shed a tear. Now, its just all that more powerful
Unfortunately that doesn’t even apply. Putin knows he’s wrong, he knows he’s not making anything better. He’s just out there to make his mark on history. He knows we will remember what a cowardly dictator he has been for many years.
@@loglog7 You’re right. Months of perspective has shown what an absolutely evil coward he is.
I always wondered why Rassilon was a different actor than last time we see him.
then I realized just now, The Master likely killed him with his lightning at the end of Tennants arc.
According to some of the expanded content he actually made him regenerate by shoving white point stars down his throat.
Missy tickling a dalek is priceless
Capaldi’s era was just pure top tier. And he carried it all
Series nine is one of my absolute favourites I love it so much
12 and Clara saddest story ever.. Can't get over them..
right from the start after the comment on not liking the colour of his new kidneys and sniffing out the chalk i liked this doctor
The series that started light and humorous and got darker and darker as each episode went on. A masterpiece? Possibly
@Tom seethe
I really miss Clara...
Her and Twelve's friendship was one of the most beautiful things I was ever able to witness on TV......
Also 45:08 is one of the quotes that always kill me... 😅😭😭

How did we get from heaven sent, probably one of the greatest doctor who episodes of all time, to the damn timeless child???
The Timeless Child is way better than Heaven Sent
@@justsomerandomguyonline1144 cap🧢🧢
The people who made Heaven Sent cared about their craft. The ones who made Timeless Child didn't.
@@ptonpc Chibnall grew up on the show like Moffat and RTD before him. So, I think he does. He just wanted to take it into a different direction, like many others have and he’s allowed to that. If you restrict writers from trying new things, the show will get stale and boring also never grow.
Heaven sent is the best episode and Capaldi is my doctor
@Tom Better than anything RTD put out.
@@tokublwhovian no it’s not
@@justsomerandomguyonline1144 In my opinion, it is. Learn to accept that we all don’t think or like the same.
He’s my doctor too! The finest actor to ever take on the role and this season had some of the greatest episodes in the history of Who.
I love that line:
“I’m the doctor, I save people and if anyone has a problem with that…TO HELL WITH YOU!!”
The way these words are spoken, best exemplifies what the twelfth doctor represented. Peter Capaldi wrings every ounce of his doctor’s essence out of that realization.
5:47 “I’m definitely having his chair” 😂
Capaldi is arguably the best actor to play the doctor and his speeches and solo bits are almost always incredible
Missy groping the dalek’s casing says everything about her character
"Because it's not a game, Kate. This is a scale model of war. Every war ever fought right there in front of you. Because it's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know who's children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken! How many lives shattered! How much blood will spill until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning -- sit down and talk! Listen to me, listen. I just -- I just want you to think. Do you know what thinking is? It's just a fancy word for changing your mind."

I don't for a second believe that the Doctor would have left Clara's body laying dead in the street.
We need peter capaldi as the doctor and jenna colman as clara again. I think everyone agree
Capaldi, yes.
Coleman, no.
Capaldi Yes. Coleman No. Personally, I felt Clara's story was done during Matt Smith's era. It would have been more interesting if the Clara's we met after that had been fragments of the 'original'. You would not need her to survive an adventure, or she could go off at the end. Even character continuity could be varied, the fragments don't need to have the same personality etc.

Having the 12th Doctor stay on Gallifrey and make great improvements to both the planet and people would’ve been a great idea. Seeing the Doctor reform Gallifreyian society, encourage trade of both culture and technology, sense of fashion and have them see the universe as he and humans see it.
