Ronnie Sutton Sounds like you want a cookie. Good for you.. you’ll think about this later in life and be floored. Who cares who’s making money right now. For you to hate on anyone right now is far from necessary. Imagine you in his shoes... what does he have for income right now? What he is doing could be needed for him.

I'm here today because I just lost my nephew to this. Sweetest kid who turned into a sweet man. He came back from Afghanistan so messed up mentally from PTSD though. All of us just don't understand how he was in treatment in a facility..but still got ahold of it somehow. He leaves behind 2 Parents..a Wife and 2 Boys. He was much more than a drug addict. A Veteran..a Husband..Father and a Son.

He is talking facts. My dad along side your son are in Fathers house now. Im sorry ur nephew o.d.ed . It hurts us a lot , they're out of the flesh now and I believe at real peace for once and all literally, all literally, they're spirit bodies or souls mabey in a different dimension, we can't know that.but we who love God DO know they are personally in touch with Our Father. Peace eluded him on earth so be sure Father knows ALLabout it. And its said by Paul we can't fathom what it is like to b with God. God will bless those kids and make sure of that. Take care, dont stress too much if u can help it. In a short time we all are there, God's not forgetting anyone that loves Him. Ps overdose is by far the hardest to deal with, keep God informed on how ur doing, I try 24 7 but thats not ever gonna happen. He marks honest try as well as easy done. Don't ever give up mentally and there's soo many of parent /loved ones going through the exact thing ur. Keep God in mind as much as u care to. If I talk to Him in my head or under my breath or out load the day goes happy, im happy so it might sound selfish but its a different high than a drug, u can feel whats right , thats God's Spirit, I think. Good to meet u have a great time here and help the brethren much love!

@ronniesutton: For those of us with a recovering junkie to manage, this line is a struggle. I have been fascinated to see how active junkies relate to Lou Reed and others who write about addiction -- it's a subculture that I have glimpsed online and in speaking with my husband when he is is high or actively using. Heaven help you. it may be that being high is the best you are going to get. If so, I hope you live and die without unnecessary pain and trouble, though I don't think this is likely. Based upon my observation of my husband's experience, I think most addicts suffer terribly.

I'm still amazed I didn't die. I'm grateful for every day that I live now, one day at a time. Most amazing of all, I've been doing that for 39 years. Deeply grateful.

Try doing about $80 - $150 a day, without missing a day's work for 3+ years. THEN "kick" without crying out for help because it would cost your Job, House, Family. Cold Turkey is probably worse than a bullet. I did it without losing my Job or seeking professional help back in mid 2013. Absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done and the pain and misery can't even be told or explained. It is beyond words. Religion helps, but even then you feel the double misery that God has forsaken you. I have sympathy and empathy for ANYONE who get strung out. My compassion is now greater than at any time in my 60 years. Neil hit it just right with this song. God help the addicts. This beautiful song is bittersweet to those who have fought a serious addiction. Thanks Neil...

Did my 12 hours in the ER today and was about to come home to my family when a guy drove up onto the sidewalk by the ambulance entrance and unfolded an unconscious wet rag of a man out of the passenger seat of his car onto the concrete. Barely breathing, but with a strong carotid pulse. We lifted him up onto a gurney and brought him inside. I am going to say thank you for Narcan right now. I started an IV and gave a dose and watched this man re-enter the world of the living. He was baffled and confused when he woke up in the bright lights surrounded by strangers and me taping tubing to his arm and speaking respectfully to him. Orienting him to where he was and what had brought him to me. I wrapped him in warm blankets and and kept talking to him. Soon he had stopped shivering and we were talking. His sisters came in to check on him. A man he works for came to be with him. The man has a one year old baby. He has a wife. He helps people as a mechanic in a rough, low income neighborhood. I genuinely liked him. He has a sweet spirit. I wish for him that he will put value in being alive and kick this.

my soul little brother got taken by heroin. In Philly, a bad batch came through and killed hundreds. Here's the thing. He had attempted suicide by overdose a year before. I went to see him in the hospital. He told me he was tired. That heroin robs your brain of the ability to feel pleasure. Life had exhausted everything in his soul. I think he wanted permission to go. Sadly, I tried to encourage him to live. He took that bad heroin on purpose. He was one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. Yes, he knew he was a setting sun. For a long time, too.

1 month ago I was in that hellish nightmare of Fentanyl withdrawals-violently puking in a sleepless, hopeless state of nothingness for 7 days, praying only to die. Today I have 30 days clean. I had to COMPLETELY give myself to a program of recovery, and do some serious soul searching. Along the way I develop a loving relationship with a higher power that I could understand, I let go of selfishness n self pity, and learned doing for others feels better than any drug I’ve ever done. DO NOT GIVE UP-EVER. I am proof it is possible, something I never believed before. Today I am truly happy. My life is far from perfect-I have family fighting cancer, a daughter that hasn’t spoken to me in years…But I’m alive today, and have a lot more to be grateful for than I ever realized. And I trust the other things will work themselves out as long as I keep close to a god of my understanding(nobody else’s) and keep doing the next right thing. I love you, and pray you find some peace, and allow God to help you through your struggles. It is ok to ask for help-I tried for 20+ years and it never worked until I could COMPLETELY SURRENDER, and humbly ask for help! Praying for you my friend ✌️❤️🙏. You CAN do this!! And are absolutely worth it!

I'm just sitting here reading the comments on a great but painful song. I'm tying to quell the tears and pain, and at the same time full of relief and love for my son who almost lost the battle. Oxys, crack, fentanyl, hydromorphs. Until he first used the needle he wouldn't even go to a dentist unless they agreed to use gas instead of putting a needle in his mouth. Then, in the blink of an eye.. the needle became his best friend. I was heartbroken. And so was he. Now, through a great struggle through the legal system and his own vulnerability, he has been clean for almost 3 years. I am so thankful. So relieved. He was lost but now he's found. Sometime it takes many attempts to beat the beast down. Never give up hope.

Those are two powerful, important, and major parts of life. I'm sorry that I come off like a dick but I've had a couple drinks tonight and going through the comments like you, this made me pause and wanna stop and say something. This is not a joke, life is to be cherished, and hindsight is always 20 20. You don't know me but I love you both. I'm upset that there are drugs out there that can kill us, for starters.

My Dad's been dead more of my life than he was alive. HOW Neil Young could perfectly channel what others must feel, I don't know, but I know this much is true ...never did I imagine how many beautiful gifted empathetic artists I knew would die-just-like-the one-before-and-yet-to-be. Hell is never a choice is it? Perhaps it's true. We each choose our own demise. Why choose this???

It's just a wierd thing with me I know, but I just want to hear only the song from the first note to the last. After its over, go nuts. Scream, cheer, whistle, whatever. Just let the song play uninterrupted in it's entirety. I also hate on the radio when DJs talk over a song right up until the vocal starts. I have hated that since I first started listening to music way back in the '70s. Rant over.

If your fighting. Keep fighting. Never stop. There are many who are in your corner whether you believe it or not.

In 2014, while I was working as security for The Country Music Hall of Fame, I had the pleasure of escorting Neil throughout TCMHoF. Such a humble, insightful individual. I've listened to Neil since the late 70s and been to many of his concerts, so I was in awe to be able to be in the presence of this musical icon and wonderful humanitarian! Thank You!
