My 103-year-old mom just died yesterday. I spent a lot of time with her at her residence over the last two years and one of things we really enjoyed was playing this song and singing along together. She loved it. Yesterday, just hours before she passed, my sister and I played it once last time for her. Doubt this will be read, but I’d like to share it. I’m 13 years old and this summer, as I was walking back from the beach to my beach house, my father was playing this song. It was only him and I, and we had a really nice conversation. Hearing Neil Young sing was like something I’ve never heard before. As we arrived to the house, I asked my dad the song name. I then discovered, “Harvest Moon.” I listen to this song every other day. It takes me back to the conversation, back to the summer, and most importantly, back to when times were easy. 8th grade has been a hard year so far. Well September 19th here in Australia and saw the Harvest Moon on my drive to work at 6am. It was actually the biggest moon I have seen in my 54 years on this planet. Totally surreal. It was like a movie coming over the hill crest......and of course the Neil Young song popped into my head.

Reading these comments and seeing how special this song is to so many people made me cry. My dad and I would listen to this in our old black van going camping. We listened to it one last time together sitting in the dark in the hospital room before he passed. Neil was our guy.
My family and I camped for years over the Fourth of July weekend with a group of friends. Over time, the kids grew up, and the friends lost interest or moved away. But I’ll never forget our beautiful daughter pointing at the big, bright moon and saying “see the moon, mommy, see the moon!?” But she died of brain cancer at age five in 1998. And now my wife is also gone. Life does have a way of passing us by.

I had it played at her funeral, together with Nick Cave "Into My Arms". She passed on to the next great adventure before I could share it with them. You are energy and spirit in a physical body. The body may cease to function, but you will move on to another adventure. Doubt this will be read, but I’d like to share it. I’m 13 years old and this summer, as I was walking back from the beach to my beach house, my father was playing this song. It was only him and I, and we had a really nice conversation. Hearing Neil Young sing was like something I’ve never heard before. As we arrived to the house, I asked my dad the song name. I then discovered, “Harvest Moon.” I listen to this song every other day. It takes me back to the conversation, back to the summer, and most importantly, back to when times were easy. 8th grade has been a hard year so far. Well September 19th here in Australia and saw the Harvest Moon on my drive to work at 6am. It was actually the biggest moon I have seen in my 54 years on this planet. Totally surreal. It was like a movie coming over the hill crest......and of course the Neil Young song popped into my head.

At 53 years of age and 32 years of marriage, I almost died of Covid in 2021. Calling my family to say goodbye before going on the vent was heartbreaking. I recently lost my husband, the love of my life, to Covid-19. This song came on today. I closed my eyes and I pictured him with his arms around me dancing the way we used to do. And all I wanted was to feel his arms around me just one more time. I cried.

Reading these comments and seeing how special this song is to so many people made me cry. My dad and I would listen to this in our old black van going camping. We listened to it one last time together sitting in the dark in the hospital room before he passed. Neil was our guy.

My family and I camped for years over the Fourth of July weekend with a group of friends. Over time, the kids grew up, and the friends lost interest or moved away. But I’ll never forget our beautiful daughter pointing at the big, bright moon and saying “see the moon, mommy, see the moon!?” But she died of brain cancer at age five in 1998. And now my wife is also gone. Life does have a way of passing us by.

How to explain this? This was my wife's & my song... She & I would play play this beautiful song non stop on a road trip and never tire of it. She passed away on 11.11.2020. I had it played at her funeral, together with Nick Cave "Into My Arms". This year, one year on to the day, on the way back home from a quiet, contemplative & peaceful walk to remember her by I stopped off at a supermarket to buy a bottle of milk... This is such a beautiful song. So simple, and filled with love. I was learning to play this on guitar, and wanted so much to play it for my brother and his fiancé as she too was dying of cancer. She passed on to the next great adventure before I could share it with them. You are energy and spirit in a physical body. The body may cease to function, but you will move on to another adventure. At least that is what many believe will happen. I pray you will experience peaceful serenity moving forward.

the last night before i left for my freshman year of college my boyfriend and i were sitting in the car preparing ourselves for long distance. he told me to get out of the car and closed the door behind me. i stood outside underneath the light from the lamppost and moon and waited for him to get out too. he rolled down the and put this song on. we danced underneath the moonlight while this song played in the background. singing and dancing together has to be my favorite memory ever. this will forever be our song and i could not be more grateful! thank you neil for countless memories!

My husband proposed to me on August 19th this year while we played this song. There was a true blue supermoon on that night: a night I will treasure in my heart for as long as it has a heartbeat. A beautiful, cool summer night in Mississippi. This song perfectly describes the feel and the events of that night-and the way we met and became one thing. “Baby, if I proposed to you now, what song would you pick?” I immediately felt dizzy when he said that because I knew that was no joke. I was at a loss for a short moment and then chose this song. He took my hands, and we started dancing in the light. And then he went down on one knee and my dreams came true. We then continued feeling the night… I love him so much I am practically gasping for air, and the thought of that night is making me cry a river. Life is wonderful, and God is good. Whoever reads this, I wish you will have what I found-I am supremely blessed I get to keep it for the rest of my days.

Now I’m listening to this song while my wife is in labor for our first daughter on September 20th, 2021, during the harvest moon.

Love happy endings. Cherish every moment together. I'm on my second marriage and been together since 1999. I had a girl back in 1975 and after 3 fantastic years, she got tired of me running around with the guys. After that I've always had regrets. She does and always will have a special place in my heart. My wife sees old pics of us and just rolls her eyes. Lol
But I will always be grateful for the lady I have now. Helps me with our horses and just a one of a kind country girl. But I think back about Diane and wonder, what if? So I wish you the best. Keep it young at heart. That's all we can hope for. Little things mean a lot
