Henlo, I'm 14 yrs old, going into high school this year in a week. The meltdowns and panic I've felt had been more frequent than I would prefer. And the funny thing is I always blame it on myself, saying that my procrastination is hurting me. And in truth it is, I have no excuse for being a failure, for being average when I know I can be so much better. Watching this video, I hope I can change everything, that I can be a new person who truly wants something good for themselves. In school, everywhere I look I see people running in a race, in a competition to get higher and better than everyone else when really all I need is to be the best I can be. I hope it will work, that I'll change somehow. With hard work but I make no promises. I hope in a few months time I can return to this place and write of my success. Only time will tell.
    Signed : A Lost Soul
Edit#1: Henlo, this is entry 2 of my personal journey. Only yesterday was my first day of school, when I woke up it felt like my heart had frozen overnight and was left in the darkest abyss, light could not reach it, my doubts had clouded too much… I forced myself off the bed and fast forward onto the bus. On the bus, I suppose my luck had finally changed as someone I knew was there saving me the trouble and embarrassment of finding a seat, usually I’d sit alone with ny thoughts swarming around my head but a change felt nice. But still, talking seemed draining and I wasn’t sure where to begin, but taking a deep breath, I told her what I felt about the first day, how I was scared and felt so small… I didn’t know how she’d react but after listening she broke too and told me what I’d told her. I guess I wasn’t the only one who was beyond nervous… We started talking about things beyond school and some may wonder “How did I just start talking when I’m such an introvert?” Well what I usually try to do is channel that extroverted energy I have when I’m in a group of friends who appreciate and accept me, that feeling of being the loud crazy self I am inside felt fulfulling, it felr good to laugh weird and make cringe jokes because thats who I am. So despite being terrified, I took a deep breath and shoved my extroverted side out the door, imagining I was just talking to another friend. And the rest of the day I continued to do the same thing, and in each class I found people responded well to me being myself at core, even those in grades higher than me! After the day I felt exhausted and I immediately thought the day had gone miserably due to my doubts about friends, and future, and academics. But when I sat down with myself and looked up at the sky, I recounted all the experiences of the day, and somewhere inside I felt like something had gone well. And today I continued to channel my true self when I found appropriate, when talking to new people and teachers, and while my hands still shook and my heart jumped up and down, when I was my positive self, telling myself I can do this it made things change. Truly having the right mindset changed a lot, Ive seen plenty of back to school videos that tell you about mindset but often I get confused, “Ok I understand but how am I supposed to change in myself?” Well what worked for me was channeling my best self, not the person who OTHERS thought was amazing but the person I thought was amazing, and that was the person who took regular classes so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed and be happy instead, that was the girl who showed everyone her extroverted side because she wanted to make others feel welcomed and feel appreciated like I had when someone talked to me. After knowing who I wanted to be I always made sure to think, is this happiest version of me? And if it were I would take that person and put her forward, pushing my quieter side that I appreciated but wanted to change towards the back seat. And guys if I’m being honest, I didn’t expect anyone to respond to my comment or even see it, I wrote it one day thinking that I have to say something, perhaps it will help someone else… and now it kind of has! So I apologize if my words seem all over the place because when it cones to new experiences I’m still finding myself, but I hope my experiences still assist someone and I’ll try my best to respond here every so often, ngl I feel a bit of pressure now 😅 hehe

Like amy said, you need to be early to do stretches and laps if you're doing sports... For musicians like me, we also need to be early to tune our instruments and set up the electronics
Playing wind instruments also helped me a lot because it teaches you to control your breath. It also helped me to be in control of my emotions(especially on stage) because the note would sound weird if you're anxious(e.g. over-biting your instrument and shaky breath)

I am a middle child. When i was born, everyone is paying attention to my newborn sister. Both of my sisters outshine me in every single thing im proud of. I joined a sport just to try to be good at something. My mom forces me to go with my sister. And all of the attention, the praises, compliments, it all only directed to my sister. Im so sick of doing it while everyone is just “good job ___” “you are doing well ____!” while i was never once looked at. Not just that, im sick for always only being the “funny” friend. Everyone makes jokes at me and never treat me like im a human. I crave attention. I crave being respected. I want to be loved, i want to be good at something. There’s nothing about myself that i am proud of. Both of my sisters already have a boyfriend, they have good friends too. While i need to sacrifice my blood sweat and tears just to have one friend or a boy to look at my direction. I wish i can be positive, but everyday is like a reminder on how unlucky my whole life is, even if i tried to stay positive. I tried taking pills, doing workouts, and doing everything i can to distract myself and make me a better person, but i dont know. Its getting really tiring. @Masklzve 2 месяца назад +3

Hey, I guess we are sort of around the same age, but even if not, I can at least try to give some advice eh? I get what you're talking about. I feel the exact same way so don't feel like you're alone. I have two siblings too, you know, and my little sister surpasses me in everything I've ever been good at. You know, language skills, drawing, literally anything. I try to tell myself that I shouldn't be mad or jealous because that's just how they things are, the newer generation will always surpass the older one.
Well, that mindset did not work for me. So here's what I'm doing now. As hard as it sounds, I'd suggest you try to not focus on being better. I get what you crave and this is just being human, but I don't think you'll get it by forcing it. You shouldn't do a sport to be better, you should do it because you want to. You shouldn't try to surpass your siblings, you should focus on what you want and what you strive to achieve. Sounds dumb, I know. I myself am still struggling with that. But I firmly believe that if you do what you want to do, you'll get what you're craving for. Because if I change my point of view, I'd be much more drawn to a person who follows their own desires and dreams instead of trying to fit in, like she said in the video.
Most importantly, you don't have to do what I've said here because that would be a contradiction again. You should do, what you think is right and feels good to you. Just one more thing, you really aren't alone. It's a tough journey. For all of us, life's never easy. But if you keep on being yourself, I'm sure you'll find everything you crave for. I believe in you. Please don't give up. You're awesome

hi! im a middle child too and i feel like im the one who gets the blame for eveyrthing, but this isn't about me. i just wanted to say that you're not alone and plenty of people feel the same! as much as it is unfair, i can try to help you find some ways to make you feel better. first of all, im not sure how's ur relationship with your parents but try telling them how you feel? just tell them that you don't feel heard. they're your parents they care, and if they dont (which i highly doubt) then you did not lose anything. also as you mentioned you're called the "funny" friend, how about if somebody calls you that, try saying something. don't be silent. say that you have way more than that and just anything to make them take back what they said. if not, you need new friends girl. anwyays my advice is also starting new hobbies! this helped sooo much. since your sport isn't working out since you're w ur sister, again, ask your parents to switch. orrrr you could try another hobby! like drawing or an instrument. something just for YOU. i hope this helped i’m really sorry if not. best of luck!

    Thank you! ❤
Ever since June, I've been struggling because my "friends" told me a lot of cruel things and then kicked me out of the group. I decided that I wanted to be better than them and improve myself.
They always made me believe that I had no value and no self-worth.
But I deserve to know my value and my self-worth because I AM important.
So now, about two months later I work out and I'm still learning to grow.
Self improvement takes time, and right now that's all I have.
    Bye Stranger❤

Then they weren’t your friends, and you didn’t need them anyway.
If a “friend” says cruel things to you, they’re bullies.
You need to find better friends.
I know because I can relate. I was friends with mean girls who would bully nerds, and I simply decided their vibes suck and I don’t want to surround myself with negative energy anymore. So I broke apart and left.
I currently found a decent friend group with positive energy I can happily associate with.
And if I can, you can too! You can do it :)
I wasn’t invited anywhere either, I was kicked out of groups, excluded from conversations, and it sucked. Hope it gets better for you!

    Hi, Amy
Last year I spent my holidays watching videos on how to be the best version of yourself. At the end of the holidays I decided to start taking action. It's been worse and better, but I don't regret it. I still have a lot to work on, but I'm proud of myself. I understood many things on my own without the help of others. Now I enjoy what I have and continue to take care of myself. sometimes I refuse to talk to my friends at night, but sometimes I also allow myself to do it. I feel better every time I watch your videos, and especially when I understand what you're saying. Thanks Amy! ❤

The thing about extra self improvement is so true because I always see some people my age or even younger going to gym, spending so much on skincare and makeup and many stuffs (those aren't bad but coming from a middle class family i am not used to those so i always feel about how i don't look like them or maybe if i could have a lil skincare i would be pretty) but then i realise that there were and are a lot of people who don't do those and theyre still growing and are doing great and i still consider them so pretty and kind so yeah i don't think i need those untill i grow up and earn myself and spend on my body. For now, eating healthy, sleeping well, staying clean and moving more are all i need to be healthy and happy.

This is an AMAZING video and the fact that you put months in the working makes it better. Since I’ve watched this video I have been feeling super pressured with myself and sometimes I think I’m not good enough because I’m not doing what I’m “supposed” to do, I’ve pressured myself so much that most of the time I feel worthless and unworthy of having what I have because I’m doing things wrong and that I have to be better, every day I have woken up and lifted myself to do the things that I have set for myself, right now it’s almost 3:00 am and I’m commenting on this video because these past few days have been awful, I try to pressure myself even MORE to get up and even eat something but I just don’t have the energy and I feel like I’m a mistake because I can’t do anything okay and I’m just having a bad time. Sorry for my exaggeration, I’m just trying to share my experience with other people to see if this has happened to someone else.

In my previous year of school, my classmates did not like my english teacher at all. I on the other hand respected him because he really wasnt a bad teacher in my opinion, he was genuinely a fun teacher who was striving to make his lessons more fun by making us do presentations, play games every once in a while etc and not just pile work on us and expect us to finish it the next day. when the second semester rolled around i was the only one who who got full marks in his class. side note english is not my first language i moved to the west when i was 7 y/o with absolutely no english in my dictionary, most of the people in my class that year have english as their first language and i still managed to get the highest grade in my class. This is why i heavily agree with what you said at 4:43

I talked abt this in your last video i believe but here it is again i am turning 18 in almost 16 days and i agree with everything you said
    - one of the things i am super proud of is that no matter what i was always very authentic to who i was/am
it's never worth it to change yourself to fit in whether you are 13 or 31 its important to realize that if you aim to be like anyone else you're still going to be the 2nd best at being like that person. there's only one you, remember that and try to make yourself a better version of YOU instead of the current version of someone else
    - another advice id give is guys pursue your passions and goals and work hard towards them trust me you'll never regret it as in my opinion everything in life leads you to another important thing. same goes for bad experiences, every bad thing that has happened to me has taught me something and made me a better person. this does not mean you should just let bad things happen to you but understand that there are no ups without downs and its always best to learn from them instead of letting those things destroy you
i wish you guys best of luck however old you are, have a wonderful day and life

Edit: Let’s see how many days I can do without scrolling or useless videos
    Day 2 - 🎉 Yay
Day 3 - It’s evening and I forgot to watch, realizing that I haven’t scroll yet but I still spend lots of time on useless video today, I have math next, see u tomorrow (sorry)
Day 4 - 🎉 I’m here again, I know that my screen time today will go as my mindset
Day 5 - 🎉 Yay, I’m here, I love you video Amy, I’m in summer break and it feels so good to hit the golf ball in the best angle I can do now
Day 6 - 🎉 I wake up a little late today so I decided to cut out ALL dead times today, this video never feel old, it’s a good day starting video
Day 7 - 🎉 The key information in the video sink in my head and they help me adapt them to my life, you guys wanna do a “lesser scrolling” challenge in the reply? ❤❤❤
Day 8 - After 3 days long vacation, just join audition for lead role in school musical, this summer is not just for studying and relaxing now!
Day 9 - 🎉 The words in this video sink inside my brains and it become more real and settled than the first day. I make a 30 days challenge with my dad to not play Yt shorts / FB for dad
Day 10 - 🎉 The audition got nearer, I’m nervous scaring to not get the expected role. But the part “Your hard work will pay off” motivates me to study and vocal train no matter what distract me
    Day 11 - 🎉 Yay again
Day 12 - A whole day without watching shorts and useless video. This is easy
    Day 13 - 🎉
The school has opened and I’m kinda sick (sore throat) this time, see y’a later
Day 14 - 🎉 This is after school start, I’m feeling so hard about fitting in. My best friend is on TikTok all the time and I don’t know how to handle relationship. The mean popular girls get to the new kids and that makes them don’t care about me. It’s hard but I’ll promise my self that “I’ll do what gives me highest long term advantage, you do you, I do me”

You know, family problems is sadly something everybody has to go through at least once in their life. And as discouraging that feels, it is also a chance to grow. Of course I don't know your personal situating but I don't think I need to, because of regardless what's going on, you deserve to be cared and looked out for as well. You said you're always the one being there for people right? Well, maybe try to reach out to one of them or literally anyone. The fact that you shared this here is already a step forward, even if small. It might seem scary, but telling anyone your feelings, even if it's just your diary, can ease your mind. For me personally, writing my thoughts and problems down helps me, but it's different for everybody! Maybe you like expressing yourself through art, playing a sport (as it's said in the video) or play an instrument, there are so many creative ways to get rid of those thoughts. You don't have to be alone you know? After all, we're all underneath the same sky and as you might've seen in this comment section, there are many people with similar situations to yours. I felt so insecure because of everything what those people said to me, so i started working out a lot, listening to music also helped, i just wanted to disappear from the world. I always try my best at everything but sometimes i need to rest. Now, I started to say also more no to people :) and they don't like it. I want to just restart my life again and just be anywhere but not home, home isn't the right term. My dream is to travel, i wanted to start as soon as possibe to just go away from home and discover this beautiful earth. My dad said it wasn't possible to start travelling at 18 cause i need to study. I was dissapointed for sure but idk if i can live like this longer, my heart is going to explode, I still try but it's hard. Hi Amy. I’m so disappointed that RUclips hasn’t recommended your channel to me until now. This video has been so inspirational to me, and I really relate to the struggles you talk about in it. I’m only 12, and now hyped to be the best version of myself in my teenage years. Thank you so much ❤

I am turning 13 next year and since all those things with the quarantine in 2020, I started to be addicted to my phone and I just noticed now. I lost some years of my childhood (even if I still have some). Since 2020 I started to get more and more insecure with time and things. I thought "Oh if you don't study enough they will make fun of you and your grade!" (It's because actually this happen to one of my classmates) so I started to lose confidence in myself and trying to blend in with everyone while not caring enough about myself. I was always left out and I am still but since I am starting a new year of school I want to be stronger and more confident now so in the future I will be the best version I will be and try to build myself. Your podcasts really inspired me and your videos. I know you probably won't see this comment but you really changed my life. I am happy that I got off my phone now more (my screen time was way too big since I thought "Oh it must be cool to spend hours on your phone, that's what teenagers do, no? ") and from that some years of my life was just wasted by technology at such a young age. I know this is also part of my fault because yea I could try to not use my phone that much and focus on myself but people always tend to not notice their mistakes till it's too late. I am inspired by your video, Amy and again thank you for making such inspirational videos and helping. Keep it up!

I remembre when I was like, 10, my biggest dream was to get into Caltech, and when I started talking about it with people around me, nobody seems to know it. 8:49 I always wanted to do sports but I have very bad skins problems which makes it difficult- due to the fact that I actually can’t sweat. I could walk for only 2 minutes and I’d already be exhausted, the fact that I stay in my room all day isn’t helping either 😭 if anyone has advice for me I’d appreciate it because I really want to do sports but it’s not easy for me due to these problems

Maybe you could try a hobby that does take some practice and if you really like that hobby it might push you to try harder and get better I hope that this helps you and don’t forget to drink water
